25.01.2022 Healing powers of Parsley (deserves a capital letter!)

25.01.2022 How to stop towing wobble and sway This video by Road Safety Commission shows just how weight distribution can cause serious issues when towing. Do you know anyone who needs to see this?!

24.01.2022 Why I have shifted my perspective on cobwebs. I cleaned the cobwebs off the pool fence seemingly not that long ago but they back in force. Had I have noticed them an hour earlier than I did, my thoughts probably would have been- I’d better clean those off. Not a thought for the spider, well, actually that’s not quite true. I respect their talent, artwork and their home and do feel a bit mean as I ruin them. ... Today, I noticed an unusual rhythm in the movement of a bird nearby. I was mid chant - but not deep as I was focusing on technique, rather than in a meditative state and took a peek. There was a bird jumping along the fence, pole by pole, looking at each and every web on it for food. Sometimes it got lucky, sometimes it didn’t. Having checked the whole of the top rail, it moved to the bottom rail and I caught some of it in action. Quite fascinating. We are interrupting nature on so many levels with our pursuit of cleanliness and things looking clean or perfect. Like everything there needs to be a balance I guess. It’s also a reminder to stop and look around. I am so much more connected to nature and the sounds around me. A nice bonus from this lockdown time and doing my lengthy, daily morning sessions outside. We talk about stopping and smelling the roses. There is just so much around when we do, even when it is to stop and appreciate the cobwebs ;) . . . #natureisamazing #spiderwebs #stopandseethecobwebs #shiftyourperspective #morningmusings #birdlifemelbourne

22.01.2022 People are getting into all sorts of things though lockdown......baking, running, drinking, healing, walking, painting.... I have discovered Chanting! I absolutely love it and feel calmer, lighter and brighter. I have done it 5 days in a row for just over an hour. More about that later. I wanted to invite anyone keen for a chant (sing) for an online session tonight 5.30 till 6.30 pm. I haven’t done it here before, but, let’s face it I’m not going out in Melbourne tonight! ...Book in through this link if you up for it xox https://yogaassociationofvictoria.podia.com/c/havan-rocklyn

22.01.2022 There is a freshness in the air this morning in Melbourne I can’t describe. It feels clean and bright, may it be a good sign for the city Knowing this good shall pass I am sitting on my decking savouring a cuppa pre chanting and qigong. Then, up and at em. Have a good one wherever you are and always remember we have the capacity to find freedom within us. It starts with the breath.... inhale peace exhale pain.... inhale calm exhale catastrophising......

20.01.2022 Gratitude has the energy to change your life. Today is World Gratitude Day and it made me think about my personal practice and how much it has helped me. I have a strong GP going back formally (as in, in the form of a diary) for six years now. I now generally see the good in most situations and more good around me.... Within 21 days our brains are rewired to a more positive bias. This then carries through to a whole new cycle of seeing the good, which then attracts more of the good. (What you radiate you attract. Where you focus mind your energies go etc) When we think grateful thoughts we feel better and that is our vibration rising. Theoretically we ‘should’ (a word I try and avoid ;) ) be able to meet all experiences with gratitude. I am not there yet, however, I have made a breakthrough with my biggest challenge in finding gratitude for the greatest upset of my life. I can’t be grateful for the experience but I can be grateful for the lessons, the love and the legacy of it all. Sometimes it can be hard to find things to be grateful for. As I said to my sons once when we were doing the dining table gratitude diary - keep it simple. Maybe toilet paper or the colour yellow (lol who would have thought we actually would be so grateful for toilet paper as we have in 2020 ) Do you write a gratitude diary? I also encourage clients to write three things grateful for in the morning and three positive things that happened at night. Writing does have a bigger impact than thinking grateful thoughts, but it is still really good. As an aside when I started my Instagram account, my name was @funandgratitude and every morning at 7.30 I posted a positive message of some sort. It truly helped me so much in my recovery from very poor health. Have your best day possible. This may be well away from your best day ever, but be kind and understand of yourself if circumstances are challenging. 16.01.2022 In many ways I have experienced a similar challenge to what we are all experiencing now - not able to work, see friends, go to cafes and restaurants, parties, travel, and at the worst of it, not able to drive, read, use devices, watch tv. In fact, I could hardly walk to my letter box, let alone walk for an hour, and all this whilst not knowing when if or when things would to improve. The major difference was that this was through personal illness ( a meningitis type illnes...s leading to chronic migraines (24/7 and fatigue) - it wasn’t a world wide pandemic with government forced restrictions and it was a situation I needed to learn, mostly myself, but with support to manage and recover from. As a type A personality I struggled a lot in the beginning, well actually, for quite some time. From what I remember most of all was the frustrations of it. Wanting to do things, but when I did there was a big payback, a fine if you will.. After a long period of living an extremely limited life, I learnt to pace myself and but perhaps most beneficial of all finding acceptance of the situation. I clearly remember one sunny, but cold winters day sitting on my deck wrapped up in blankets and thinking I cannot fight against this, I am wasting all my energy. I need to find some joy in my life, despite the limitations. It was a turning point. Sure, it still took a long time to heal, but the mental shift changed and that helped enormously. Acceptance comes in a form of surrender, but in a positive beneficial way to our ‘selves’ - our physical, emotional, energetic and mental whole self. In a way, making peace with the situation, letting go of the battles, allowing for energies to focus on the positives and trusting in the outcome that all will be well. Perhaps you can resonate with either the frustrations or the surrender. Either way, keeping our vibration high is imperative. I find and did find spending time in nature - this can be even inside with windows open, feeling the breeze, hearing the birds or looking at the sky, a gratitude practice, cultivating hope and trust, watching carefully where I invest my energies, movement to shift the Qi -life force energy) all essential to overcoming challenges. Wherever you are and if in need, I hope you can find some acceptance, new meaning and purpose over these next weeks to set you up for a brighter 2021 - our thoughts and actions today do shape our tomorrow. Be kind to yourself though, remembering there are more feelings and emotions such as grief, loss, anger, loneliness that perhaps need healing and releasing. Acceptance and focusing on raising vibration could be a good starting point. Whatever the weather, I hope you see sunshine - or as the poem goes - Whether the weather be fine, or whether the weather be not, Whether the weather be cold, or whether the weather be hot, We'll weather the weather, whatever the weather, Whether we like it or not. Anon xox

