25.01.2022 What’s going down in Antiquate town new designs collaborations workshops are back

24.01.2022 When an idea comes to mind, I know it’s not mine to own. It’s to explore, enjoy, and experience sure.. But if I choose not to act on it, or let fear get in the way, the idea will float on by to another willing soul.... That’s why it’s so important to listen every day and act when you feel called Photo @theacimage of my girl ‘Penelope’

24.01.2022 Cushion drop All the details you need to know!

23.01.2022 This was a moment. Not only had I just completed my first solo leather project.. Not only was this a very special piece, for a very special family..... But it sparked a memory that really made me realise how far I’d come. Years ago having a conversation with my first ever mindset coach, Georgia, I remembered saying.. ‘I’d really love to be an upholsterer, but we also want to start a family, so I really don’t think I can do both’ Thank goodness I was talking to the right person to set me straight! The image she told me to hold in my mind - the workshop, the family, the projects, the feeling, all of it... I realised in that moment I was actually living. Forever grateful for our paths crossing that fateful day G

23.01.2022 Victor & Hugo Twin brothers So similar yet each so unique...... Victor: Older of the two. Likes to dress well and be on time, enjoys a good laugh with friends but a very gentle soul who much prefers some quite time at home. Academic and well mannered. Secretly admires his brothers outgoing personality and fearlessness. Hugo: The crazy one. Will wear shorts to a wedding, talks way too loud and always the life of the party. Never brushes his hair despite it always looking perfect and prefers a ‘go with the flow’ philosophy of life. Looks up to his brother as the rock that brings strength and stability in their lives. * * * #antiquate #upholstery #upholsteryart #Furniture #Artist #Melbourneartist #Melbourneupholstery #Australianmade #Handmade #Customupholstery #Fibreartist #Wovenart #Zerowaste #Waronwasteau #Waronwaste #Reuse #Recycle #Reupholster #Fibreart #Weaversofinstagram #Makersofinstagram #Statementfurniture #Design #handmadehome #handmadecraft #handmadedecor #handmadefurniture #fibreartistsofinstagram #fibreartsaustralia #fibreartaustralia @ Taggerty, Victoria

20.01.2022 As part of the ‘Collaboration Captured’ series for our gorgeous chairs Romney + Quinn, I wanted to share with you all the seemingly small things that have made such a huge difference in how I choose to express through my art. This incredibly simple step in the video may seem like no big deal, but there was a time (not that long ago) that I truly felt I wasn’t doing it right if I wasn’t following someone else’s steps/techniques.. This couldn’t be further from the truth!... The magical moments only start to appear when you stop following other people, and start following your heart! Sounds corny I know, but it is so incredibly true. So here’s a little video on one of my favourite ways that I add texture to my fibre art #collaborationcaptured #romneyandquinn Zetta Kanta

20.01.2022 Workshops are back Looking at this last workshop makes me SO excited to get back into it! Playing with gorgeous fibres, surrounded by gorgeous humans whilst soaking up the fresh air in a gorgeous garden... all whilst creating your own unique piece of magic... ... Ahhh my heart feels happy just thinking about it! Currently working out details for a special one day workshop in Feb - will have details out to you shortly! What would you make? A wickedly wild ottoman? A nature abundant wall art? An eclectic mix of materials? I LOVE seeing everyone’s visions come to life!

20.01.2022 One of my favourite interviews with the gorgeous Dom Flo @Loveinwildplaces

18.01.2022 Sunday’s are for creating magic ... so is every other day

17.01.2022 You need to see this fabric!!

16.01.2022 I have a vision that keeps playing out in my mind. I see it day and night, through any frantic rush hour or still quiet moments. I can see even the minor of details...... The tone of their voices, The manicured stubble on their faces, Their effortlessly fashionable clothes, The glorious building we sit in, The old world character of all the details, The conversation and jokes we enjoy, The paperwork we flick through and sketches that are made, The energy in the air, It’s all there. It’s palpable. The contract is signed, all systems go. Time to create some themed Upholstery Art chairs for every room of this exquisite boutique hotel Which hotel? I’m not sure yet... but that hardly matters. It’s in the air and it’s in my vision. Creating bespoke furniture art that connects humans to the space in which they inhabit, rest, trade, or just BE is what I am about. There are endless ways in which it can be done and there are endless ways I can dream it into reality. Having the utterly gorgeous accomodation Kangaroo Ridge Retreat enriched with my designs has been such an honour. I look forward to working with more incredible businesses that desire something uniquely them! If you’re looking for something different for your space, or know someone who might be, tag them in! I’d love to chat Video with great thanks to Aaron The AC Image and the Murrindindi Shire Council

15.01.2022 Working on this beauty tomorrow Any guesses of fabric colour/style?! I’ll give you a hint...it’s going to be quite a showstopper

15.01.2022 Nothing quite like a ‘mumma ~ daughter ~ weaving ~ date’ ...in the sunshine

15.01.2022 Here’s a gorgeous video Zetta Kanta put together, to show a glimpse of our journey naturally dyeing our fibres for Romney + Quinn. This was something I had literally zero experience in, and Zetta had tried only a handful of times. We knew natural dyeing on this large a scale could be tricky, especially because of our minimal knowledge and practise... but we felt the urge, trusted those feelings and said let’s do this! Not only was it a beautiful experience to practise lettin...g go of control but we created more depth and beauty then we’d ever thought possible. As this project comes into its final stages we cannot wait to share more moments like this #antiquate #zettakantastudios #collaborationcaptured #romneyandquinn #naturaldyeing #ecodyeing

