13.01.2022 RECIPE Ingredients 3 tbsp coconut oil 1 tsp vanilla 2 tsp honey... cup almond flour cup pulverised oats (or oat flour) 1 scoop vanilla protein powder 1 heaping tbsp nut butter of choice 2 tbsp cacao nibs, mini chocolate chips or carob chips Method 1. Mix coconut oil, vanilla, and honey in a medium bowl. 2. Add almond meal, pulverised oats and protein powder. 3. Stir in nut butter. Continue mixing until thoroughly combined. 4. Add chip of choice to dough mixture. 5. Using a heaping teaspoon, form dough into balls. 6. Freeze dough bites (minimum 2 hours). #AFrecipe #fitness #foodie #anytimefitness #cookiedoughbites

Consider a light walk on one of the treadmills or bikes to get your body moving and speed up the recovery process 2. Light stretching. This will help activate your sore muscles and increase your range of motion. Pick a variety of stretches and hold each for between 15-30 seconds... 3. Hydration. Aim to drink on average at least 3 liters of water per day and ensure to constantly maintain your fluids while exercising. While sore muscles are very a part of the muscle building process, following these simple steps can reduce the pain associated with DOMS and improve recovery! 12.01.2022 MEAL PREP SERIES Anytime Fitness Michaels' Favourite Summer Salad METHOD: 1. Prepare the couscous mix according to package instructions ... 2. While the couscous is cooking, prep the veggies: coarsely chop the cucumber, the peppers, the red onion, and cherry tomatoes. Finely chop the parsley. 3. Drain and rinse the chickpeas. If desired, roast them in the oven (see the last paragraph in this post). 4. Divide the dressing evenly into 6 small containers. Divide the couscous evenly among 6 meal prep containers 5. add in equal parts of all of the chopped veggies and chickpeas. Add a lemon wedge, some feta cheese, and cover everything with some salt and pepper. 6. to eat, add dressing and enjoy! :) #mealprep #summer #recipe #anytimefitness

08.01.2022 TASTY THURSDAY FREEZER FRIENDLY VEGGIE PASTA BAKE Ingredients:... 450 grams whole wheat short pasta (like farafelle or penne) 1 tablespoon olive oil 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 onion, diced 1 zucchini, cut into bite-sized pieces 1 green capsicum, diced 200 grams button mushrooms, sliced 2 cups fresh spinach 1 jar of your favourite pasta sauce 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Method: 1. Preheat oven to 175. Spray a baking dish with cooking spray and set aside. 2. Cook the pasta according to package directions, omitting salt and fat. Cook until just al dente. Drain and set aside. 3. Meanwhile, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. 4. Add in the garlic and onion, and cook until just tender and fragrant, about two minutes. Add in the zucchini, green pepper, and mushrooms, and cook until all veggies are soft and have released most of their water, about 10 minutes. 5. Add in the spinach and pasta sauce, and cook until the spinach is wilted and the sauce is heated through, about five minutes. 6. Remove the sauce from heat, add in the cooked pasta, and toss to coat. Pour into prepared baking dish. Top with cheese. 7. Bake in preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is browned and bubbly. Notes: To freeze: Fill an aluminum foil baking dish with the mixed pasta and sauce and then top with cheese. Seal with aluminum foil, and then freeze. To cook from frozen: Preheat oven to 175. Baked covered frozen pasta in preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, until heated through. Feel free to double or triple this and eat some for dinner and place some in the freezer. Make sure to cook the pasta al dente. If you cook the pasta until completely soft, it will become soggy in the oven or freezer.