16.01.2022 The Fire within us According to TCM too much or too little is harmful. Too little for example may lead to an lack of passion or depression. Too much can lead to anger or overworking. As I cut out a lot of unhealthy and dead wood from my pear trees today I was once again enamoured with the connection of humans and trees.... Seemingly on the outside we are alive however on the inside there can be parts of us that are diseased or dead. This could be in our organs and vital systems, thoughts, muscles, bones, fascia or feelings. Pruning the trees I thought of our body releasing the old emotions, the thoughts that no longer serve us, the unhealthy cells in the body. Clearing the stagnation within us. Cutting out the unhealthy trunks allows the tree to send more nourishment and energy to the healthy parts of the tree as well as allowing for light to enter for new growth. Quite some time ago I cut my Lemmon tree back to almost just the trunk. It looked terrible I wondered if it would recover but trees like us, have an ability to grow from within and adversity and then shine externally again. You may notice that some of the healthy branches in the pile in the picture have been cut down. That was to allow for more light to come in. In humans sometimes we also need to let go of other healthy practices or parts and maybe that’s to allow even more healing or growth within us. Our resources may be limited - not the language I really want to use but being practical, it may be time or money. For example, my current dedication of an hour to Qi gong daily has taken the place of mantra, though I still do 15 mins. Practically at the moment I need to use my time resource on several things. The benefits of Qi gong though is replacing the different benefits of mantra. This weeks yin classes will focus on balancing the fire element within us, held in TCM in the heart and small intestines (in the chakra system btw it is the solar plexus in your navel). What is also interesting is the way the elements all work together for both trees and nature. The wood creates fire, the water calms the fire, the fire creates earth, the earth contains minerals and metal is formed. The metal creates water (with condensation) the water promotes the growth of wood and trees. Today’s class is at 3pm AEST, Friday 6.30pm and can be attended live or via zoom recording. Bookings the same way via my bio and you will receive the link and or recording. May the fire within you be calm yet productive

15.01.2022 Pain happens and whether physical or emotional, how we respond is the difference between pain and suffering. I think this parable illustrates this perfectly- The Buddha once asked a student, If a person is struck by an arrow, is it painful? The student replied , It is. The Buddha then asked, If the person is struck by a second arrow, is that even more painful? The student replied again, It is. The Buddha then explained, In life, we cannot always control the first ...arrow. However, the second arrow is our reaction to the first. And with this second arrow comes the possibility of choice. My passion and purpose is helping people reduce their suffering. Whether that be in Release + Restore and Yin Yoga classes or CTC therapy (mindset, releasing limiting beliefs, anxiety, fears etc) or with weight issues and subsequent repercussions. This is my studio where it all happens. Currently the floor plan is set up for online appointments and classes only, but face to face will be optional with the easing of restrictions. I look back over the past couple of weeks with a sense of fulfilment and respect for all the clients and students who have worked with me. From clients with severe anxiety, limiting beliefs and and or undesirable behaviours and patterns to others with weight issues, and others with aches and pains. The commonality of them all is that they are no longer wanting to suffer and are prepared to release what they can. The second arrow if you will. 2020 has been a particularly painful year, perhaps retriggering old issues as well as new ones, however, the story and suffering we place on it is something that can be worked on. Please reach out if you would like to talk about how my programmes and classes could be beneficial in reducing your suffering. DM or read more on my website and make contact through there. 14.01.2022 Some of us are enclosed buds, some of us blooming and some further developed and some about to emerge. Same conditions, different stages. Bit like us. Whatever the stage we can still also be up and down. Sometimes it’s hard articulating the feels. Maybe this helps - 1 - the sun’s shining, but my curtains are drawn... 2. I can’t see a cloud in the sky 3. Today I’m fine, yesterday I was raining 4. Yesterday was fine, today there’s thunder 5. I’m ok but need a hug. 6. Pls call - it’s pretty crap. I could go on but you get the drift. R u ok? Sure it’s a day to be asking, but I do care. Feel free to direct message or comment below - your feels or the number and however you feel today, here’s to a good nights sleep as that always helps xox

