02.01.2022 ITS Security Advisory - CryptoWall Ransomware Over the past month the University has suffered several incidents involving a particularly virulent ransomeware known as CryptoWall. When this virus infects a system it immediately encrypts the user's data as well as the data on any network shared drives that user has access to. Once the data has been encrypted, the virus prompts the user with a message demanding that a ransom be paid. The current target of the malicious emails ap...pears to be service areas within the University that accept general enquiries, placing these areas at the greatest risk. For more information on Cryptowall and what you can do to help protect the data on your personal devices, please visit http://itservices.anu.edu.au/system-status/known-issues/
