23.01.2022 Do you lack motivation or have no motivation? Does this prevent you from doing what you want with your horse? This lack of drive can often be caused by overwh...elm, depression, mindset, diet, tiredness, work or family commitments. What can help overcome this lack of motivation is setting small steps to ignite the passion again. Make sure your bigger goals are in small chunks, surround yourself with supportive people with a positive mindset. Many times I have faced this myself. Some times tasks seem so big that I can't face starting. I am totally overwhelmed by what needs to be done. So I put off for days or weeks, making that first step. In the Starting steps program, I have split everything down into small chunks and increments, because I know how it feels to be lacking desire to get out and do stuff. The start of your in-hand work is taking you in gradual steps, so you have time to learn the positioning of yourself and horse. The lunging is from the in-hand position, and you will play between the two modalities. The ridden section is simple patterns, and I talk you through on the audio recordings what to look for, within yourself and your horse. I will also guide you in breathing techniques and grounding exercises that can be used on or off the horse. Breaking the process down doesn't just help with your motivation; it also is beneficial to your horse throughout its training. I am so hoping I can help you find your mojo again. Our community on this course will work together to support and encourage each other to keep making progress. Let us step together and be the best version we can be for our horse. 21.01.2022 So this is my latest creation. Children's Audio lessons, I cant tell you how much fun I had creating these set of three lessons. I allowed my inner child to t...he surface and go wild as I created the lesson through imagination and a world of fantasy. In these lessons, the children learn to ride while having fun and laughter. This first lesson takes us on a train journey around Western Australia and the Northern Territory. The children join in as they drive the train and serve the passengers drinks. This could be the perfect gift for a child you know. Click on the link below to find out more. https://annmontgomery.podia.com/audio-downloads

21.01.2022 Building muscle on horses can be daunting and disappointing as you work so hard to help your horse develop. I see it all the times riders trying their best and ...working so hard but months or years later they still haven't achieved what they would like to see. I have experienced it myself in the past, which took me onto a search for more information and over many years I have gathered lots of skills and knowledge that I would like to share with you. In this program the horses understanding, turns into confidence and harmony with you as they develop their body and become proud and strong but supple, it shows in their body, mind and attitude. The horse recognizes you as the guardian who they want to be with because you helped them reach this place. 20.01.2022 The detail I can see and adjust is always so rewarding for me when I do in-hand work with horses. The small alterations to the posture of myself, which reflects in my horse is incredible. As time goes on, I use my gentle soft indications of how to improve the posture piece by piece, ribs, hind leg, shoulder etc.; this leads to a more true balance. Its a play of matching each others energy and increasing it or lowering it. I still find myself getting too high in my energy with... my mare Heidi, and I need to slow down to match her to make sure I don't overwhelm her. The truth is, this is difficult because, by nature, I am a high energy person, but Heidi keeps training me to slow down and notice the details. A few years ago, I found it so difficult to co-ordinate the aids, reins and varying positions; my arms got tired. I couldn't see the whole picture because I focused on one part of the horse. But with constant practice, taking small incremental steps in training, I am finding a rhythm and flow with my timing, energy and eyes. In the starting steps online program, you will find video recordings and PDF documents to build your new skills. Each Module adds a little more detail for you to add and practice. Breathing techniques are included along with grounding exercises. You will learn to play between in hand and lunging, and it becomes a dance between the two of you. Over the six weeks of the program, you will start to see the changes in your horse, emotionally and physically as they find balance. The confidence is increased; this leads to relaxation in mind and body. I am hoping you will join us on this beautiful journey into creating the partnership that both you and your horse dream about. 18.01.2022 The Timing of the aids. I am so thrilled by the achievements of the riders on the Timing of the Aids clinic at Metricup near Margaret River this weekend. This ...ended up being a massive learning curve for the riders that attended. Everyone was enthusiastic and working together to help each other gain the skills. The high concentration from all the riders was amazing to start to feel the swing forward of the hind leg. Once they could feel the swing phase we added a small aid to increase of the swing forward and flexion of the hind leg joints. We all know riders learn in different ways so visual, kinesthetic and auditory was used to help rider’s learn and tune into the feel. It was interesting how what they thought was happening on day one, was not correct at all, so the aid was at the wrong moment and creating a push backwards of the hind leg instead of a swing forward and carry. But by day two a lot of processing had happened overnight and after dreaming about where the legs were the girls were developing a great feel. Their awareness was heightened for some they noticed one side was clearer to feel compared to the other, their timing was beginning to develop and match the rhythm of the horse, they could feel when it was right or wrong. Everyone had learnt so many ways to know how to feel it, and will now be practising for the next few months at every opportunity while riding or in their mind as they replay the lessons in the imagination. 18.01.2022 CROSS FIBRE GROOMING Grooming is a great way to bond with your horse, locate tight spots and lightly massage the muscles. Cross fibre grooming is excellent for ...keeping the fascia conditioned, helping to smooth sticky fascia and break down adhesions. It stimulates circulation, increases relaxation and promotes release. Using the flat of your hands or your horse’s favourite brush or rubber curry comb, groom the hair at right angles to the direction of growth which is usually also at right angles to the underlying muscles. Cross fibre grooming, you horse will thank you for it. #belindabolsenbroekacademy #horselove #horseconnection #equinehealth #wellnessforhorses #notawasteoftime

15.01.2022 Thank you to all the wonderful support I have had from so many in 2020. To all my cheer squad including family, students, friends, neighbours and Heidi, M...alibu and merlot. Without all, I would never of created so much this year and beyond what I thought I was capable of a big thank you to Sarah Williams who had pushed me, kicked me and listened to me moan I can’t believe how patient she is. I wonder what 2021 will bring us all.

