They should vary from program to program, depending on what you are trying to achieve in that session and within your program. ... As a general rule, if you are performing a circuit your focus is to improve your work capacity and endurance, meaning that you should have shorter rest periods of around 1-4 mins and use lighter weights or bodyweight through the circuit, so that you can work towards those goals and improve your ability to recover efficiently. If you are performing a strength session and that is your focus, you should have longer rest periods so that you can recover between sets and minimise fatigue and injury in the consecutive sets. 09.01.2022 If you are struggling to perform full push ups on your toes, there is no reason why that cant be achieved over time by building up the strength needed to perform the movement. Here are some tips on how to progress to push ups on your toes and to improve your strength in this movement. If you are just starting out then start on your knees, not your toes. Being on your toes increases the difficulty of the movement and you may not have the strength to push the weight of your ...whole body from the floor. From there and once your technique is correct, you can progress to your toes using a step or ledge (as pictured). This increases the level of difficulty, however, it is less intense than being on the floor, as there is a smaller range of motion in this movement. As your strength improves you can decrease the incline until you are pushing up from the floor. The other thing to focus on is the movement itself, in particular the eccentric portion of the movement (the downward part). Practice slowly lowering your chest to the ground and then rest your body there before sitting back and starting the movement again. 07.01.2022 It's LEG DAY! The squat is known to be the most universal strength training move. If you work on squats through various stances and foot placements it can increase your training efficiency and target various muscles. Give these squats a try:... Basic squat Dont underestimate the word basic mastering this movement is a must!!! As it provides the foundation for all your other squat variations. This squat will target your whole posterior chain, in particular the hamstrings, glutes, calves, as well as your quads and abs. 1. Start with your feet shoulder-width apart, toes slightly out, and your arms down at your side. 2. Start to hinge at the hips and bend your knees, sitting back like youre going to sit down and allowing your arms to raise up in front of you 3. Drive your knees out, ensuring that they dont fall inward and keep your back and chest upright. 4. When your thighs are parallel to the ground, stop and push up through your heels to return to start. When you begin the movement think about spreading the floor with your feet, pushing the knees outwards and opening the hips. These cues should help to activate your glutes, but also assist the pelvis to sit as deep as possible whilst still remaining neutral. Close stance squat By bringing your feet close together this squat targets your quadriceps 1. Start standing with your feet in a close stance, toes pointed straight ahead. 2. Hinge at your hips and sit back into a squat, ensuring that your knees dont cave in. Stand up when your thighs are parallel to the ground. Sumo Squat This squat targets your inner thighs & glutes 1. Start by standing with your feet out wide and your toes pointing out. 2. Keeping weight in your back heels, start to lower your hips and bend your knees into a wide squat. Go down until your thighs are parallel to the floor. Keep your chest up throughout the movement. 3.
