16.01.2022 Major east coast grain handling and storage company GrainCorp is looking for 3000 casual workers for the upcoming harvest. Plenty of rain and a promising outlo...ok for a solid harvest across most of NSW, Queensland and Victoria means the company will be tripling its casual workforce this season. The company's General Manager Operations Nigel Lotz says ideally they will employ local people. "On top of that we recruit more widely and in some of the urban areas people are getting put off unfortunately, due to Covid," he said. "This is a great opportunity for them, I would say, to venture out and explore regional Australia."

15.01.2022 Pretty sure this should have been a warning of things to come and these boys may just follow Dad and Pa’s choice of career/lifestyle. Throw back to four years ago. These days they’ve swapped the bike for cars or trucks as there is always a truck that needs to be moved in the yard apparently. ... Regardless of what careers they choose, I am certain the Transport industry will always be something they support. - Lindy.

15.01.2022 ** COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT ** - THIEF - To the disgraceful human who has deliberately prised a Legends plaque off our wall....... Just know that we are currently door knocking and reviewing surveillance camera’s so that you will be prosecuted with every inch of the law! These drivers have worked tirelessly and made many a sacrifice so that you can have every element you need to live your life. They have stood at that wall with pride as their name was unveiled. Remember....everything comes off a truck. While you’ve been there to watch your loved ones blow out Birthday candles, these drivers have missed many a special birthday occasion just so our community has everything it needs!!!! Just so YOU have everything YOU need!!!! To avoid prosecution I suggest you get the plaque and return it immediately to the wall,no questions asked or it will be taken further! This is the second occasion a Legends name has been removed purposely meaning the person or persons responsible didn’t have to travel far at all. This was deliberately done and shows a true lack of respect for our community. If you know who this was please inbox the Legends page! Please share!

13.01.2022 . HERE’S CHEERS TO 50 YEARS. This month we celebrate 50 years of business. While we are so very proud we are also so very thankful to PJ and Rhonda who started this adventure 50 years ago. Rhonda is remembered as a beautiful loving lady who was very particular with presentation on all aspects (wonder where Nicholas gets that from hey). If only he applied that passion to vacuum and mop duty lol. ... We can’t forget the fantastic duo of PJ and John Moore. Those two had the most amazing work relationship and friendship. They had each other’s back through personal hard times and moments to celebrate! John devoted so many years in this business and that is hardly heard of in any company these days. He is definitely missed and we are thankful to have the friendship of his daughter Christine and her family. Twenty two years ago Nick began his full time driving career working alongside PJ. They have had many an adventure together, the last being a hay drive for farmers impacted by bushfires. These days it’s not out of character to see a b-double backed by one of Nick’s boys, some of whom can barely see over the dash but they do it well. While the trucks and trailers may have improved with technology over time, our eagerness in the industry remains the same. We sincerely appreciate our amazing clients, service and suppliers, employees and their families who have supported us throughout the years! 50 years on....another generation in the Manager seats, another generation waiting to saddle up and Pa (PJ) showing the same freight logistic commitment to dim sim, chicken wing ding and potato cake duty for Saturday smoko/lunch. Sounds like a winner!

12.01.2022 In uncertain times we really need to thank our truck drivers. They are the backbone of our country at the moment! 10.01.2022 Happy Mother’s Day to all of the wonderful Mum’s, Guardians and Carer’s out there. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

10.01.2022 SA Vic Border initial delays last night have been fixed by SAPol. In the early hrs of this morning, after the new Travel Direction No 10 requiring COVID Testing... of HV drivers (and other Essential Travellers), a 3km queue of trucks built up with a delay of some 90 minutes at Bordertown. This was due to a misunderstanding by police on site as it was never intended that every truck be stopped. SAPol became aware of this and corrected it and the police on site began applying the correct procedure of randomly stopping some trucks. JUST TO BE CLEAR: under the new Direction that applies as of 12.01am this morning (because it is complex ): The key bit of the new Order (re testing) is Clause 14 which provides: 1. 14(1) requires anyone entering SA from VIC NSW or ACT to be tested within 24hrs (and IF still in SA, again in 12 days), or face the fine; 2. 14(4)(b) provides an exemption from testing within 24hrs of each entry into SA (eg a HV driver who enter say 3 times a week) a. IF they are able to produce evidence of a test or a test result within the past 7 days 3. So, HV drivers entering more frequently than once a week either: a. Get tested every time within 24 hrs of each entry; or b. Under 14(4)(b), they can limit their tests to once a week, and be prepared to produce the evidence of this. The key point being that folk who may be thinking they can chance their arm and only get tested within 24 hrs on the occasions they are stopped by officers at the border, would be risking not only their health but fines ($1060 for drivers and $5000 for Operators) for each failure to have had the test within 24 hrs of entering SA in the event of an authorised officer asking them to produce evidence of their tests, which could occur any where and at any time, not just at the border. So this adds up to being tested AT LEAST WEEKLY for any HV driver who enters SA once or more a week from VIC NSW ACT.

