12.01.2022 Could I get your support? Recently I entered the John Villers Outback Art Award with this painting, "In Retrospect," 2019. The competition is held at the Matilda Centre, Winton, which is remote Queensland. I was very humbled when I became a finalist, but my artwork was featured on their advertising social media drive to announce all the finalists. This was a major compliment. Only three WA artists were chosen and many do not enter because it costs so much to transport, which ...is at the artists expense. Unfortunately, just after the winners were announced, so was the COVID-19 epidemic. Although the exhibition is still on until the 8 May, the normal attendance at the exhibition is no longer as fruitful due to travel restrictions. Alas, I did not win any prizes, but I am still in the running of the popular choice. This is where I am asking for your help. Could you please have a look at the online exhibition via the link below. https://matildacentre.interactivink.com.au/ Who knows, you might just want to vote for my artwork? If I do win this prize, it would mean that I can afford to ship the painting back to me when the exhibition is over. VOTE ONCE and for one artists painting only, dont forget to finalise your vote by clicking on the link provided in your confirmation email. Usually, each visitor is charged $30 for an adult, so you get to experience this amazing exhibition for free. The competition is fierce and every artwork in the exhibit is above repute. The good news is that if the painting does return to Perth, it means it is still available for sale. Please let me know if you are interested and we can organise a negotiated price. Thank you so very much for your support, Kindest regards, Annette Peterson

Peterson also loves cars and driving and has a curiosity to investigate what lies around the next corner. She utilises photography and painting techniques together to render stop motion and changing shutter speeds in her paintings, captured from the window of her car. These delicate documents of suburbia show a mature sensitivity, and her love of cars and driving mock antiquated, stereotypical gender roles. 03.01.2022 In 2006 a high school English teacher asked students to write a famous author and ask for advice. Kurt Vonnegut was the only one to respond - and his response i...s magnificent: Dear Xavier High School, and Ms. Lockwood, and Messrs Perin, McFeely, Batten, Maurer and Congiusta: I thank you for your friendly letters. You sure know how to cheer up a really old geezer (84) in his sunset years. I dont make public appearances any more because I now resemble nothing so much as an iguana. What I had to say to you, moreover, would not take long, to wit: Practice any art, music, singing, dancing, acting, drawing, painting, sculpting, poetry, fiction, essays, reportage, no matter how well or badly, not to get money and fame, but to experience becoming, to find out whats inside you, to make your soul grow. Seriously! I mean starting right now, do art and do it for the rest of your lives. Draw a funny or nice picture of Ms. Lockwood, and give it to her. Dance home after school, and sing in the shower and on and on. Make a face in your mashed potatoes. Pretend youre Count Dracula. Heres an assignment for tonight, and I hope Ms. Lockwood will flunk you if you dont do it: Write a six line poem, about anything, but rhymed. No fair tennis without a net. Make it as good as you possibly can. But dont tell anybody what youre doing. Dont show it or recite it to anybody, not even your girlfriend or parents or whatever, or Ms. Lockwood. OK? Tear it up into teeny-weeny pieces, and discard them into widely separated trash recepticals. You will find that you have already been gloriously rewarded for your poem. You have experienced becoming, learned a lot more about whats inside you, and you have made your soul grow. God bless you all!
