25.01.2022 Making cities greener ... came across this discussion paper this morning. We should expect all levels of government to readily support open space and city gardens without hesitation. Green cities are far more pleasant to live in. Take Singapore for example ... could you live in a city sitting close to the equator if it was a concrete jungle? Barcelona a great example - Moreton Shire planning Poor example. What we see up in Moreton Shire at present is continued wanton remova...l of vast green corridors for small allotment housing, little improved public resourcing to support these satellite suburbs, a piddly minimum % of green space in design with major loss of fauna habitats particularly koalas, kangaroos, echidnas and small marsupials. None of their planning appears sustainable and not one larger parkland planned ... that we know of .. all we will see from Mt Mee lookouts are a sea of roofs. #futurecities #greeningcities #greenspaces #botanicgardens #citycalming #moretonshirecouncil #deadkoalas

10.01.2022 Help stop the spread! An unwanted fungi is blooming in our forests. Next time you are out nature walking, hiking, working in our forests watch for a very bright orange fungus and follow the suggested hygiene guidelines #orangepingpingbatsfungus http://myco.org.au/tracking-the-invasive-orange-ping-pong/
05.01.2022 Who would have guessed Reason 3: Molecular Evidence Demonstrates Fungi Are More Closely Related to Animals Than to Plants Fungi and animals form a clade called opisthokonta, which is named after a single, posterior flagellum present in their last common ancestor. Today, this posterior flagellum propels primitive fungal spores and animal sperm alike. Further facts to support that fungicides can have s negative effect on plant and soil micro fauna.
