24.01.2022 And so it begins..... the next generation!!!!!! My beautiful granddaughter Isabelle made her first quilt today - for her brother Matty. She sewed all of the top together - I only adjusted a few inches. Not bad for a 6 year old!!!

19.01.2022 Thanks to Hobbysew Top Ryde store, my three Quiltsmith classes have a new home since the closing of the store at Annandale. Huge thanks to Brenda, Virginia and all the staff for making us so welcome. The girls had a wonderful day yesterday..... and a bit of a buying frenzy!!

17.01.2022 It was all happening today at The Stitchers Cupboard Camden. Michelle has finished "Catherine Wheels" (looks amazing!!) and Marj.... finally got started on "Supernova" after keeping us laughing and feeding us on her famous shortbread!!

15.01.2022 So sorry I haven't posted for ages, but as many of you know, we have made the big move..... we've sold our property in Bullaburra and relocated to Dubbo to join our family and friends for our "retirement " years!! We have downsized a bit and have a lovely home on 1.5acres (complete with 10 car shed!!) on the eastern outskirts of Dubbo. Totally loving it here - spending heaps of time with our beautiful grandchildren, son, daughter-in-law and our very old friends. Still doing ...a bit of unpacking and sorting but today I escaped and visited the Dubbo Quilters show. What a treat!! I was welcomed like royalty and met many wonderful members of this group. Now booked up for a Trunk show and looking forward to some workshops and sewing days together. I had planned to have my stand at Springwood Quilt show this month, but as the date drew closer reality - and unpacking- set in and we realised it wasn't really a sensible option. So, sadly, I won't see many of you at the show. However, I am still available for classes and still designing, so I'll keep you posted with my latest projects. Happy sewing to you all. See more
15.01.2022 I have been quite slack of late and not posted.... so sorry!! But thought you might like to see my latest quilt - "Summer Trifle". It's a great way to use a collection of Kaffe fabrics or any others that will give you a blended colour wash effect. Very quick and easy! I'm teaching it at several Summer School workshops in January if you'd like to make it. Just call the shops below and book in. You'll have it finished in no time!!! 12.01.2022 I felt privileged, if a little sad, to teach the very last class at Quiltsmith, Annandale, today. Thank you Melinda Smith for so wonderfully providing the Patchwork community with fabulous fabrics, class and workshop opportunities and inspiration. We will really miss you!

11.01.2022 At last .... the Sommerlads are ready to make the big "escape to the country"!! Off to Dubbo to join friends and family when our Mountains house is sold. Anyone for a tree change??? 07.01.2022 Finished!! "Isabelle's Forest Friends" - named for my gorgeous grand-daughter. Had lots of fun playing with Tula Pink and Alison Glass fabrics - oh and a couple from the "Anne Sommerlad collection" in there as well. With the great set of templates I've had made and a few fast machine piecing tricks, it went together in no time. Pattern will be up on my website very soon.
05.01.2022 Lindy is sooo productive!!! Since last lesson she has finished Country Gardens and by the end of today's class, Belle Fleur was well on the way. Beautiful work Lindy!!
05.01.2022 So enjoying life in the Central West. As well as heaps of family time I have connected with Dubbo Quilters and shared Saturday presenting a trunk show and eating lots of yummy food with this great group of ladies. Looking forward to some workshops with them in the near future.
