Shorty lives and breathes what it means to be an ANU cricketer, with his relentless effort to improve and win games in the right spirit. He's a player who will bring his best to whichever team he's in, primarily 1st and 2nd Grade, and has been a key reason 2nd Grade have played 6 grand finals in a row. Have a great season Anthony!

17.01.2022 Three wicket-keepers and a Pom, the thing they all have in common is that they’re all ANUCC cricketers!

17.01.2022 It's time for #FactOrFurphy Round 7! One of the great days in the club's recent history features in this one, but did we make all four grades, and did we win them all? You know the drill, fact or furphy?! ANUCC are proudly supported by Furphy, and encourage the responsible consumption of alcohol.

17.01.2022 Fact or Furphy? ANUCC 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade have made their respective 2-day grand finals! And club stalwart Micky Ireland brought up 10,000 club runs. Yep, all facts.

17.01.2022 It's time for #FactOrFurphy Round 6! How do you think this hunk went back in his heyday? This one factual, or Furphual? ANUCC are proudly supported by Furphy, and encourage the responsible consumption of alcohol.

15.01.2022 To break a few of these records would make for some great days of cricket... Or a few Furphys.

15.01.2022 Congratulations to 2s, 3s and 4s who are through to semi-finals in the 2 day competitions. 2nd grade's total of 499 in the final round was a club record and included centuries from Randall Starr and Trent Pollard. Congratulations to 1st grade as well, who despite not making the finals finished their season with an emphatic victory, beating Ginninderra by 6 wickets, led by skipper Dan Leerdam with 139* and Lachie Pedley with 4/27. All results from the final round can be found here:http://mycricket.cricket.com.au//publ/rv/clubresults.aspx

14.01.2022 Some of our newest Owls have been working hard on the turf at Manuka Oval ahead of the Australia v Pakistan T20 match tonight. If its a shocker, Matt rolled it. And if Smudge can whack em like he did in the nets, Yatesy did all the hard work. #CarnTheStudents

12.01.2022 Simply comment where you think the ball is in this cracking forward defensive by Dylan Clements, for your chance to win two tickets to Australia Vs. Pakistan! #CarnTheStudents

12.01.2022 A big weekend for ANUCC with 2s, 3s and 4s through to grand finals next weekend. Chasing 193, 2nd grade won by 6 wickets (losing 2 at the end in an effort to have it all over before lunch - which was achieved!). 3s comfortably defended 240, winning by 100 runs. Western Districts UC decided to send the Owls back in which gave Michael Ireland the opportunity to bat again, and bring up 10,000 club runs - a ridiculous achievement that will be properly celebrated at Presentation Evening on April 12. And 4th grade passed Eastlakes' 121 4 down, finally reaching 8/301 before Eastlake decided there was no point continuing. It is a great achievement to have 3 sides playing on the final weekend. Well done to all.

09.01.2022 It's time for #FactOrFurphy Round 9! We know our incumbent 2nd Grade gloveman can put away a meat pie, but is this one a little far fetched? Is it a Fact or a Furphy? Bonus points if you can remember the two teams playing on the famous day when the meat-pie carnage took place. ANUCC are proudly supported by Furphy, and encourage the responsible consumption of alcohol.

09.01.2022 Out of all the current clubs in the Cricket ACT Premier Cricket Competition, ANU Cricket Club and Queanbeyan District Cricket Club have played each other the mo...st in First Grade, this being 113 times. The sides have only played each other on one final, the 1997/98 Two-Day Final, which ANU won in a thriller by 1 wicket, chasing down 338. The sides have a habit of having players playing for both sides in the Grade competition. The most notable of these was Brad Haddin who played lower grades for Queanbeyan before making his First Grade debut for ANU. Other notable players who have played for both clubs include Peter Solway, Simon Mann, Rob Regent, Nathan Madsen, Shane McNamee, Hugh Renshaw, Gary Samuels, Aaron Ayre and Malcolm Allen. Matches Played 113; ANU Outright 2; Queanbeyan Outright 3; ANU 1st Innings 43; Queanbeyan 1st Innings 48; Drawn/No Result 16; Tied 1. ANU and Queanbeyan have played the most against each other of the current clubs in existence. Graham Morey played 9 matches against Queanbeyan for a 100% success rate. ANU were undefeated against Queanbeyan between 1966 and 1974. Thank you to our statistician, ACT Cricket Stats!

