24.01.2022 Update and Call for Volunteers Great news! Annandale Playgroup is working towards re-opening in Term 3. The committee's current focus is on establishing systems to manage risks from COVID-19 and to fairly share the work of running each session, including cleaning and packing up, especially given the expected additional requirements.... One way we are thinking of sharing this load is to have additional volunteers rostered on for each session. However, to do this without closing sessions we think we need more volunteers to help support our current fantastic volunteer day leaders. Becoming a volunteer is a great way of getting more involved in our playgroup. As always, the aim is that everyone who attends helps out, so that our volunteers are not left doing everything, but play a vital role in ensuring everything is done. Given that we currently expect to have to limit the number of attendees to meet current NSW Government restrictions, becoming a volunteer will also guarantee you a place at playgroup on the days you volunteer. 23.01.2022 Annandale Playgroup update Playgroup NSW has advised that they will soon confirm a ‘Return to Playgroup’ date. The Annandale Playgroup Committee really look forward to seeing you and your children back at playgroup in the not too distant future, and we have therefore started to work towards opening again. However, the health and wellbeing of all our members is paramount, and there is lots to be done before we can re-open. We need to develop new systems to adhere to current guidelines, including the requirements of Playgroup NSW, the Inner West Council (Annandale Neighbourhood Centre) and NSW regulations. This means that when we all return things will be a little different (isn’t everything now!). We will keep you updated via Facebook and email, and hope to have more information for you by Friday 3rd July.

22.01.2022 Don't forget about the kids clothes swap this coming Friday at Playgroup. Bring in clothes no longer needed at any sessions this week - the swap will start on Friday.

22.01.2022 November events Monday 11 November is the world-famous reptile show. It is going to be great. Don't miss it! 18 November: Annual General Meeting... Calling all members and volunteers! We are less than 2 weeks away from our annual general meeting where a new council will be voted in. The roles needing to be filled include the Secretary, Treasurer and Co-ordinator and at this stage we have no nominations. This is unfortunate and may mean the playgroup cannot run in 2020. If you are interested in one or more of these roles please get in touch and I can send you more information! They can be done solo or you can share us with a friend. The hours you put in can also count towards your CCS volunteer hours. See more

19.01.2022 Suspension of Annandale Playgroup As you are aware Playgroup NSW has recommended that volunteer run playgroups are suspended for the remainder of the term. Following on from this recommendation, playgroup will not go ahead this Friday 20th March, and will be suspended until further notice. Playgroup will re-commence again following guidance from Playgroup NSW and we will update you via email and Facebook. We wish you all the best in these changing times. ... 19.01.2022 Annandale Playgroup update Great news! Annandale Playgroup will be re-opening in Term 3. We don't have an exact date for you yet, but the committee is working hard on preparing and submitting the relevant documentation for approval and establishing procedures and systems to ensure everyone's safety and well-being.... There will be some changes, with limits on the number of attendees and consideration given to the toys and activities that will be available at each session. Pack up and cleaning procedures will also be a little different. Many people have had a change in their personal circumstances so we are following up with our existing day leaders to check on their availablity. If you'd like to volunteer to become a day leader, please contact us for more information via Facebook message or email to express your interest. Even though it may be a bit different, playgroup will still be a great opportunity for children and parents/carers to make connections and to support children's learning through play. We really look forward to welcoming you and your children back very soon. Again, we will keep you updated via Facebook and hope to have a 'Return to Playgroup' date for you by Friday 17th July.

17.01.2022 After discussion and consideration Annandale Playgroup Committee are currently aiming to resume playgroups in Term 4, pending both health and council requirements, and volunteer capacity. Annandale Playgroup has a wonderful history of over 40 years of community led activity which inspires the members of the committee, our volunteers, and our members. The combination of reduced volunteer numbers due to COVID-19 risks, and also the increased requirements for safe operation mean... we have a shortfall of trained volunteers and we need to delay re-opening. The committee has been working to create policies and procedures, and to develop the supporting infrastructure in place to meet the changing standards for public events. Recently the maximum numbers allowed were reduced, and the burdens on attendance monitoring and reporting were increased. These factors, combined with current volunteer numbers and the continued risks from COVID-19 swayed our decision to postpone the reopen date. We look forward to re-joining you in person and we will be in touch in September to seek out volunteers and lay the plans for a safe return. In the meantime, stay safe and keep smiling.

08.01.2022 Hi everyone! We've had a few enquiries about when playgroup will resume. At this stage we are still closed, following a directive from Playgroup NSW. With the current NSW laws still requiring 1.5m social distancing, most community centres remain closed. Playgroup NSW does not recommend that playgroups resume. We will notify you as soon as this advice changes. We hope you're all staying safe and we look forward to seeing you when playgroup resumes.

07.01.2022 Join us at Annandale Playgroup next week for some fun Valentine's Day craft. Monday, Tuesday and Friday morning, 9.30-11.30. We hope to see you there!

04.01.2022 APG is planning to re-open and we are really excited. While we worked to get playgroup open earlier in the year we did not have sufficient volunteers to get sessions running due to our requirements in meeting COVID 19 changes. Playgroup runs on volunteers! We need extra hands to meet our safety plan, however we've come up with procedures that are easy to do and the duties are light particularly when everyone pitches in. ... We are hoping to resume playgroup in November as we know many of you are keen to start attending. Before we can resume we need to ensure we have enough volunteers to day lead and ensure day leaders are trained. We will be holding training sessions on Monday 26th October, Friday 30th October, Monday 2nd November and Friday 6th November starting at 9:30am (regular playgroup starting time). If you can commit to becoming a day leader (any time you can offer will be appreciated, for example, one morning a month) we would love to welcome your fresh energy. Please let us know which training session you can attend by commenting on this post or email us at [email protected] by Friday 23rd October. Children are welcome so please also let us know how many will be accompanying you so we can register total numbers attending. Looking forward to lots more fun together.

02.01.2022 Annandale Playgroup's upcoming events: - 25 October: Grandparents day craft - photo frame decoration - 29 October: Halloween disco - dress up in your favourite Halloween costume and join in the fun, bubbles and dancing. Important announcement: At 6.30pm, 18 November the APG Annual General Meeting will be held to elect the 2020 Annandale Playgroup Committee. It is at the North Annandale Pub. A table will be reserved under 'Annandale Playgroup'. Please RSVP to attend the meet...ing by 12pm 18/11. The three Executive Committee positions will be vacated at this meeting. 2020 Committee nominations are requested by 4 November.