14.01.2022 The beginning The exciting bit is... I have no idea where this will go and how the final piece will look ... Yep, that took a few deep breaths for me to admit to you all. Sure I have a guideline, a brief, a colour scheme - a rough idea... But if I stuck to the known rules, techniques and a pattern from start to finish, I’d in turn be blocking all the unique inspired ideas that come through to be explored in that particular moment on that specific piece. If I didn’t listen in and create from this space, I’d end up with a whole bunch of art that looks the same. That’s not what I’m about, I can’t do art that way. I’m only just discovering that not being able to plan perfectly is one of my superpowers, I always thought it was a downfall. Now that I understand art needs trust, it makes sense that controlling the outcome isn’t where the magic is found. Stay tuned - this will be my biggest framed fibre piece to date!

13.01.2022 I wish I could easily articulate why creating ‘Coorah’ was so important for me. Not only was I further developing my skills and pushing my boundaries by including nature in its purest form into my work... But I was discovering another layer of myself in the process.... I always knew I loved textures, nature and combining different materials. That to me, wasn’t a surprise. What surprised me though, was how genuinely connected I felt to this artwork whilst working with these materials. I wasn’t ‘using’ materials. I was living and creating through the materials and following their lead. This is where, I believe, intuition plays a HUGE role in creative practises. When we listen, I mean truly listen, there is something extraordinary that happens. You no longer feel like you are a ‘somebody’ creating. You are everything... and everything is you. Where ‘you’ the human physical form ends and ‘you’ the artwork starts is non existent. So here is Coorah, she’s just as much a part of me as my arms and legs. She is my energy and she is my love. Coorah is available for her forever home, head over to the website shop if you’re interested Photos by The AC Image

12.01.2022 It’s happening... it’s actually happening! I just decided to reupholster my kitchen stools... because at 6pm that’s a great thing to start Bets wanted to help..... I started popping the staples up, and I showed her how to twist the staples out with pliers. She’s actually doing it all by herself! I wasn’t sure when her ‘helping’ would actually be helping but it’s happened! This is a moment well done my girl! Betty: ‘Now I don’t need to go to daycare coz I can be an upholsterer this week!’

11.01.2022 Can you tell the front vibe from the back?! Love love loooove what this one is evolving into!

09.01.2022 No fooling this gorgeous girl Penelope heard the borders are open.. booked in a trim and oil,... and packed her bags In a few days time I’ll be sending her off to her new family in Canberra Stay vibrant my darling girl!

09.01.2022 In the beginning it was the fact that I was saving waste from landfill. That was what I was banking on to grasp peoples attention and allow them to fall in love with my designs. Wow, that sounds hideous. It was innocent I can assure you, but hideous none the less.... I made it about the chosen medium. The fibre. The fact that I was ‘saving the planet one scrap at a time’. Because if it was about that, then it could be likeable right? It never even occurred to me back then, that HOW I used that medium would be what mattered. On the outside, it may look like it starts with a bunch of matching colours and grows from there. But I can tell you that colours are about 3% of the process. Matching colours alone can create beauty, sure, but they can’t move you quite like something that has been energetically infused with intentionally interwoven narratives. Choosing each fibre for its colour, shade, texture, history, sense, feel, energy is part of the process. Looking at the art as a whole, whilst allowing and trusting the fibres to tell their own story is another part. Having patience for the story to form, intent for the feel of the art to evolve and love for each fibre, no matter how small and seemingly insignificant, is also a big part. It’s when these elements come together that I can create something that people connect to on a deeper level. Using fabric offcuts is great, and it’s all part of my ethos as a business... But it’s not the only reason people fall in love with my designs. Photo credit: Aaron, The AC Image

09.01.2022 Old vs new threads for our friends Romney + Quinn!! They’re deep in transformation mode now You can see a hint of Quinn’s fibre coat here, and Romney was about to strip.. He is (almost) fully clothed now and awaiting a fibre coat of his own. It’s a bit cold today so I better get cracking ... I’ll tell you one thing that’s becoming increasingly evident - These two characters are more than we could’ve dreamed of! It’s been quite the ride Zetta Kanta - Artists helping artists push ourselves to greater heights, is such a beautiful experience! #collaborationcaptured #romneyandquinn supported by Murrindindi Shire Council

07.01.2022 Betty was disappointed I didn’t talk about her on the live I just did in here. She wanted me to ‘call you guys back’ We compromised with a photo of us to share with you all! ... How’s the curls on this girl

07.01.2022 This beauty is now home with her family... What a delight working on such a gorgeous frame with this stunning Timorous Beasties fabric

02.01.2022 Fibre Art cushions - How this design took shape!

02.01.2022 The finishing touches... I literally spent much longer than you’d expect working out if my makers mark needed 3 flax threads each side or 2 Once upon a time I would’ve said that was wasting time, now I know it’s just part of my process. ... Each and every part of my work takes the time it requires. Full stop. I curate fibres to be the energy I infuse into someone’s home. Sometimes these things just can’t be rushed First fibre art cushion is ALMOST ready to be seen! If you want yours in time for Christmas, get in touch - I have 6 spots remaining!

01.01.2022 Ok Boks... for the 40,000th time Any chicken trainers out there who can help me get the message through?
