19.01.2022 This young woman visited us as she had finished braces 10 years ago but the upper left canine has sunken back into palate along with not being happy with the colour one of her canine teeth. Dr Basil had to use a diode laser to remove some gingiva to level of gingival margin of all teeth. He then did small preparation on the specific canine tooth for a porcelain veneer to improve colour and make it line up with the rest of the teeth so it no longer looks sunken in With Dr Ba...sils experience, the veneer was able to be inserted and a lot of work on the gingiva was completed. 19.01.2022 This 13 year old came to us unhappy with her smile due to her large overjet (the horizontal gap between the protruding upper & lower teeth). Dr Basil inserted the MARA appliance to correct the overjet. ... Basically the MARA design employs a horizontal arm in the lower arch that extends sideways from a stainless steel crown on the lower first molar. A crown on the upper first molar has a vertical elbow that guides the lower jaw forward into the desired position. When correctly adjusted, the only way the patient can bite down is to slide the lower jaw forward so that the lower arms slip in front of the elbows. This process takes 6 - 9 months and minimal adjustments are done within 2 - 3 visits. The teeth are then held in this new place with a removable clear retainer that is worn at night.
