21.01.2022 Shoulder pain is a typical complaint of clients coming to Longevity for Exercise Physiology. Outlined below is common progressions we use during rehabilitation of subacromial impingement, rotator cuff tears, tendinopathy or repeated dislocation. 1. Internal rotation strengthening rotator cuff muscles to promote shoulder stability 2. External rotation strengthening remaining rotator cuff muscles and introduction of pec and lat muscles 3. Lateral raises this will inco...rporate all 4 rotator cuff muscles in a more complex movement 4. Rowing introducing heavier loads and incorporating lower traps and rhomboids, important muscles required for optimal shoulder health 5. Pressing after the base has been built in steps 1-4, it is likely that pressing will be better tolerated 6. Overhead pulling increasing the range of motion to include overhead movement in the safest way possible 7. Overhead pressing challenging the shoulder the most, pain free overhead pressing is often the end goal of a treatment plan. Trying to break into a semi professional soccer team at the age of 17 in the UK, I knew I had to hit the gym to improve my strength and fitness so I could hold my own. On that first day in the gym my passion for health and fitness quickly overtook my love for soccer. Since then I have transformed my physique to what it is today gaining a qualification in personal training, circui...t training, kettlebell training and competing in a mens physique competition along the way. 12.01.2022 STAFF SPOTLIGHT - Tanya Justice During my time at school my sporting interests lay mainly on the athletics field - competing in sprints, long jump and relay and representing both the school and county. As I got older my running distance grew into competing in marathons - my first attempt being the Paris marathon (whilst recovering from a chest infection and cracked rib!), triathlons (first one being a team race in Forster, where, as someone from the UK where we apparently don...t have beaches and sea, I was asked to compete in the cycling leg!) and also some endurance races. Whilst regularly taking part in a friends circuits class (here in Australia) I realised my passion for fitness and coaching others and shortly after returning to the UK booked on to a Personal Training course where I gained my qualification in Personal Training, Nutritional advice, kettlebells, indoor cycling, ViPR, boxing and running technique. Since becoming a Personal Trainer my training has incorporated more strength and weight training, but also love kickboxing and self-defence training. I have worked both as a self-employed Personal Trainer, Assistant Club Manager and now Club Manager in a number of gyms, both over in the UK and here in Australia. I feel lucky to be able to work in an industry I have a love and passion for and hope to create a welcoming club for members to come and train in and reach their fitness goals. Consistency is key!
