19.01.2022 I thought that was cute!

18.01.2022 Folks, here is couple hints as to how to manage the rubbish from your renovation. Being smart about it will help you do your bit for the environment and you might even make some money but if you don't, the saving is guaranteed. Plan your demolition. 1. Kitchen, vanities laundry etc can all be either sold or given away - eBay and gum tree. 2. Anything metal (sink, old ovens, tap-ware, copper pipes etc...) can be stored aside & be given or sold to a scrap metal 3. Cardboard ca...n be disposed of free of charge at any local waste transfer station. 4. Bulky items like sofas can be disposed of through your local council's hard rubbish collection program. 5. Brick in good condition can be stacked on a pallet & be taken away by second hand brick merchants free of charge. 6. Finally the left overs... If you have a trailer and planning to go to the local tip then tidy it up... Tiles cement rock first (recycle) hardwood garden waste natural non treated timber second (recycle) & anything else on the top (landfill) and that is where the cost is. There is benefits in doing so, first you will save time when it comes to unloading your trailer, second if you have a mix then it's treated as mix and you pay for the load as oppose what can be recycled. 7. Paint is expensive to dispose of, so take the lead off leave the can dry in the sun. Then it become general rubbish and if its in a metal can then it is recyclable which means free charge Savings can be anywhere between 2-10% of the total cost of your renovation Good luck

17.01.2022 Step ahead and go green.... De La Paz weighs in on this one, saying, "People will often make the mistake of not going green with their home project for two reasons: (A), They don't know how to, and (B), they think that it costs more money." Not necessarily true, emphasizes Evans, "If you're doing your renovation green, you're really ahead of the market right now. So going green is a very smart investment."

17.01.2022 Guys, a good article on some common DIY disasters and how to avoid them. Regards

16.01.2022 Tips for painting: a good paint job will enhance your renovation no matter how big or small the renovation is. But choosing the right colour and colour combination and good preparation will make the difference between a beautiful & successful renovation where everyone feels like home and the renovated house. 1. Keeping contrast to a minimum will bring harmony in your house 2. Avoid strong colours and feature walls in small rooms 3. If you are planning to sell your house neu...tral colours are winners and will suite anyone, one of Australia's most popular colour is Antique White USA with the following combination - Ceilings Antique White USA at 1/10 of strength - Wall Antique White USA at 1/2 strength - Wood work at full strength 4. Depending on the age and condition of your house going for flat finish on the walls will help minimise imperfections on your walls (visual effect). This does not mean that the prep work should not be done properly. Also satin colour for your wood work will have the same effect and will give your home a modern edge. Hope the above help all those of you who are in the process or thinking about renovating and painting; soon I will share some photos meanwhile wish you all happy painting.... See more

04.01.2022 Going too trendy: "People often make the mistake of wanting to be too hip and trendy in their new home by picking the latest, hottest, coolest things," says De La Paz. "What they don't take into consideration is that trendy means that it's short term."
