23.01.2022 Staying Healthy on Vacation The thought of our vacation being ruined by illness is disheartening. But for various reasons illness is common when traveling- foreign water may be polluted, we have no immunity to local germs, our immune system is weakened by jet lag, we are getting used to foreign foodetc. Some habits greatly reduce the risk or severity of illnesses.... -Planes have unclean surfaces. Use hand sanitiser before eating. Use disinfectant wipes to clean your armrests and table trays. -Drink plenty of clean water. Bottled water is best. This reduces the risk of digestive issues or headaches. Wear sunscreen, 100% UV proof glasses and a hat. Sunburn is terrible. Walking and exercise help. Cold showers seem to help the immune system. Adapt to the time difference before you leave, to avoid jet lag. Buy and cook at least some of your own food for local markets. Avoid cheap touristy restaurants. Eat plenty of vegetables and fruit. Wash them with clean (bottled?) water. A good breakfast makes the difference. Alcohol will stain your system. If you want to be super health you can avoid it entirely. Have vaccinations before you leave. Always have travel insurance, including health insurance. Do some research on the countries you plan to travel to. Find what to avoid. #charterbus #chartershuttle #eastershow #eastertransport #sydneyshuttle #holidayshuttle #holidaytransport #airtravel #airportshuttle #overseastravel #cruiseship #cruiseshuttle #tourism #airflight #cruiseterminal #sydneycruise #cruiseadvice #cruisepacking #heath #healthtravel #healthyvacation #healthytravel

21.01.2022 Last minute booking There are sometimes great last minute deals. But you will only have what is left over, and that will be a very limited selection. Sometimes you will be lucky; more often you will miss out, or have to make a compromise. Cruise ships aren’t too bad for last minute deals, wanting to fill their cabins before departure. But other options are very hit or miss.... #shuttlebus #airtravel #airplane #aeroplane #airportshuttle #sydneyshuttle #flying #grouptravel #overseastravel #tourism #airflight #planetravel #foreigntravel #safeairline #charterbus #chartershuttle #sydneyshuttle #travel #vacation #cruise #cruiseship #australiantravel #foreigntravel #tourist #holidaytravel #grouptravel #traveltips #traveladvice #bookingflights #frequentflyers #frequenttravellers #discounttravel

19.01.2022 Airline Travel with Children Some airlines allow you to request a child's meal in advance when traveling. Likewise, a very young child may use a bassinet if booked in advance Take snacks, books, games, and entertainment for the child. A new item can be a good idea when travelling. ... Flights at night, when the child will sleep, can work well. check prams/strollers in with the luggage or at the departure gate. Check in advance. A slightly older child will look after luggage that belongs to them if it is decorated in a way they like. But luggage with Cartoon, Disney or superheros, if that is what the child likes. Show children picture of the vacation sights they will be seeing in advance. anticipation is good. Avoid too much junk food and carbonated drinks when traveling. At high altitudes these can have a bad effect on digestion. If the child sleep, try to time the nap to fit in with the tine zone of your destination. It is easier to keep them awake than it is to force them to sleep. A cheap camera and diary to document the trip is a good idea for older children. #shuttlebus #airtravel #airplane #aeroplane #airportshuttle #sydneyshuttle #flying #grouptravel #overseastravel #tourism #airflight #planetravel #foreigntravel #safeairline #charterbus #chartershuttle #sydneyshuttle #travel #vacation #cruise #cruiseship #australiantravel #foreigntravel #tourist #holidaytravel #grouptravel #traveltips #traveladvice #smarttraveller #travelnews #traveladvice #childrenTravel #trvelwithkids

