23.01.2022 STEAM ON TERM 4 Our students enjoyed a trip on the Highlander (Steamranger) to Strathalbyn at the weekend. Here they are pictured on the platform in period costume. Luckily we had a beautiful day with the sun shining throughout. Thanks to everyone who came along and made the day a success. Thankyou to the students for representing the School so admirably. Special thanks to the many volunteers from Steamranger who did everything to assist, making my unusual vision into a reali...ty. We certainly created some amusement for Steamranger staff and general public alike. 21.01.2022 PARENTS AND BABIES - look like chaos - well yes we are mostly under 4yrs Over the last few years we have successfully introduced dance classes for pre schoolers where an adult accompanies them and participates in the class. This has eliminated all the separation anxiety issues and allowed us to accept children who would otherwise not be ready for a class scenario. I think the parents have more fun than the children. 16.01.2022 BREAK IN REHEARSAL - WE PLAY Thought I would share this cute photo of the gr 2's at play (not quite sure who the ring leader was but here is the opening for their next choreographic effort) The other is a more formal one of the gr2's and 4's during a studio rehearsal. We ultimately managed to film this dance at the Atelier theatre with full stage lighting before the year was out not withstanding our first attempt which was postponed due to lockdown. These students are in the... exam stream. They study twice per week and are moving through the graded Cecchetti syllabus. They all coincidently excelled in the recent November exam session. 15.01.2022 RECREATIONAL BALLET CLASSES In recent times we have been streaming our students so as to keep our more serious students together whilst providing an outlet for those who choose a very small commitment without any pressure. The recreational steam as it is known also acts as a springboard for late beginners who would find it difficult to assimilate straight into a class for their age group. We are offering 2 levels. Rec 1 is roughly from 7-11 yrs and Rec 2 from about 12 yrs and... including young teenagers. Prior to 7 yrs all beginners go into the same class until we can see where they best fit and what they feel most comfortable with. If you have always wanted to dance but have never made it to class how about giving it a go. You may love it and what's more you will reap all the benefits dance has to offer eg. posture, co-ordination, focus, relaxation, artistic appreciation to name a few. These are low pressure classes where nobody has a lot of experience. Don't be afraid. Start afresh in 2021. 09.01.2022 WE WELCOME YOU WITH OPEN ARMS To all new and current students - classes resume next week. We open our doors on Tues 2nd Feb for what I hope will be an exciting year. Fingers crossed we will have a clear run and can operate in a somewhat normal manner. By now everyone will be familiar with the qr codes displayed in most businesses. I urge you to please continue to scan each class. There will still be a paper copy available to sign in the absence of a phone but please do scan ...the code on behalf of your children if at all possible. Otherwise we are missing the point of the exercise which is to improve the speed of contract tracing. Please also respect density requirements by not exceeding limits especially in our foyer (currently 7 max) We ask parents to refrain from entering unless there is a real reason or in the case of very young or new children. Of course continue with the sanitising and hand washing. The rules have served us well thus far. I am sure it will not be forever but in the meantime please be mindful of keeping everyone safe. Looking forward to a great year. See you next week.
