25.01.2022 Parents/carers Welcome back to term 2. Schooling is considered compulsory and normal face to face teaching will resume day 1 Term 2. I hope you had an enjoyable... break. We have put in extra measures in response to COVID-19. Can I please ask families to adhere to the following; Classrooms are accessible for students and staff only. Please do not enter classrooms. Our teachers are very responsive and communication can occur via email, see saw or telephone. Can 1 adult only come to drop off or collect your child to reduce the number of adults on school grounds. The front office will not be open during the day. Please contact the front office via email [email protected] or via telephone 89977500 and we will answer your queries etc. Canteen will be open and available for lunch orders. Please give the front office a days notice if you are withdrawing your child from self-isolation and retuning them to school for face to face teaching. Please return any work completed from home and the Keep kids Learning book via your childs bag for their teacher as evidence of home schooling. Children are either learning from home or attending school. It is not a combination of both. You can choose to return at any time with a days notice. Please remind your child to practice safe hygiene practices at school and our teachers will do the same. Wash hands, no sharing food or drink bottles, sneeze into a tissue/elbow, cough into your elbow, avoid touching your face. All water bubblers will be closed. Please provide your child with at least 1 large full water bottle each day, preferably 750mls or more, clearly labelled with their name. Regards, Melinda Kealy Principal
23.01.2022 An important message to Territory kids: Your Easter eggs are safe.
21.01.2022 Small Bricks Build Great Learnings Play is the single most important activity for children to engage in, each and every day. Plenty of research evidence is available in documenting the power of play for childrens emotional well-being, social development and academic achievement. With so many electronic and battery powered gadgets in the market, it can be hard to find toys which children find engaging yet stimulate creativity, promote intellectual and physical development ...more than good old Lego. Lego also helps children with disabilities, autism, and other cognitive delays. It is an excellent tool and is used in autism therapy. They can be used to help strengthen core muscles and dexterity, introduce sensory children to textures and colours, and help build emotional and social skills, like sharing and taking turns. The skills children learn from Lego are important and incredible! Here are 7 benefits of playing with Lego: It teaches children to think in three dimensions. It improves literacy as children work with instructions. It develops problem-solving, mathematical thinking, organisation, and planning by construction. It increases spatial awareness. It improves creativity. It enhances communication and critical thinking. It develops fine motor skills. It encourages teamwork and persistence

16.01.2022 Empathy is a vital building block in a childs ability to regulate their emotions and valuable in adapting and succeeding in an ever-changing world. It's important we create dialogue with children on caring for others and putting ourselves in another's shoes, that will continue through every stage of their development. This Sesame Street special addresses racism and protests which may be useful in conversations with children.

15.01.2022 HAPPY EDUCATORS DAY!! Its Educators Day today! On this day, we recognise and celebrate the work of Australias early learning educators and OSHC educators for their amazing contributions to the well-being and healthy development of the children in their care. Today is a chance we get to thank our wonderful educators on a personal and national level! For many children, the most significant adults in their daily lives are their family members and educators. Theyre the a...dults that they spend the most amount of time with, the people who make most of the decisions on how they will spend their time, and the people who provide guidance and direction through their actions and words. Educator-child relationships are crucial in a childs mental, physical, and emotional development. Your childs educators are a huge part of their lives! Take some time today or this week to say thank you to your childs educators. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrmQW1s7KdE

15.01.2022 We are proud to share our Territory Day Competition videos with our school community. Using the Territorys own Black Rock Bands song Family, students were encouraged to submit a short video sharing what they love most about living in the NT, in particular the place they live. The students have done an amazing job performing and we think you will agree that the end product is outstanding! Follow the links to check it out! 14.01.2022 Whats the difference between doctors, nurses, grocery store workers, truck drivers and police officers, among others? They all are in different occupations. Their rates of pay are all different. But one thing we all know in this pandemic: Theyre all essential. We cant imagine doing without any of these workers right now. We have to be immensely grateful for every one of these people putting themselves on the front lines, every day. They are our heroes. How about the school... teachers, committed to provide online school to our kids? Or the day care workers, watching kids so these people can go to work? Or the pharmacy workers? There are many more. Heres the thing. We are all essential. Even the senior, who is retired, who makes calls to loved ones to see how they are or to encourage them. Churches are lifting people up with their online services and positive messages. People are trying to support their local restaurants by ordering food. Many good things are happening. Social distancing has not kept people from connecting, reaching out, helping, showing compassion. Because thats who we are, and thats what we do. Thats what will see us through, to the other side. Thank you to all, for all you do and all you are.
13.01.2022 Meditation Sessions @ Anula OSHC If you just sit and observe, you will see how restless your mind is. If you try to calm it, it only makes it worse, but over time it does calm, and when it does, there's room to hear more subtle things - that's when your intuition starts to blossom and you start to see things more clearly and be in the present more. Your mind just slows down, and you see a tremendous expanse in the moment. You see so much more than you could see before.
13.01.2022 Anula OSHC is located on Larrakia country. We acknowledge the Larrakia people as the Traditional Owners of the Darwin region and pay our respects to Larrakia elders past and present. We also acknowledge the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of the Northern Territory.... ANULA OSHC is committed to honouring Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples unique cultural and spiritual relationships to the land, waters and seas, and their rich contribution to society.
13.01.2022 "We value space, to create a handsome environment and its potential to inspire social, affective and cognitive learning. The space is an aquarium that mirrors the ideas and values of the people who live in it. The wider the range of possibilities we offer children, the more intense will be their motivations and the richer their experiences." - Loris Malaguzzi (Reggio Emilia founder)
12.01.2022 Children of all ages can benefit from mindfulness, the simple practice of bringing a gentle, accepting attitude to the present moment. It can help parents and caregivers, too, by promoting happiness and relieving stress. Read more about mindfulness for children here: https://www.nytimes.com/guides/well/mindfulness-for-children

09.01.2022 Northern Territory Chief Minister Michael Gunner declared South Australia a hot spot, forcing arrivals from the state into immediate mandatory quarantine. You will have to quarantine if you have been in a declared COVID-19 hotspot in the 14 days before you arrive in the Territory. If you have or your child has travelled to South Australia in the last 14 days, the above advice needs to be followed. Individuals who arrive from South Australia on Monday 16 or Tuesday 17 November... will not be required to pay the $2500 mandatory quarantine cost. We continue to respectfully ask that you DO NOT ENTER the service if there is any known possible risk that your child or any member of your household may have been exposed to COVID-19. Please keep your child at home if they are feeling unwell. We would like to thank you for your continued support and commitment to protecting all children, staff and the broader community over the last few months and appreciate your continued support as we move into our new normal. If you have any concerns, enquiries or feedback please contact the service via email at [email protected] or phone us on (08) 8997 7500. Kind Regards, Juliana Azenha
08.01.2022 As a sector we have definitely had our fair share of difficult days... but sure as the sun will rise, we will get through this and become stronger than ever. Ri...ght now, we pause & choose to be grateful... Were thankful for all our wonderful children & their families bringing so much joy into our worlds. From offers of support, to encouraging words, the kindness has been overwhelming Were thankful for our incredibly resilient Educators, you are our frontline. You smile through your own concerns, you push ahead for the benefit of the children you nurture daily... you are our superheroes Were thankful for those who have advocated for this Sector. Together our leaders have shared frustrations, had robust conversations and ensured our Sector was heard by Governments ...loud & clear. While we know that the sector funding lifeline isnt perfect, we also know that were the only sector being partially funded amid the chaos of COVID19 So for now, while the sector refocuses, we pause to acknowledge these difficult days, we sit beside each other and we continue to support however we can
