25.01.2022 Works in situ for 'Vestige' @ Queen Street Gallery, Woollahra. (Artfully framed by the bleedin' ladder I was up and down all day...)

24.01.2022 Well, after a year's solid work, the moment of truth is finally nigh. My solo exhibition 'Vestige' @ Queen Street Gallery, Woollahra, opens this Thursday night, then runs for two weeks. Won't pretend I'm not mildly soiling myself. This will be my 11th exhibition, but it never gets any easier. Not complaining, though. I'd rather be doing this than anything else.... 'Untitled (Doonella #1)', acrylic on canvas, 120cm x 120cm

24.01.2022 Getting back in the studio after a lengthy hiatus. Amazing what you find in the boxes. Studies and drawings from more than twenty years ago. Looking forward to being productive again.

24.01.2022 What hope do the paintings have? Paula Bycroft, being all minx-a-licious on opening night....

23.01.2022 For those who haven't had a chance to check out my exhibition, (or those who, heaven forbid, might like to have a second look), join me this Sunday, November 3rd between 2pm - 5pm for afternoon drinkies at the gallery. I might even give a little talk about the work, but don't let that put you off. You can have a wee glass (or two) of something, check out the paintings, stroke your chin thoughtfully, maybe nod knowingly as you read my artist statement. Let's face it, the possi...bilities are pretty much endless.... That's Queen Street Gallery, 28 Queen Street, Woollahra, this Sunday, Nov 3, between 2pm - 5pm. Hope to see you there. 'After Tuckson' (detail)

21.01.2022 My exhibition 'Scratching the Surface' ended this week. A big thanks once again to everyone who attended the fantastic opening (more than 70 people filled the gallery) or who made a special effort to come along during its two-week run. Thanks also to Lynn Pearce at Gallery 503 for her great space, friendship and encouragement (and sensational framing!) Hopefully we can do it again next year. But remember, you don't have to wait for an exhibition to own a Griffis. I'm always here, ready to do a 'studio door' deal! Hmm, why do I have Tom Waits' 'Step Right Up' in my head now?

21.01.2022 Love a speech, me....

21.01.2022 One of the works that will be finding a new home... 'After Tuckson', oil on canvas, 30cm x 30cm

20.01.2022 A huge thank you to everyone who came to my exhibition 'Vestige', which wrapped up on Wednesday. You helped make it the success it was, and I really appreciate the support. Ended up selling nine works, which is of course fantastic. Even better in some respects, though, I caught up with people I had not seen for years. Lovely. I'm already bubbling with ideas for the next show, hopefully mid- to late-2014. And if you'll forgive the shameless self-promotion, works are always available direct from my studio. Hot off the easel, you might say. Muchos love x

20.01.2022 The time draws nigh! Join me for opening drinks at my new exhibition, 'Scratching the Surface', on Saturday October 29th from 5-7pm, @ Gallery 503. Hope you can make it!

18.01.2022 It's the final day of my exhibition 'Vestige' @ Queen Street Gallery, 28 Queen St. Woollahra. I'm here for the duration, so pop in if you get a chance.

17.01.2022 Some shots I took recently which might form the basis of a future exhibition. I love the abstract nature of these glimpses.

16.01.2022 'Vestige' opening night...

15.01.2022 First post-exhibition glimmerings. Found 25 discarded MDF panels, each one 30 x 30cm, during a walk earlier this week. I've been experimenting with the human form, pushing it further into the abstract. I gessoed the panels, painted them black, then used a palette knife as a drawing tool, carving into the wet surface. The results remind me of drawings on an old-fashioned school blackboard. I think I like them.

13.01.2022 Amazing turnout for my exhibition opening at Gallery 503 last night. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who came and supported me. Such a good night. Four red dots... went up. That people are prepared to pay to have my work in their home is a thrill that never gets old. Manning the show today feeling a little worse for wear... See more

11.01.2022 'Aida' in situ. (Sold)

11.01.2022 Artist and muse.....

11.01.2022 My exhibition 'Vestige' opened last night. What a great soiree. Heaps of people (so many, in fact, it made it a little difficult to actually see any art at times), including one or two art world big-hitters, who I didn't know were coming. Probably just as well, as I'd have been even more nervous than I already was. Fantastic response to the work. Two red dots went up last night, followed by another this morning, when someone walked in off the street and bought one of the major paintings, 'Aida'. Hoo-bloody-ray!! Paula and I were so busy gibbering to people last night, we didn't get a chance to snap any pics, but this one came through bright and early this morn, thanks Fazz.

10.01.2022 So far, these works are off to new homes. Hope they behave...

10.01.2022 Works in situ. 'Sarkasmos', 'Untitled 1 & 2', and 'Thaw'

08.01.2022 Seems an appropriate sort of day to unveil three new works, plus one of them 'in situ'. Happy with their (deceptive) simplicity. One of those rare times when I was able to back away from the easel before completely stuffing everything up. (Well, I guess I should let you be the judge of that!) I actually find them quite peaceful to look at...

07.01.2022 My new exhibition, 'Scratching the Surface', installed at Gallery 503. Very happy with the way the works all hang together (so to speak.) Show is open right now, with drinks tomorrow, Saturday October 29th from 5-7pm at the gallery. Gallery 503, 503 Balmain Rd Lilyfield. Hope you can drop by to help me celebrate.

07.01.2022 Arty as all get out. I might look as though I'm pondering my artistic future, I'm actually wondering when it might be okay to have a little pre-opening drink. Just to settle the nerves, you understand... Also, notice how I go to the effort of dressing to match the work? Seconds of though went into that...

06.01.2022 Just a reminder for anyone interested and available, feel free to join me for a wee beverage in the gallery this afternoon between 2pm and 5pm. Might also be cheese, because that's what you do at an art gallery, isn't it? You have wine and cheese. Queen Street Gallery, 28 Queen St, Woollahra. Hope to see you there!

06.01.2022 I have an exhibition of paintings and drawings looming late October at a funky new gallery in Sydney's inner-west. Details to follow soon. Meanwhile, these works are still available, free from gallery commissions and overheads, direct from the studio door (so to speak.) The larger prints (110 x 82cm) are $500, the two smaller prints (60 x 90cm) are $350. All are high-quality digital prints on stretched canvas. From my Excavation series. If interested, PM me.

05.01.2022 Big day hanging my exhibition 'Vestige' at Queen Street Gallery, Woollahra. Very happy with how it's looking so far. Few tweaks to do, but pretty much all set for official opening tomorrow night.

04.01.2022 My new website's just gone live. www.anthonygriffis.com. Also, I'm pleased to announce the dates for my next exhibition @ Gallery 503 in Rozelle, Sydney. The yet-to-be-titled show will run from October 27th - November 9th, with opening drinks on Sat Oct 29th 5-7pm. Hope you can make it along!

02.01.2022 Zoe following her mother's lead, while Sam has perfected the art snob's haughty expression. Nice work, everyone, the hours of training have paid off....

02.01.2022 Massive afternoon at the gallery. Great turn out and five works sold. So excited. It doesn't matter how many exhibitions you have, the excitement of having someone buy your art never fades. Well, not for me anyway... Thank you to everyone who made the time to come along. Much appreciated. One of the works going to a new home, 'Thaw', oil & acrylic on canvas, 101cm x 76cm