14.01.2022 A number of years ago I had an interesting lesson with a student. The rider was struggling with getting a constant contact with her horse. After watch both of them move around the arena for a while and seeing the mare, chomp, and fiddle with her tongue and bit I asked the rider where is your tongue sitting in your mouth? To this the rider stopped the horse and said how the hell did you know that so it turns out that this rider has a gap in-between one of her upper molars...Continue reading

For more info and booking click h...ere https://annmontgomery.podia.com/?coupon=BLACKFRIDAYSALE So often I see a partnership of horse and rider struggling because: (a) the horse is confused and doesn't understand what is required. So offers behaviours that are not required or wanted. (b) The rider can misunderstand this due to been told in the past make the horse respond he HAS to respect you etc etc. I see riders and horses frustrated, despondent and upset I have also been in that place of not knowing what I know now. The horse will never respect you if it is forced, especially when he is mentally confused or physically compromised. His whole demeanour will tell a story. I so want to help change that frustration into joy for both parties. The Starting Steps program encompasses in hand work to build a clear understanding of balancing the mind and body of the horse, by staying close to the horse to notice the detail and help direct the body into balance. Then moving to lunging and allowing the horse to feel its newfound balance out on the lunge. Carried into ridden under saddle with the audio lessons where you start to feel the balance and the work you have done on the ground been carried into your feel sense and awareness. I will be with you, speaking to you in the audio lesson, helping you notice and become aware of the balance in both you and your horse. Each week there is a component of each along with grounding yourself and noticing the emotional side of both you and your horse. Over the weeks the horses understanding turns into confidence and harmony with you. The horse recognizes you as the guardian who they want to be with. See more

04.01.2022 So often riders need to put a hold on training with their horse when one of them becomes injured. It's part of life that injuries happen to horse or rider. The ...day arrives, and at long last, they can ride again. Getting back on board comes with the worry that they may overdo it and re-injure themselves or the horse. They have to struggle back to fitness and are often not sure how to proceed. By doing in-hand work, the horse gets the opportunity to build tone without the weight of the rider on his back. The thoracic sling over the weeks of progressive training begins to gain tone; the ribs will slowly be raised between the shoulders and the withers lift. All this takes time, so don't be in a hurry; each horse is different. For the rider, they will be walking and getting fitter and observing lots of detail, plus at the same time assisting the horse in gaining straightness. Lunging at a slow pace; has excellent benefits, walking to start with and helping the horses posture. From this position, the trainer can see the whole picture of how the horse is developing in posture and mental relaxation. These short sessions of 5-15mins allow relaxation and slow deep practice of both horse and rider, both learn to have good movement patterns. Observation skills become honed into detail of the horse's movement and muscle development. Ridden sessions need to be simple and easy layouts of straight lines, large loops and circles. Each day you can choose if you are going to do in hand or ridden sessions. This 6-week program is the perfect place to start to come back into work. Each week the progression is gradual to build up both the rider and the horses development, balance, suppleness and strength that you are looking to regain. I will talk you through the ridden lessons and guide you on what to notice in your horse and yourself. You will also have videos to help you understand how to progress. Breathing and grounding work is added, which allows you to stay focused and centred. I am hoping you will join us so I can help you get back on track and stay sound. 02.01.2022 I love watching the eye of the horse, along with other indicators of what emotions the horse is showing. The facial cues, ears, nostrils, wrinkles that appear o...n the face, or maybe that the horse looks away. Often when a horse looks away, they are processing, the horse needs that time, and it can't be rushed. Of course, the horse looking away, can also be adrenaline based and alertness to fear, and while this is also a processing time for the horse, it needs to be dealt with differently until the horse becomes relaxed. All this information tells me so much about how the horse is receiving my training questions. Then my eyes glance over the body for muscle tension, stance, bracing, balance, tail swishing, tail tension, or a tail curled one way or the other. I consider all these indicators, and this leads me to how to progress with each individual horse. I assess that particular moment in time in our training. Some days I will continue and seek relaxation that will lead to chewing, swallowing or yawning and softening of the muscles of the body. Some days I have to change my plan to work with the horse's emotional state. I can't force it, just like a person that has a fear of heights they can't just overcome that fear, it takes time, guidance and patience as the trainer. In "The starting steps" my six-week online program, I will guide you to be able to recognize the emotions of your horse through subtle cues. This will significantly increase your ability to train with relaxation, harmony, flow and trust. Through this, you create a fantastic relationship with your horse. Along with this, you will be given exercises in hand, lunging, ridden and off personal horse growth. I would love you to come to join us, so I can guide you through the steps. Grab this opportunity to get 20% off the price on the BLACK FRIDAY SALE that is open now until midnight Sunday 29th November. The course starts on the 7th December but will take a 2-week break over Xmas and be completed in January 2021.
