25.01.2022 Back in 2005 Gerd Heuschmann said this at a Judges Seminar: Suppleness of the back is a very central topic. The natural gaits of the horse have been the way th...ey are for a million years. For example trot two beat, a swinging phase and diagonal movement. In trot the right forearm should be parallel to the left hind cannon bone. If you don’t allow the long back muscles to swing and allow the movement to get through the poll to the horse’s mouth, then you destroy diagonal movement. If you block the loin area, then the front legs come out and the hind legs don’t follow. Then my question is is this trot?

19.01.2022 Equestrian Victoria advise that the DHHS (Department of Health & Human Services) have now updated their advice regarding horse riding for those who are under ST...AGE 4 RESTRICTIONS. This most recent advice supersedes any previous advice. DHHS STATEMENT You are unable to leave your home for the purpose of riding your horse. You may ride your horse if you are home on your own property. The DHHS have stated: Outdoor recreational activities like horse riding are not a permitted reason to leave home. If you are at home, on your property, you can ride your horse. Exercise is limited to a maximum of one hour per day and no more than 5km from your home. PROVIDING CARE The RSPCA advise that you must still care (feed, water, shelter, vet) for your horse as needed while maintaining social distancing and, where required, minimising travel. If you do need to leave home to attend to your animals you should comply with the public gathering requirements, implement sensible biosecurity arrangements and practice good hygiene, including hand hygiene before and after handling animals and their equipment, bedding or food. 16.01.2022 EDITED TO PROVIDE A FURTHER UPDATE: We are pleased to advise that we are currently in discussions with the Victorian Government around Covid-19 exemptions as... they relate to horse welfare, and we hope to be able to communicate with you as soon as possible, once we have Ministerial sign-off. UPDATE: We are currently reviewing the latest restrictions announced a short time ago by the Victorian Premier, Hon. Dan Andrews, and will have information for all members shortly. Thankyou for you patience. There are a lot of issues to work through and we would prefer to be as accurate as possible before releasing information, so that we can all get through this extremely tough time. #staysafe #lovethehorse #bekind

08.01.2022 Equestrian Australia Anti-Doping Policy Amended NOTICE TO ALL MEMBERS: The Equestrian Australia Anti-Doping Policy has been amended and is effective 10 August 2...020. The changes bring our sport in line with the establishment of Sport Integrity Australia which replaced the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) as the National Anti-Doping Organisation (NADO) in Australia from 1 July 2020. The changes which come into effect on 10 August 2020 are: > Replacing the words Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) with Sport Integrity Australia (SIA) > Recognising the National Sports Tribunal (NST) for first instance hearings by all athletes, and appeals by non-international-level athletes, > Introducing the concept of ‘lower level athlete’ to allow greater flexibility in dealing with and sanctioning athletes below International or National level, and > Removing the Anti-Doping Rule Violation Panel. 03.01.2022 VICTORIAN DRESSAGE FESTIVAL STRIVES TO GO AHEAD DESPITE DIFFICULT TIMES We are excited to announce that the 2020 Victorian Dressage Festival is set to be held D...ecember 10-15 at Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre (WPNEC). Dressage Victoria’s premier event has been taken on by top equestrian and event management professionals who will deliver this all-important Championship in a new six-day format that complies with COVID safe practices. The team at WPNEC is currently installing new Martin Collins Australia arenas and is working closely with the DF Event Management Team to ensure all classes are held on world-class surfaces. The event will be hit hard financially. With limited class numbers, no spectators, no trade village and additional costs surrounding hygiene and COVID-19 practices, this is unavoidable. Unfortunately, Serata Equine Photography, a name now synonymous with the Dressage Festival, has been forced to withdraw their financial support for this year's event, as they suffer from the impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Sarah Mounsey, Director of Serata Equine Photography said "It is with great sadness that we at Serata Equine, will no longer be able to sponsor the 2020 Dressage Festival planned for December this year. Unfortunately, with the impact of COVID-19 small businesses such as ours have been severely impacted by the loss of income. We would like to thank Dressage Victoria for having us on board and look forward to what the future holds." Event Director Lizzy Schirmer said "Planning an event during these challenging times is very difficult. The Dressage Festival usually takes many months to prepare for and requires the assistance of a large team. With so much uncertainty, coordinating preparations has been a complex process. However, I know how much this event will mean to the riders and we are prepared to do whatever it takes to deliver the 2020 Dressage Festival. I am very grateful to have a strong, professional team who have come together to make sure the event happens and also thank Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre for their support. Our hearts go out to businesses like Serata Equine Photography who are suffering. We truly appreciate the previous financial support they have given the event and encourage everyone to support this business wherever possible."
