21.01.2022 A great way to symbolise the union between a man and a woman is through a candle lighting ceremony incorporated into their wedding ceremony. Two candles, representing the couple as individuals, are used to light a single centre candle as a visible symbol of their commitment to each other. The centre candle can be lit by a parent from each side, the best man and maid of honour, the bride and groom or anyone else who may be important to the couple. The centre candle also makes a great keepsake and can be relit each year on the couple's wedding anniversary.

20.01.2022 This would have to be my favourite wedding photo. We snickered when the groom accidentally said "awful" wife instead of "lawful" wife but we couldn't hold back the laughter when the bride did the same and this photo captures that moment beautifully!

19.01.2022 It was an honour to marry Toni (my colleague) and Adrian.

19.01.2022 Do you want to celebrate the birth of your baby with your family and friends but don't want to have a christening or baptism in a church? Another more informal alternative is to have a naming ceremony which can be officiated by a celebrant. Getting out into the backyard or the local park or gardens is a great way to acknowledge the new addition to your family and enjoy the great outdoors even if it is for just an hour or two! A candle lighting ceremony is a nice inclusion in a naming and provides a lasting memento of the occasion. Another option is to have a Wishes Jar (as pictured). Guests can write their wishes for your baby's future on small pieces of paper and these can be kept in the jar (or perhaps a money box for a boy) as a keepsake from the occasion.

18.01.2022 A wedding reception can be quite a costly component of your wedding budget. So why not have your wedding and reception in your (or a friend or relative's) backyard just like Carla and Michael did recently. Not only can you save on the costs of meals and drinks by choosing one of a number of catering options available or having family and/or friends help with the cooking, but it makes a convenient place to get ready for the wedding and saves on the cost of wedding cars as well. So it's well worth considering!

11.01.2022 Welcome to my brand new Facebook page. I have been an authorised marriage celebrant for over 10 years and enjoy helping to make that special day for couples a memorable one. So what better way to promote my services than social media. Thank you for liking my page.

01.01.2022 A long happy marriage is well worth celebrating especially when a significant milestone is reached eg 25 or 50 years. A vow renewal is a perfect way to do this, with family, friends and/or original wedding party members present. I would like to share a poem I wrote for just this type of occasion. A Celebration of Life Together by Annette Savery... We met when we were young And we fell for one another, We realised that we couldn't live Another day without each other. We worked hard to earn a living And to make ourselves a home, We went through many ups and downs But we never felt alone. We were blessed to become parents And loved our children as much as we should, We helped them learn and helped them grow To be the best they could. We have bid farewell to our children From the family nest, We have grandchildren to enjoy And friends with whom we jest. We keep ourselves quite busy But always find time to say, We love each other with all our hearts And will til our dying day. We thank you for sharing this day with us It truly is a pleasure, We celebrate a great milestone And this day we will always treasure. PS The Wishes Jars I mentioned yesterday are available from some newsagents and gift shops!
