24.01.2022 We’re feeling very grateful that we can still operate our studio as normal, however, thought it timely to remind you that our covid-prevention measures are still in place and they only work when they involve ALL of us. - Please sanitise your hands when you arrive AND when you leave (sanitiser is provided). - Roll your mat back from the marking on the floor: this ensures that we are adhering to the correct social distancing standards as stipulated by Qld Health & with guidan...ce from Yoga Australia (here, 1.5m apart from edge to edge; this spacing requirement differs according to your studio’s useable floor size and is not a ‘one size fits all’ guideline) - BYO mat & props if you need them. You are welcome to use ours but you MUST clean them EACH time with the antibacterial products provided. - Stay home if you are unwell. And, please, just be extra-mindful of your movements around each other. We promise to keep you updated if anything changes. See you soon!



23.01.2022 SHOWING UP Particularly in our health & wellness zone, as individuals we assume what can be a very vulnerable and public position. We stand on our mats next to other practitioners/clients/teachers to ‘hold the space;’ with one another we share warmth and hope to inspire, nourish and cultivate attitude, belief and ways of being - or ways of finding your way back to - the Self. Honestly, showing up for ourselves this year has felt like bit of a challenge at times. There is clea...rly a shift or transition phase occurring in the world at large and while that’s so bl**dy exciting, it’s also calling on some energy reserves from very very deep down, for many of us. Our go-to for soul-nourishing resilience and respite? Simply arriving on our mat and feeling what naturally sparks. When you allow us to guide you back to a place of stability, of calm and grace and honour, you’re also holding us - as the guide - accountable to our own spaces and practices. 21.01.2022 Someone recently asked me if I thought that they would be ‘okay’ in a particular class, or, which class do I recommend to ‘ease into it?’ Fair question? Well... Fair, in that humanly traits like apprehension, curiosity, physical & health restraints and fear all exist and that does have an impact on some of us, in terms of where they decide to place themselves and their energy.... Unfair though, in that they feel they already exist inside of a category or place, that they are a cookie-cutter of standing; that they feel like a negotiation and that those imperfections outweigh their intentions, or that there exists a need to accomplish, to gain or to lose. It could have been much easier for me to steer them deeply into their comfort zones, to give them the answer that they wanted, but that’s not really what our movement and mindfulness is about at Antara. Entrenching ourselves in cosy definitely has its place (even I love a good spacious retreat into places and people sometimes), but if consistent comfort is the number one thing that you’re looking for in life, I’d ask you to perhaps explore why. This second-guessing of our perceived ability over feeling and appreciating what we have is something that I have my own dance with from time to time. We sometimes rock it out furiously in a mosh pit of insecurity and comparison, other days we waltz like it’s nobody’s business and we don’t even step on our own toes. Self-doubt sure can be an ugly monster, and a difficult dance partner. My answer to those beautiful people was: yes, and, any of them, because: True movement and mindfulness practices offer us ADAPTABILITY, and wherever there is the ability to adapt, there is space for us all to exist in the alchemy of acceptance and gratitude. That sounds fair to me. A

20.01.2022 We did a thing! Perhaps not our usual Sunday activities (but we’re happy to go where there is champagne, right?! ).... practising what we teach, stepping out of our comfort zones for some and harnessing the chance to really bust out some creative expression for others: this was our afternoon to celebrate our amazing little 2020 team! I cannot express the depths of my gratitude to these amazing women (including the ones that weren’t able to make it) - without your warmth, s...upport, willingness and kindness we wouldn’t be where we are now. I’m truly excited about what we can bring to the world and what we can create together. This really is just the beginning Thank you, from the absolute bottom of my heart. 