08.01.2022 !!!!ATTENTION DRIVERS!!!! In response to the sad news of Stan’s passing please make the effort below. In honour of our Legend, Mr. Stan Godfrey the family wou...ld like to send Stan off with a convoy of trucks to the Heywood cemetery on Monday 30th November. Any of those that would be interested would be to meet at Fitzgerald St Portland (out front of K&S Depot) to leave for Heywood at 1:30pm, due to covid restrictions and limited numbers the funeral is by invite only and the participating trucks would have to continue past Cemetery Rd Heywood and turn around at a safe place (to be confirmed where) as only the hurst truck is to drive into the cemetery. Stan will be doing a lap through K&S Depot at 1:30pm and any trucks participating are asked to tag along behind the K&S trucks following the hurst. So please fellow drivers I’m asking for us to band together and send Stan off doing what he loved and lived to do and take him for one last drive See more

06.01.2022 BREAKING: China has stopped accepting logging exports from Victoria. The Federal Department of Agriculture confirmed it was notified of the ban yesterday. China... says it detected live bark beetles in logs from Victoria, which the department says is an "actionable quarantine pest". The department has confirmed at least two bulk carriers scheduled to load logs for China in the coming week at Portland will no longer be able to be loaded. South West Coast MP Roma Britnell has described the move as a "significant blow" that will have a massive effect on the whole region.

03.01.2022 Jacko’s speedway car was race ready just two days before COVID hit. Last Thursday he had his first race at Mount Gambier’s Borderline Speedway! As Dad was away trucking we hit Pa (P.J.) up to be Jacko’s pit crew. With the Annett family having a rich history in speedway we were thrilled that Jacko and Pa could share this experience together. A memory both of them will have forever! Jacko did well and had a huge smile on his face the entire night. Mum also done bette...r than she expected supporting from the sidelines. Now we are gearing up to race at Western Speedway next month.

03.01.2022 NEW SA CROSS BORDER DIRECTION No 10 A copy of the new Cross Border Travel Direction No 10 WILL BE available on the Govt site this link: https://www.covid-19.sa....gov.au/emergenc/cross-border-travel The critical bit to read re Commercial Transport & Freight Essential Travellers is Clause 14 re the testing. We have highlighted in the pic below the most important bit that relieves Commercial Transport & Freight drivers from testing within 24 hrs and again on day 12 after entry IF they produce evidence of a test result or a test within the last 7 days. This amounts to a requirement for weekly COVID tests for ALL HV drivers (including returning SA drivers) ENTERING FROM VIC NSW or ACT, regardless of whether or not they are residents of those jurisdictions. There is NO REQUIREMENT for HV driver Essential Travellers to Self isolate while waiting for test results . Unless they are being tested because they have symptoms or have been exposed to an infected person.

02.01.2022 Today we lost one of the good ones. By lost....I mean ‘retired’ lol. This gentleman right here has been a pivotal part of keeping our wheels turning for years and today after 33 years we regret to inform you that Pete has hung up his boots as a courier. ... Nothing has been too much for Pete with any request and he always assisted in making Christmas magical for our kids. They’re going to miss your lollies Pete. And you i’m sure lol. Thanks again for all you have done, you will he missed. - Lindy x.

02.01.2022 What a year it’s been! Who would have thought we would be working through a pandemic this year. From face masks to physical distancing, state permit systems, border check points, COVID safe plans, sanitising, eating in our trucks because there were no dining facilities (and limited shower facilities) and let’s not forget the weekly Covid testing. It was the year where toilet paper and hand sanitiser became a sought after commodity! A year where locals waited for the ...grocery truck to arrive to jump on those essential items once they were unpacked because panic buying was real. During this time we were given the title of essential freight service but we already knew that. It’s now very evident to the general public that without trucks Australia stops and I hope that appreciation continues. While our working conditions have been less than ideal it was a blessing to leave our homes to go to work while our partners showed just how strong they are and worked from home and educated our children at home during the long lockdowns. It’s been a trying year but a rewarding one. A year that we took a moment to reflect on appreciating everything we have. It’s been a pleasure doing what we love through 2020 and we look forward to continuing to provide essential road transport freight services in the New Year! Happy New Year! May 2021 be a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous one! - Annett team!
