20.01.2022 don't even make a new years resolution ... you know you'll fail ... why? ... too intense, too much pressure, not enough "instant gratification", too much "spotlight interrogation" ...don't worry. don't be so hard on yourself ... there's light at the end of the tunnel ... could be an oncoming train though... catch it! Let's go!
18.01.2022 There's a bigger picture...
10.01.2022 I'm "part of the problem"... by offering to talk to my clients about their weight, I'm feeding into the "Diet Industry Machine" (pun intended!) and am therefore "fat-phobic!" which means I'm "Scared of Fat/Fatness/Fat Culture"... This is an opinion that I encountered recently so I thought I would briefly deconstruct it here. Firstly, I'm part of many machines. It's the 21st Century & we all contribute to a myriad of corporations and cultures just by our very existence. We all... create and consume one way or another. That's how modern society works. But when some people view or interpret the construction of an oppressive and/or exclusive way of thinking, like The Diet Industry, they not only find it hard to swallow (another pun intended) but demand its deconstruction... or at least equal time... Yes, that's right folks, in researching my rebuttal to the "fat-phobic" accusation, I discovered the "Anti "Diet Industry" Industry"... a social movement that promotes not just "Fat Acceptance" but "Glamourises Obesity" in a somewhat militant and definitely capitalistic fashion. So I get told that I'm fat phobic for discussing digestive science with my clients so they may take some control over their weight and be "body positive" and the "Body Positive" movement says I should butt out (last pun I promise), while it promotes (and sells..) "Intuitive Eating" & "Health at Every Size". Now I'm glossing over a Lot! of stuff here but I really only want to make two points ... "Knowledge is Power" and we "Fear what we Don't Understand". I'm in the "Empowerment Industry"... See more
10.01.2022 And it's no joke! Would you believe that compounds found in chocolate can instigate a release of dopamine in our brains? This can relieve stress and depression in ourselves and create a greater sense of empathy with others! Could it really be that easy? Eat chocolate. Feel better about yourself & be nicer to others... Limited spaces are still available.
03.01.2022 Well, here is this years Xmas card, harvested from the anxious global zeitgeist of 2018. The forgotten spice girl, "Mel T", made a statement mid year with what I would like to believe is an ironic social comment on Mel's part, rather than a "middle finger" to the middle class or any of the other "wardrobe malfunction conspiracies" out there. Who knows? I like Mel. I think she's ok... anyway, Happy New Year.
