23.01.2022 What facilities does Council provide for recreation? What is there for young people to do? What is there for families to do together? Given our climate, I believe we need a large indoor venue that can be used for multiple activities eg indoor cricket, futsal , a rock climbing wall and the like. It can be also be a venue for group physical activities for older persons. It would have a kiosk and be open on weekends and on weekdays through to early evening. With the support of Council and local businesses, this could be achieved. It would be of benefit to our whole community. A place where people can come together to have fun and create a healthier lifestyle. Written and authorised by Antonino Ucchino, 22 Turner St South Innisfail. 0410384672
22.01.2022 If I have the privilege of being elected to council, I will be working full time to serve the residents of this shire. All decisions that I make will be made on the basis of Will this be in the best interests of the community as a whole. I have no hidden agendas and I have no conflicting interests. I only own my residence. I will be readily available to listen to any residents who have concerns or ideas they wish to share. I have a positive can do attitude. ... If our council was focussed on the best interests of the community as a whole, then our council could find solutions to existing problems or those problems yet to be encountered. I will not put up with any intimidation or bullying. This goes for elected councillors, council employees, and contractors. Council exists to serve the residents of our shire. 21.01.2022 People ask me what I would do if elected. One of my objectives that’s really important to me, is to Reduce Rates. This can be achieved by firstly cutting back on unnecessary spending on outside consultants. Secondly by slashing unnecessary executive positions. Thirdly, where possible, by using local contractors to get better value for our rates dollar. I believe these are just some of the ways to reduce rates. Council exists to serve the residents. If elected I will be ma...king decisions on the basis of, Will this be in the best interests of the majority of residents? I have no hidden agendas. I have no conflicts of interest. 20.01.2022 I am over this. Our council continues to excuse our high rates because of road maintenance costs due to high rainfall. Another reason for the deterioration of our roads is the heavy machinery and heavy vehicles that use our roads, eg farm machinery during our cane season, banana tractors and trailers and semi trailers and B-doubles that use our roads. This has always been a problem here. You would think that there would be road construction engineers that could design and b...uild our roads to withstand high rainfall and heavy vehicle use. There is a stretch of road between Innisfail and Wangan that was built out of concrete in the 1940s. This section of road has withstood high rainfall, flooding and heavy vehicle use. This is how they build highways here and overseas. Concrete. This costs more initially but the long term savings are enormous. The fact is, our roads are not built to last, as people would know. There have been many road building projects where before they have been completed, the road has already been deteriorating where they started. The main problem is the method of road construction, as it is inappropriate for a high rainfall area and heavy vehicle use. 20.01.2022 Reduce or Freeze Rates? This was one of the first issues I brought forward. Why? Because I listened to what concerned the majority of our community. "Foolish", "Inexperienced", "Dreamer", "Comedian" were some of the comments published in response.... It seems now that most candidates are calling for action on rates. Even the Mayor is saying "Freeze Rates". In his opinion, a rates freeze will be partly funded by reducing non-essential services to ratepayers, but not by trimming the fat from executive management positions. This is a classic example of political spin. In office for four years, his team never reduced rates. When they realise that the public is fed up and they might get ousted, suddenly they change their tune. Do you want someone in office who plays the game, or someone who calls a spade a spade? It's all very well to have visions and dreams, but if we don't stop the rot from the top, all these will be for nothing. 18.01.2022 To all the residents in division 6 that I have door knocked, thank you for your support and letting me have a conversation with you. To all residents that I have not as yet been to, I apologise. Considering the circumstances that have unfolded and the government advice, I do not think that it is appropriate to continue to door knock. If you have any questions to ask me,feel free to call me. 0410384672 Vote 1 Antonino Ucchino Division 6 candidate. Written and authorised by Antonino Ucchino 22 Turner st. 13.01.2022 According to CCRC’s brochure Your Rates Dollars council says... The larger and more sparsely populated the area, the more demand for infrastructure and services with less people to pay for it. The brochure compares CCRC (4,701 sq km, 28,726 people, 6 people per square km) to Cairns (1,687 sq km, 165,525 people, 98 pp sq km), Townsville (3,733 sq km, 186,657 people, 50 pp sq km) and Brisbane (1,343 sq km, 1,209,322 people). You might as well compare apples to onions. This... is called cherry picking. To compare apples to apples here is an other set of figures. Mareeba shire(53,502 sq km, 22,311 people, 0.4 pp sq km). Minimum general rates for residential land value $130,000 to $203,000 is $1,369. Cook shire (105,719 sq km, 4,445 people, 0.04 pp sq km) Charters Towers shire (68,382 sq km, 11,850 people, 0.17 pp sq km). Hinchinbrook shire (2,807 sq km, 10,805 people, 3.8 pp sq km) Tablelands shire (11,293 sq km, 25,541 people, 2.2 pp sq km). Info from ABS 2018. With such low population density, the rates in these shires should be considerably higher than our rates. Written and authorised by Antonino Ucchino 22 Turner St South Innisfail. 0410384672. See more

10.01.2022 We all know what has been and still is going on with this council. Well part of it. There’s more yet to be discovered. As I have stated before, council should be using local contractors whenever possible. Let’s cut out the rhetoric and grandstanding and get on with the job. Get rid of the CEO and the Alliance team. Get rid of the LGAQ. Cut the fat out of executive management. Get council working for the best interests of all residents. 03.01.2022 I am here to be a voice for the people. If elected, I will not disappear into the wood work, I will make myself available to all residents to hear their concerns and ideas, and to be their voice in council, in a respectful and non confrontational manner. So please spread the word. Cheers, Tony. (Itchy) Written and authorised by Antonino Ucchino, 22 Turner St South Innisfail.
