11.01.2022 Antonia Albert is helping Justyna McCarney raise funds for urgent brain surgery she requires. Justyna, husband Craig, and their 4 beautiful children need our support. Antonia Albert founder, Daniel Pomering is attempting an Everest Challenge on his bicycle. What’s Everesting? Everesting is one of the most difficult cycling challenges in the world. Pick a hill and repeatedly cycle up it until you climb 8,848 vertical meters, the equivalent height of Mt Everest. Why Antonia A...lbert? Antonia Albert is the brainchild of Daniel Pomering. Daniel was involved in an accident requiring half a dozen surgeries including bilateral titanium hip replacements and spinal surgery. As a family we have experienced all the associated struggles, physically, emotionally & financially through difficult times. Helping Others! It’s estimated to take 22 hours riding more than 330km’s and 8,848 vertical meters high. Why would we do this, Justyna has recently been diagnosed with brain cancer. The tumour is the size of a small apple and many top neurosurgeons have deemed it inoperable. Craig and Justyna have found a world-renowned surgeon who is prepared to operate but their private health cover doesn’t cover the operation, so they need to come up with $90,000 for the operation. 07.01.2022 Everesting Challenge complete... Starting on a warm spring Saturday afternoon, with the expectation that 24 hours of riding repeat climbs of Old Razorback was ahead of him. Founder of Antonia Albert, Daniel began this challenging ride not only for himself but to raise funds for Justyna's Brain Cancer surgery. With the support of his family, and weeks of planning feed bags and water bottles, it was a night of camping out with a difference. In conjunction with two other young r...iders also attempting their own solo Everest climbs and the collective Everest climb by the Camden Cycle Club beginning at midnight, cyclist would be passing each other, lights shining bright through ascents and decents of what the locals call old Raz. With the support of great friends throughout the night, not only keeping Daniel company but also challenging themselves to as many repeats of Old Razorback as they could manage. These men are all champions in their own right. With temperature changes from 3 to 25 degrees the climbs were hot, the descents were cold... 3 kit changes, helmet and shoe rotations to allow for the most comfortable ride possible. As Sunday began with the most beautiful sunrise, more and more cyclist began to show their support for fellow riders, Justyna and her family. Setting up roadside cheering each rider as they came and went repeating the 4.5km climb to the top of the hill. Justyna, husband Craig and family showing their utmost gratitude for the support from the cycling community and many strangers prepared to give what they can to get her life saving surgery. Fly over entertainment from local cyclist come pilot in the skies above giving even more encouragement to the men and women below. The weather changed late afternoon but after 23 hours 35 minutes Daniel had reached the Summit of Everest and beyond to get over 10000 meters elevation and 417km of cycling the Everest challenge complete.
