24.01.2022 I have been doing some awesome mahi this week for Mahana Culture, creating film content for their new on line courses. I feel so lucky I get to work with such incredible people in culturally inclusive spaces which are deeply collaborative, and support such important projects in the world. Gratitude.
23.01.2022 This has been a very challenging week for self employed and small business. Many of us have had months of planned work and projects cancel and postpone, and are looking for options to adapt to the Covid19 crisis. To all my clients - I am offering support and reduced rates to help get your businesses, workshops and courses online, if this is the right direction forward for you. Feel free to call or email me for a chat if you need to, or want to talk about options.
22.01.2022 Am exploring some new graphic/iconographic ideas to represent deeper themes that are present with me. Sometimes words can't capture what we need to say, we need shapes and colours... Blue is the whare (house) of our biosphere, orange is the species who have evolved harmoniously over epochs of time to fit exactly into the niche shape that was created with/ by and for them, sharp-angled lines are the changing of that biosphere by humanity's exploitation of the earth's natural resources, it cuts into the blue house and the orange has to modify and adapt to survive, in doing so volume is lost, and eventually, they are lost - extinction occurs, the blue house, however, is also changed, more segregated, fragmented and less whole.... or perhaps it is just a blue and orange shape and nothing greater. What do you see?
21.01.2022 I got "permission to travel" today out to Little Yarra Steiner School to hang out with these awesome students and their creativity, playing with projections, book layouts and supporting the final art process. This generation has such important things to say! It is always such a joy and privilege to work with them.
20.01.2022 During lockdown restrictions, I had the absolute privilege of working with spoken word artist Trixi Rosa to create this piece of digital storytelling for the Emerging Writers’ Festival Program Launch: Digital Nostalgia. Such a joy to create sounds and visual themes from my homeland while boarders are closed and feeling far away. Check out the rest of the Poetry In Motion exhibition at the EWF. Link below.
20.01.2022 Missing my amazing Women in Harmony today and working on this incredible project of self-empowerment for migrant women, which was one of last years highlights.
18.01.2022 Would the ecosystem where you live notice if you left? Would you leave behind a different shape that had changed in response to your agency. I have been thinking about indigenous ancestral ways of being, as imperative parts of the system of nature. There is a woman who is a weaver. She harvests the grasses and reids along the creek for her work.... After many years, the plants respond to her regularly pruning by growing faster and more aggressively, the local ecosystem stays to depend on her cutting them to keep the balance. The birds know her route through the bush, they don't fly away startled when she passes as they expect her to come this way. Her track in the ground has worn down the scrub and allows space for new seeds germinate. Her place in the bio system has become an integral part of that system...as they respond to each other. When she becomes too old to weave anymore and walk the track to cut the grasses, the system will notice her absence and become unbalanced until it learns to adjust to her absence again. Do we have this kind of relationship with the ecosystem where we live? What would that feel like? Thoughts from covid lockdown restrictions of human movement - living wholey within a 5km radius. And a need to create pictograms.

13.01.2022 So...My collaborator Annie Edney and I have been hatching a new creative project... We are calling out to people in the community, to film a 4 min section of their day in social isolation on their smartphones. These films will be projected onto vacant shop windows who have closed for business along Brunswick St Fitzroy - activating empty streetscapes that would normally be busy. And also shared on social media using the #viralcells2020. By sharing our digital stories we hope ...to build connection and give expression to our shared experiences of loss of community and normal social interaction, loneliness, isolation as well as kindness and care. Although our streets feel empty our buildings are full... What if we could see though the walls to know others are there? The global pandemic has caused restrictive changes in lifestyle across the planet, impacting the way we work, live, love, care for others, negotiate safety and connection. It is a highly significant moment in history. Share your digital story and follow with us @Viralcells2020 See more
13.01.2022 Ohhh! Here is the video from the projection masterclass I attended earlier in the year. It has been a busy creative year indeed.
11.01.2022 Starting the year with some of my fave arts program design jobs Arts Mildura 2020
08.01.2022 Cleaning up some of my old social media posts today and I found this.. 2018 I wrote this blog and asked myself this question: "Will I ever design a really good piece of work for cultural impact or social change?"...fast forward 2.5 years, in the middle of covid restrictions... I have just come back from the printer checking samples for my work which has been shortlisted for the 'Incinerator Prize for Art for social change'. Amazing the seeds we sow! And I am so proud to bring graphic design into the art gallery setting. Who really knows what impact our visual work has in the world? But it is very humbling to be part of the process, somehow, somewhere...To be continued
06.01.2022 Back in Pakenham today for the beginning of Women in Harmony 2020. Am excited to meet a new group of women for the journey and share our stories together.
05.01.2022 Slowly, the arts industry beings to open up again, to probe and explore what just happened to us...But not in Melbourne, where we are still in stay home lockdown restrictions...There is nothing normal about this...although a splash of mustard has helped the medicine go down this week. Always a pleasure to create with Arts Mildura
