25.01.2022 As part of our Let's Talk About Sex, Baby campaign the Women's Department is running a photo campaign and we'd love your submissions. The notions of sex and sexuality are quite fluid and also vary from person to person. For our photo campaign, we wish to capture this unique connection that each member of our collective has to sexual experiences or sexuality journeys. The content of the submission is completely up to you! You can submit a photo of as much or as little of you...rself as you like, a piece of art, a book or any object that's impacted your journey in developing and understanding your relationship to sex and sexuality. To get you started, we've got two prompts to choose from as well as a photo board to help inspire you to get as creative as you like with your submissions! PROMPT ONE: Submit a photo of yourself that conveys your feelings towards your sexuality and what about it makes you feel empowered/sexy/good about yourself. PROMPT TWO: Submit a photo of an object or objects, or a place and how it has impacted your personal journey in developing and understanding your relationship to sex and sexuality. Along with a photo, we'd love for you to write a few lines about how the photo relates to your personal journey with the concepts of sex and sexuality. We understand that this is quite an intimate subject for a lot of people. If you'd like to contribute to the photo campaign anonymously, you can email your submission to [email protected]. To learn more about the campaign and to submit your photo, visit the Submission Form below. https://forms.gle/JpCMVG5sgdFJAePz8 Please note submissions for this photo campaign are only open to members of the ANU Women’s Department. This includes ANU undergraduate students who identify as women, women-aligned non-binary people, people who have experienced gendered oppression as a result of being perceived as a woman, or identify as trans/gender diverse and find our services useful.

25.01.2022 CW: Mention of SASH - support listed below. . . . .... . Today is International Women’s Day! Here we have a look at the history of the day and think about how we can recognise it in a thoughtful way. We also hope that the appreciation shown towards women and non-binary people on this day continues every day of the year, that conversations about gender and sexism don’t stop here and that we all strive to practice activism in an intersectional way. Please take this day to care for yourself and loved ones, and reach out for support. 24.01.2022 CW: SASH . . . .... . . . Hello everyone, There is a lot of really unsettling and traumatising content in the media right now. The misogyny and prevalence of trivialised and excused sexual violence is completely unacceptable. There will be much opportunity for action and protest for those who are interested (will be sharing more info about this tomorrow). Survivors - you are loved, supported and listened to. The below list of resources are all valuable, free and trauma-informed services for survivors. The most important thing you can do is take care of yourself. 22.01.2022 As SSAF rolls around once again ANUSA is under threat - we're facing a year where our funding is likely to be cut like it never has before. Without SSAF the Women's Department wouldn't be able to support Bossy or Women's Revue, to provide free sanitary and contraception to our members, or to run campaigns and events that genuinely upskill and empower our collective members. This is why it is more important that ever that every single student at the ANU stands up to the ANU ...and demands that students get not a dollar less of SSAF - every dollar goes towards making sure that students are supported and empowered, and without it students will be left behind. Read more below to find out what you can do.

22.01.2022 cw: mentions of sexual assault and harassment, institutional betrayal, August 1st . . . .... . . Today marks the 3rd anniversary of the AHRC Report into Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment on Australian University Campuses. While a lot has been done since then to make ANU a safer campus, we must still acknowledge the hurt and the pain that have been caused in the time it took for those measures have been implemented. The system is still not perfect. People are still hurting, and being hurt. We must demand for better. And we will continue to fight this fight until we can all have a safe campus experience. If you have the capacity to, please come to the vigil today at 12:30pm to mark August 1st, and to stand with survivors. https://www.facebook.com/events/219289842634913/ Survivors: we believe you, we stand with you, always and forever. We have worked so hard on this event and hope that you'll get lots out of it, please come along! [red heart and rose emojis] https://www.facebook.com/events/332352601369362

17.01.2022 Have a read of the rallies compiled by ANU Ethnocultural Department this weekend. The Women’s Department unequivocally stands with the struggles of Black and Indigenous People of Colour everywhere. Black Lives Matter. Blak Lives Matter. Always and forever, overseas and here.

14.01.2022 BUSH WEEK MERCH CONFIRMATION REMINDER Hi everyone! We have just been updated with the prices for the merchandise given the interest from our pre-order forms. Unfortunately with the units that we’re ordering, the price of the jumpers are more expensive than we were anticipating.... Given that the Women’s Department is funded by current students, we believe that it would be unfair to use current student’s fees to cover the cost of the jumpers for non-collective members and alumni. We apologise for a change in price for these individuals, but we believe that it is the fairest option. Jumpers for non-collective members and alumni will be $30 but will remain at $20 for current collective members. If you wish to cancel your order, please email us at [email protected] with your details and we will action this. We have sent out confirmation emails to all who filled out a pre-order merch form. Thank you to all who promptly actioned payment and size confirmation!! Just a reminder to check your spam or junk folder in case our email slipped through. We would greatly appreciate if everyone could respond to our email ASAP so that we can place the order. Apologies from our team! We hope that it has not caused too much inconvenience. [three roses]

12.01.2022 Reminder this is on at 11! Come along and have a chat about what this group should do going forward and what we can do.

