22.01.2022 COVID 19 and Dog Grooming - is it an essential service? My timeline and working day is filled with arguments for and against our profession being considered an essential service. I have been employed in and have been incredibly passionate about the Pet Industry for almost 20 years. The Pet Industry is my home, animals are my passion and ensuring that I play my very small role in promoting responsible pet ownership. ... I wholeheartedly believe that dog grooming is an essential service for many reasons including animal welfare, animal health, animal training and it also aids in the mental health of owners. Dog Grooming is not simply cutting hair and making a dog look or smell pretty. We as dog groomers ensure that the dogs brought into our salons are made comfortable. We aid in their comfort by removing matted coats, we also trim overgrown nails, clean dirty hygiene areas, socialise and educate puppies, help assist dogs with skin issues etc Many clients are not aware of the importance of grooming their pets and do not see issues that we do. Owners often do not notice matted coats, flea burdens, ear infections, skin issues such as hot spots, anal gland issues, lumps/cysts/tumours, overgrown nails, grass seed abscesses etc. We provide a vital link between owners, their pets and the vets in the way of referrals. Yes we also get to make dogs look pretty but to me that is not the reason why I became a groomer. Our pets can not tell us that their skin is sore, that their hair is tight, that the gunk under their eyes and in their ears hurt, that their scooting on their bums on the floor is not funny but there is a reason for it. We as groomers are there to help them and educate their owners. Until the moment that I am told by the Government that what I do is not an essential service I will continue to do what I feel is the right thing for my customers and their pets.

15.01.2022 So tonight I was lucky enough to be given a lifeline after hearing the Governments new restrictions. I am so very greatful at this stage Dog Grooming services are still allowed to operate. Who knows for how long but let's make the most of it for now. I would like to put a few things in place though for the safety of everyone * I would like your precious cargo to be free of their collars, harness and leashes when they arrive at the door. I will use a slip lead that I have a...t hand if necessary. * I will be greeting people at the door without them entering the actual salon area. * Please wait for my call or text to come and collect. With the extra disinfecting things may take a little longer and I would hate you to have to wait outside. *Payments are still the same..cash or card is fine..This can also be done at the door. 03.01.2022 Good morning everyone. Hope you are all staying warm. I would just like to announce that sadly the time has come for me to close my books to new clients. I have not been feeling too well lately and physically can't take on more. I have been so inundated the last few weeks with calls and bookings and it has got to the point I am unable to get my regulars booked in in their regular time frame. I want to thank everyone who has put my name forward as a recommendation. I will b...e fulfilling newbie appointments that have already booked. 03.01.2022 FUND-RAISER ...With my daughter hitting the pageant stage in early 2021 as a finalist in Miss Premier Elite, we will be holding a fundraiser at this year's Captivate Capel October 10th between 2pm and 5pm. I will be trimming toenails for $10 and colouring ears or tails for $5. All proceeds going to Breast Cancer Care WA. Hope to see you there. Please share