19.01.2022 Christmas Travel This time of year is both Christmas and the summer holidays, so a lot of people are travelling. Book early is possible. There are a lot of people wanting to travel, so you are unlikely to get any last-minute discounts. This tend to get booked out. Avoid peak times if possible. Christmas day and Christmas eve are quieter, but expensive.... Because of crowds the connections get tight. Leave time between flights and other connections. Digital check-in saves time. Lesser known destinations can be less crowded. Early flights are a little less congested. Leave in the early hours, take a shuttle bus, and catch up on sleep on the plane. Some package deals are good during the holidays. It is one situation where the greater numbers offer some discounts. Christmas shopping at the destination means some items you may not find at home. This might mean taking less with you on departure. #shuttlebus #airtravel #airplane #aeroplane #airportshuttle #sydneyshuttle #flying #grouptravel #overseastravel #tourism #airflight #planetravel #foreigntravel #safeairline #charterbus #chartershuttle #sydneyshuttle #travel #vacation #cruise #cruiseship #australiantravel #foreigntravel #tourist #holidaytravel #grouptravel #traveltips #traveladvice #smarttraveller #travelnews #traveladvice #xmas #christmas #xmastravel #christmastravel #christmasseason #holidaytravel #christmasadvice #holidayadvice

19.01.2022 Fare Basis Code Any airline booking will have a small alpha-numeric code. The letters on the tickets denote a different fare type. We can sometimes choose the right fare type to our advantage. The codes used on tickets will vary a littel between airlines. But generally:... F means full-fare First Class J means full-fare Business Class W means full-fare Premium Economy Y means full-fare Economy Class B means flexible Economy Class Also OW One way RT Return Fare W or X weekend or weekday only (friday is someties considered weekend) E followed by a number mean that is the maxumum number od day for a stay Some classes allow you to change the travel time without a penalty. This is convenient for a business traveller who finds that must stay a few extra days. Some classes like Y or B are more likely to get an upgrade. Importantly, some flights earn more frequent flyer points. So if you travel a lot then a few slightly more expensive fares will earn you significantly more points. Some flights grant 1/2 point per mile, others grant 5 points per mile! 1 point per mile is the standard. #shuttlebus #airtravel #airplane #aeroplane #airportshuttle #sydneyshuttle #flying #grouptravel #overseastravel #tourism #airflight #planetravel #foreigntravel #safeairline #charterbus #chartershuttle #sydneyshuttle #travel #vacation #cruise #cruiseship #australiantravel #foreigntravel #tourist #holidaytravel #grouptravel #traveltips #traveladvice #smarttraveller #travelnews #traveladvice #holidaytravel #holidayadvice #airlinecodes

15.01.2022 Passports, Visa and ETA If you travel anywhere inthe worl you need a passport, there is basically no exception. You also generally need a visa for each country you visit. This shuld be arrange before you depart, with some Visas having a long waiting period of a few months.... There is a semi-exception to Visa requirements. Some countries allow a short stay (perhaps 90 days) with an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), which is a cheaper option, and can be obtained on fairly short notice. Always check Visa and ETA requrements. Traveling under a pasport form a different country can greatly affect what is permissable. A British or USA passport will require a different Visa/ETa to an Australian passport. #shuttlebus #airtravel #airplane #aeroplane #airportshuttle #sydneyshuttle #flying #grouptravel #overseastravel #tourism #airflight #planetravel #foreigntravel #safeairline #charterbus #chartershuttle #sydneyshuttle #travel #vacation #cruise #cruiseship #australiantravel #foreigntravel #tourist #holidaytravel #grouptravel #traveltips #traveladvice #smarttraveller #travelnews #traveladvice #holidaytravel #holidayadvice #visa #eta