16.01.2022 KIDS YOGA I don’t know about you, but term three has always felt the longest for us; my three little people seem to get particularly tired the closer we edge to the end of this term.... I know that they’re definitely ready for a break! Our Kids Yoga has four sessions left before we pause for the holidays. We aim to support your children by allowing them to simply be, teaching them conscious breathing and showing them how to direct their energy peacefully; we plant seeds that ...they learn to nurture that eventually grow into new ideas, inner confidence and awareness...... and some days it’s important to just shake off the crankies and nerves by doing something that makes them smile. In a respectable nod to tradition, our logo is a polished combination of two iconic symbols that represent the virtues of a mindful life practice: the eternally graceful lotus and the guiding hand of Ahimsa. ... At its heart, sits a triangle: not only a symbol of trinity (thought, feeling + emotion; past, present + future; body, mind + spirit) and a symbol of energetic gateway, but representative of what resides at our core - YOU. And as fate would have it, that triangle wasn’t a planned element - it was 100% organic! A natural culmination of good intention and karmic purpose. 10.01.2022 Resolutely, abide in good spaces. (Sthira sukham asanam) Anyone else relishing in the little gaps, right now? Taking in the space between the busy-ness? Or even better, making the breaks happen?... It can be challenging, to actively choose to step back or stay quiet; to re-prioritise, even. We’ve been a little quiet on here and I promise that we’re not absent or MIA - quite the opposite, to be honest. We’re practising what we teach; trying to consciously choose and appreciate the little rests, the pauses between the jobs or places or things; Trying to not feel into external pressures, not filling the feed with something - anything - just because it’s expected. 10.01.2022 These last few weeks of the year are escaping us rather quickly (as they tend to do in the lead up to Christmas )... ... and as a result, it can be hard to keep ourselves ‘in the frame,’ to stay calm and organised, and to keep enjoying what we already have. Even when it feels near impossible and we feel that we’re getting swept up in the cyclone of busy-ness, we are taking regular pauses to practice gratitude and introspection in blissful stillness, listening to the soothing... reliability of our breath and surrounding ourselves with the people and doing the things that keep that little fire burning inside of us. We’ve made some teeny tiny changes to our timetable over the holiday period: this is a gentle reminder to please check our website or the WellnessLiving app for all the updates. 07.01.2022 This is a line that has stayed with me for longer than I can remember. These words are SO much more than being about returning home after being away. Ram Dass was reflecting on collective human comradery in the pursuit of truly knowing ourselves. One in, all in. ... Giving is a growth process, a universal and cyclical phenomena.... when we give from the heart, without expectation of return, we end up receiving more than we can imagine. Sometimes the wisdom is clear from the outset and sometimes, time passes before we recognise it. And, some of the best exchanges are the simplest ones, especially when the ‘giver’ isn’t even aware of their own impact and generosity: your coffee hand-made by the barista, the drawings brought home by your kids, the door held open by a stranger, the high-five of a teammate, the laughter of a friend.... all those beautiful little things are actually the really big things in the end. The ‘festival of lights’ or ‘row of lamps’ is a Hindu celebration stretching way back to the Ramayana, and is now considered to be one of the most important and joyous celebrations of the Hindu year. Spanning over five days, the celebration begins with the most important ritual of cleansing the home and person, followed by lights, candles, lanterns, bright clothing, flowers, henna painting, meal sharing, praying and dancing. The goddess Lakshmi and her adoptiv...e son Ganesh are worshipped during this celebration as Diwali ultimately celebrates the victory of LIGHT OVER DARKNESS; GOOD OVER EVIL; KNOWLEDGE OVER IGNORANCE. While I, and many of you, are not of Hindu origin, the meaning of Diwali is universally understood and my intention is to respectfully nod to the roots of our practice. Collectively, as people who practice or participate in yoga, our intention is to ‘lighten up’ or purify by means of unifying body, mind and spirit; our intention is to lift the veil of ignorance to see and share the light. When we experience darkness, big or small, we innately seek the light of clarity, love and wisdom from those sages or teachers before us, those around us, and from within..... we look to welcome warmth into our homes and hearts after we have cleansed ourselves of the shadow. This celebration of realisation, of unity, is Diwali.