11.01.2022 PRE-ORDER MERCH FORMS FOR BUSH WEEK [rose] After popular demand, we are bringing BACK the merch that we had for O-Week! This round we will be selling crew neck sweatshirts for $20 and BEANIES for $10. [fire]... In order to make sure no one loses out this round and gauge numbers, we are doing pre-orders so that our interested collective members can guarantee that that will be warm and cosy this winter with our merch! [three falling leaves] Please fill in the pre-order form if you are wanting either of these and we will email you to confirm payment details. Link: https://forms.gle/i2pgExFJnA6uFMds9 Jumpers are exactly the same as in this photo and beanies will have the same design as the bucket hats against black material [two eyes] Let the orders roll in.... [three red hearts] Please note we dont have the capacity to mail merch, so it will need to be collected in Canberra.

09.01.2022 MERCH UPDATE [megaphone emojis] Hi everyone! We’re excited to announce that merch has arrived and we are busy working out the best way to distribute it to those who have preordered in a Covidsafe manner. We will be in touch via email in the coming week with a number of options for you to pick up your merch [rose emoji]... Thanks for your patience [red heart emoji] Queenie and Miriam

09.01.2022 cw: mentions of sexual assault and harassment . . . .... . . CRCC Feedback Form [plant and stars emojis] Hi everyone, ANUSA Women’s Officer here. I just wanted to plug a survey from ANUSA that is seeking feedback on the role of the Canberra Rape Crisis Centre (CRCC) at ANU and whether it is a service that ANU should continue to fund moving forward. For context, the CRCC has been on campus since 2017 and ANUSA has jointly funded it with ANU ever since then. There was expectation that ANU would fully fund the centre at the end of our 3 year contract, however now that expectation is under review. Because of this we wanted to get feedback from the student body on how they view the service, and whether it is a service that the ANU should continue to fund in full. Everyone deserves the right to a safe campus, and we want to ensure that the ANUSA is holding the ANU accountable where appropriate and especially when it comes to resourcing and support services. If you have 5 minutes of time to spare please fill out this survey so we will be have information that will enable us to support students in the best way possible. Thanks everyone! 05.01.2022 cw: mentions of institutional betrayal, sexual assault and sexual harassment . . .... . . . . . A year ago, the Women's Department held an Open Day Protest alongside ANUSA and the Interhall Council (IHC). In the protest we called for better reshall support, better SASH accountability and for a university that will listen to its students, and put them first. A year on and while the University has made some progress, its attitude towards student engagement remains, unfortunately, the same. ANU is currently proposing raises to residential hall tariffs in the middle not just global pandemic but also an economic recession because of an agreement they signed without any student consultation. While they ask for this raise, they simultaneously leave multiple residential halls without Heads of Halls or even appropriate support for the student leaders who are on the front lines of receiving disclosures and supporting its residents. Take part in the protest organised by IHC tomorrow, and change your profile picture in solidarity with the students who are constantly having to fight for better. https://www.facebook.com/events/3272467452833488 ANU, do better. Students should not be paying the price for your mistakes.

05.01.2022 Sweet and Sour is a bi-monthly Zine publication based in Canberra and they are currently accepting submissions for their first zine! They focus on Asian identities, and the unique experiences associated with being Asian in Australia. More from them below [finger pointing down] When more than one culture demands your allegiance, there is a bizarre sense of existing between multiple worlds, yet not fully belonging to either. Many of us belong to multiple cultural identities, ...and face issues relating to belonging, racism and identity. Sweet and Sour is a safe space to explore and share our cultures in a supportive and creative environment. We are seeking submissions from individuals with Asian backgrounds to contribute to the first issue of the Zine, as well as online platforms. There are no restrictions on what this content can be about, but we encourage you to create work based on your personal experiences about being Asian in Australia. What does your cultural identity mean to you?

03.01.2022 The Gender Equality Working Group Survey is now out! [star emojis] We want to hear from you about your perception of gender equality in ANUSA and what it can do better. Every person who fills out this survey stands a chance to win one of three Women's Department hoodies (valued at $30!) More information in the post below!

02.01.2022 Come along to the third Gender Equality Working Group meeting of the year! We will be discussing the survey and reviewing it before we release it to the general public. (I wish I could offer free pizza but for now it will simply still have to be on Zoom, but hopefully see you there!)

01.01.2022 Come join us tomorrow at 10am to make banners and posters for the upcoming Women's March for Justice protest! [red heart]

01.01.2022 WE NEED YOU: RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIPS SUMMIT [roses and lightning bolt emojis] cw: mentions of sexual assault and harassment, august 1st . .... . . . . . Hi everyone, As you may have seen in our post on Monday, to mark the 3rd anniversary of August 1st the University have decided to host a summit on Respectful Relationships at the ANU. This summit is targeted at discussing the Universities progress on the Sexual Violence Prevention Strategy (SVPS), which is to say not much at present, as students are still constantly falling between the cracks. ANUSA - ANU Students' Association and the Women's Department want to use this Summit as a pressure point for the University to listen our feedback on how what they are currently doing is not enough. We want to use this summit as a way to give voice to the students who deserve better, more comprehensive responses to sexual violence on campus. To do so, we need as many people as possible coming to show the University that this is an issue they can no longer turn a blind eye to, and is something that they must prioritise in the coming months and years. You can register for your ticket to the event here: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/anu-respectful-relationship You can also click going to the following contingent events to keep updated on what ANUSA and WD are doing - we will likely be posting questions for people to ask in the meetings to help structure discussions and to put pressure on the university. We must present a united and strong front to the University to show that we deserve better.