12.01.2022 Visiting Australia Every culture has a few unique habits, customs and rules. These tend to make sense in that's country's situation. When visiting Australia:... Wear sunscreen, and use a hat and sunglasses. It is very easy to get burnt in this country. Swim between the flags at the beach. This has been determined to be the safest part of that beach on that particular day. And it is where the lifeguards are keeping watch. If you drive in the outback, or even outside the cities, at night you will encounter wildlife trying to cross the road. This is quite dangerous. Best to use commercia transport. Flood warnings, especially in the North of the country, are quite serious. Stay indoors if there is a warning. Don't even think you can walk or cycle between cities or towns. The country is huge. Travel will take several days. Tipping isn't expected but won't be refused either. Rental prices are usually given per week, not per month. Wildlife is dangerous, but usually only seen when outside the cities. It is usually easy to avoid the animals. Public transport uses prepaid cards. The card itself is free. Obtain one for the cities that you visit. #shuttlebus #airtravel #airplane #aeroplane #airportshuttle #sydneyshuttle #flying #grouptravel #overseastravel #tourism #airflight #planetravel #foreigntravel #safeairline #charterbus #chartershuttle #sydneyshuttle #travel #vacation #cruise #cruiseship #australiantravel #foreigntravel #tourist #holidaytravel #grouptravel #traveltips #traveladvice #smarttraveller #travelnews #traveladvice #xmas #christmas #xmastravel #christmastravel #christmasseason #holidaytravel #christmasadvice #holidayadvice

07.01.2022 Getting Through Airport Queue Even if the airport were attractive nobody wants to spend much time lining up. We want to get on with our trip. Or relax with some coffee while we wait. Regular travellers have a few tips for getting through the administrative side of travel Print you boarding pass out in advance, before you leave. Some people just use the display in the smart phone. ... Check in electronically with your smartphone/tablet when you arrive. Wear minimal metal to avoid delays at the metal detector. Have all you keys/coins and other metal in a jacket that you can easily remove and have scanned. There are strict limits on liquids, quantities are usually restricted to 100mls, and all containers must be in a 20cm sealable plastic bag. Bring an empty plastic bottle and fill it with water after you have passed through security. The airline staff have no objection to this. Find details about foreign airports in advance. Some airports are large, and it may be hard to find the gate where you flight departs. An airport shuttle bus removes all parking issues, and makes the drop off at the airport super easy. #shuttlebus #airtravel #airplane #aeroplane #airportshuttle #sydneyshuttle #flying #grouptravel #overseastravel #tourism #airflight #planetravel #foreigntravel #safeairline #charterbus #chartershuttle #sydneyshuttle #travel #vacation #cruise #cruiseship #australiantravel #foreigntravel #tourist #holidaytravel #grouptravel #traveltips #traveladvice #metaldetector #boardingpass #queue

04.01.2022 Pre-Travel Checklist Passport need to be carried with you through customs, flight check-ins etc. Many countries require a passport to be valid for at least 6 months longer than your intended stay. Most countries require a Visa before you visit, or the equivalent non-visa documentation. Some countries allow an ESTA (electronic system travel authorization) for short visits. Apply in advance through that county’s embassy. You must be able to show that you have sufficient ...funds to sustain you throughout your visit. Check to see what immunizations you will need for each country. Make a copy (scan, photo) of every travel document you need, including passport, visas, tickets and hotel bookings. Keep these copies on your phone and email them to yourself. This will be an online backup in case of loss. Confirm hotels bookings and flights a few day ahead. Book in online. Pack light. Flights have weight restrictions, with 23 kg being common. It varies with each airline. If you have heavy luggage have it sent ahead with Luggage Mule or Airport. For large bags this is cheaper than overweight airport fees. Connecting flights can be an issue. Always have at least an hour between flights, and collect and re-book luggage for the first flight to the next flight. This prevents almost all lost luggage. A travel card is the most convenient way to look after your travel finances. Airport lounges are convenient for short stays, before, after or between flights. Some credit cards or frequent flyer points may grant you entry. Or you pay a one-off fee may grant you entry. Book a shuttle bus. It’s reliable, comfortable, looks after the luggage, and removes all the hassle for the beginning and end of the trip. #shuttlebus #airtravel #airportshuttle #sydneyshuttle #flying #grouptravel #overseastravel #tourism #airflight #planetravel #foreigntravel #safeairline #charterbus #chartershuttle #sydneyshuttle #travel #vacation #cruise #cruiseship #australiantravel #foreigntravel #tourist #holidaytravel #grouptravel #traveltips #traveladvice #travelchecklist See more