12.01.2022 Day 11/40 chanting - Maha Mrityunjaya I am currently studying ‘The Soulful Master’ , a pranayama (breath work) , mantra + mediation course with @thelightcolletive and have embarked on a journey of charting every morning for 40 days for about an hour. It forms the main part of my Sadhana - A daily a spiritual practice. The benefits have absolutely staggered me I have to say. I guess I could say I have found my inspiration to get out of bed earlier! ... The joy, energy, calm, focus, confidence I have gained are the obvious and easy to articulate. Others are deeper and some I still have to test - one in particular is quite bizarre...... I fully understand how people relinquish all things material, time becomes inconsequential and grasping to expectations ceases. I have a long way to go there , but I can really see how it happens. I know I am a beginner in my journey and have a lifetime of learnings ahead. There was a time when I said I was sick of life lessons, but I know they will always be there. I never put myself down as a keen student, but that has changed. I am committed to ongoing learning, self reflection and development and excited about that. I have never been a journal writer, but have enjoyed writing down insights and it is a wonderful reminder already of all I have learned. I highly recommend a morning ritual that includes something you love and that is meditative in its nature. Seriously if knitting, singing, playing music or reading is your meditation, why not get up early - getting out of bed is key and spend time quietly to set up for a calm and focused start to the day! During this challenging time, have you found something to get up early for or a new routine you think you will keep up or are you open to finding one? . . . . . . #mantra #sadana #sadhana #journaling #mindblowingexperiences #lifechanging #mantra #doit #riseandshine #findyourpassion #rainorshine #meaningfullife

08.01.2022 Sometimes you need to be alone. Not to be lonely, but to enjoy your free time being yourself. Anonymous Being by yourself also doesn’t mean you can’t be filled and surrounded by love, colour and nature. It has been a year of learning about oneself hasn’t it!

07.01.2022 Come on Melbourne is Paradise hehehe

05.01.2022 How long does it take to change a habit? Well, it depends on who you talk to and your why. Some say as soon as you want or are ready, others 21,30, 40 days. My eldest son was a thumb sucker and when he found his why (new Jack Stone LEGO) he stopped that very day. ... I remember going into his room and he was fast asleep with his hands between his thighs. He was so determined not to do it, found what he needed to do and achieved his goal. His dad, who was once a smoker quit overnight. It’s totally not that easy for most (me haha) Melbournians, we are at a sink or swim point. Another three weeks before next changes. Whether you’re struggling or just ready for change, is there a new good habit or one you wish to release? I have several in the go. In fact I need to write them down as it’s easy to let things slip by! Actually, that’s how bad habits can start. It’s not an easy time for many, so don’t make it complex. Maybe it’s taking time out for self care. I felt a bit for the fellow who said if your struggling, just make your bed, because he was taken out of context. Search army general and why you have to make your bed every day in YouTube. It is enlightening. For many bed making is routine, easy. I have never been able to nail a clear at bed..... And even though there are wrinkles I don’t mind. There’s no clutter. Why do I think I can change this time? Because I am after a feeling and a result. I want more clarity in my life. I have junk everywhere. I’m thinking if I learn not to dump in one place, that might spread. So here’s for a 21 day challenge and let’s hope it sticks. I have put it out there and that helps. Clear bed, clear mind? Believe it or not, this is more of a challenge than getting up extra early to chant everyday for 40 days (day 14 and keen as ever) and I know it’s been harder than a cold shower (30 sec 2 yrs now daily). I have tried many times before I may need a star chart! Long story short I was about to throw a brick through a 90 yo ladies house recently (I thought she was collapsed in the bathroom - I had her emergency call come to me ) anyway her bed and house looked perfect- it did remind me of when my house was broken into in my 20’s and the police said has this been ransacked? Anything on your agenda for change or challenge? Any tips for me?

04.01.2022 Soon it will be ‘all go’. Enjoy what you can, endure what you must.

04.01.2022 Beautiful thoughts for those feeling heavy hearted with grief xox

02.01.2022 Spring scenes...... Melbourne is trying hard to give us reasons to smile!