07.01.2022 A great opportunity over at ANU Sport!

06.01.2022 There is no grand final loss that could hurt more than the loss of a truly great clubman. Matthew Lawes, we thank you for your unwavering passion and commitment to the club both on and off the field. You’ve embodied everything the club is and stands for and leave it in a better place than when you arrived. All the best for future endeavours, can’t wait to see you back playing for the mighty ANUCC once again some day. Weymouth can consider themselves lucky to have you back.... Thanks, Lawesy.

06.01.2022 This weekend's matches are cancelled, and the two-day fixture for early January has changed. Please read both Cricket ACT announcements below. **T20 Cancellations**... Cricket ACT will be cancelling all matches this weekend due to the high levels of smoke in the area. The PM2.5 AQI rating is extremely high currently and with the forecast expected to remain the same, if not worse with the heat increasing over the coming 24 hours. Cricket ACT remains committed to delivering the sport to its participants around the region but at all times the health of our community must come first and this is a clear instant that cricket can no go ahead tomorrow as scheduled, unfortunately. Cricket ACT will work through the implications of the draw and communicate to clubs at a later date but will endeavour to reschedule matches in the new year. **January Fixture Changes** The draw for Round 10 has been changed from Saturday the 4th and Saturday the 11th of January, to now being played on Saturday the 11th and Sunday 12th of January. This will impact the second, third and fourth grade Twenty20 grand finals which are currently scheduled for the 12th of January. These grand finals will be allocated amongst the draw adjustments we will be undertaken. Any questions, please get in touch with Dylan Clements or Cameron Fox.

03.01.2022 The ACT/NSW Country Comets are in Sydney this week taking on NSW Metro. Day 1 just finished up with impressive performances by Leerdam and McClintock!

03.01.2022 Former Canberran and cricket superstar, Brad Haddin, will be a guest at our Summer of Cricket Luncheon on February 7. He'll be answering questions and giving us... the inside scoop on his life and impressive career. Born in Cowra, Haddin’s family moved to Queanbeyan when he was 12 and played for Queanbeyan District Cricket Club for three years before joining ANU Cricket Club, representing them in first grade at age 16. He was selected for the Comets in the first Mercantile Mutual Cup season and two years later in 1999-2000 joined the NSW Blues to further his career. Due to the prolific Adam Gilchrist, Haddin spent most of his career as Australia A wicketkeeper, with his international debut coming in 2001 in a one-day against Zimbabwe. Gilchrist’s retirement in 2008 resulted in Haddin's Test debut. He soon made his name as a genuine keeper/batsmen, scoring 169 against New Zealand in an aggressive display that helped cement his place in the team for all formats. He had a short period outside of the squad in 2012 but returned with a bang in 2013, taking the vice-captain mantle and producing a record-breaking performance in Australia’s 2013-14 Ashes whitewash. He bailed Australia out of many difficult situations, eventually scoring 493 runs at 61.62 and broke the record for most runs in a series by an Australian wicketkeeper. His impressive international career came to an end in 2015, retiring after winning the World Cup. He continued to play for the Sydney Sixers, helping win matches up to his final season in 2017. He has kept busy in the years since, joining the Australian team as fielding coach for the recent Ashes tour and will be assistant coach for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2020. 02.01.2022 Training today (Tue 6 Sept) has been cancelled. Hopefully we will be OK for Thu, but it is not looking great.

02.01.2022 Cricket ACT has announced that all cricket has been cancelled tomorrow due to the ACT's declared state of emergency. When we have more information about the impact on selections, training, match rules, smoke etc. they will be sent via email.

01.01.2022 Without the support of our sponsors such as Pacific Facilities Maintenance, we simply couldn’t facilitate both our high performance and social cricket programs. We rely on volunteers and corporate partners to operate as a club and wish to thank them for their ongoing support. We’re asking all club members to take note of our sponsors and give them special consideration in their specific industries.

01.01.2022 Congrats Benny, you’ve had an unreal tournament! Now come home and do it for the students!
