20.01.2022 > THANK YOU < If you take nothing else away from this wordy post, take a thank you. Thank you for supporting my vision of a healthy, connected, and empowered Latrobe City, by supporting my campaign to be elected as a councillor here. ... Thank you for your time, and your organisational ability. For your footsteps, and your pedal power. For your professional mentorship, and spiritual grounding. For your donations of money, and healthy, homemade food. For hosting my face in your front yard, and your pep talks over zoom and text and all the technologies. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING. Just like the flower and the bee, I showed up for my village, and my village showed up for me. I appreciate you. This would not have been possible without you. I remain committed to my vision for our region and beyond, no matter the outcome of this election. I remain committed in soul and in action. To support that, I’m going to take a much needed rest while the ballot packs do their thing. See you on the other side!!! 10.01.2022 Vote 1 Anthea Merson Teamwork | Innovation | Dedication | Resilience In 2015, I was part of a 30 strong crew who built Fiji's first ever Earthship - a self-sufficient building made from majority natural or reclaimed materials, including locally sourced bamboo, and scrap car tyres. ... The building survived Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston in 2016, the most intense Southern Hemisphere tropical cyclone on record, which flattened over 40,000 homes in Fiji alone, and now grows vegetables on its sloped, green walls. A demonstration of what is possible when people work together with vision and dedication, the type of vision and dedication I bring with me into this election. Image descriptions: 1. A building made of tyres and natural materials, with a tropical forest backdrop. 2. Roughly thirty sweaty people, in front of a partially made structure. Anthea is wearing orange. 3. Eight people carrying a log using ropes attached to bamboo poles. Anthea is wearing purple. Authorised by Anthea Merson, PO Box 27 Newborough, Victoria 3825.
09.01.2022 I just wanted to jump on and share my candidate statement in a voice form so that you could hear me and see me and see what it means to me... Vote 1 Anthea Merson, West Ward, for a healthy, connected, and empowered community. I've lived, studied, and worked in the Latrobe Valley, and call Newborough home. I'm an active participant in the community; I volunteer with disadvantaged youth through Lions Sponsored Camps; work to enhance soil health, waterways, and air quality; an...d have been a long-term food donor to a local soup kitchen. I have skills and experience to make an impact in decision making and action. As we face new challenges, I will provide strong, compassionate leadership, and advocate to the state and federal government for resources. We have an opportunity to think outside the box, think big, and create a collective and inspiring community that celebrates our strength and diversity. There are new initiatives across Gippsland and opportunities to work together, building the region to be better connected, educated, healthier, and improve the quality of life for all. Latrobe City can lead the way with a just transition to new energy, creating opportunities for jobs, education, and investment, ensuring no one is left behind. Moe, Newborough and surrounds are great places to live and we can strengthen them with more attention and care. I will listen to my community and speak on your behalf. I am guided by best practice, finding inspiration from thriving communities, and current scientific research findings. With the Gippsland Community Leadership Program almost completed, now is the time to bring my perspective and youthful energy to Latrobe City Council. A vote for Anthea Merson is a vote for health, happiness and prosperity. I'm interested to hear your comments, suggestions and questions, you can reach me at [email protected] / 0409 226 810 / Facebook / Instagram.
