24.01.2022 Call for chapter proposals for an edited book entitled Events and Wellbeing. It is based on an accepted book proposal by Dr Allan Jepson (The University of Hertfordshire, UK) and Dr Trudie Walters (University of Otago, NZ) as part of the Routledge Critical Event Studies Research Series. The new edited text plans to explore the positives and negatives associated with event attendance or barriers to attendance through empirical case studies. These case studies will be select...ed for their originality and potential to expand research in the area. As the chapters will be empirically driven there will be contributions to knowledge and the opportunity for students and researchers to stretch and test these contributions in order that we better understand wellbeing in the context of contemporary events. California State University, Fresno Publisher Sagamore-Venture Publishing Overview The proposed book, Interprofessional Collaboration in Parks, Recreation and Human Services: Theory and Cases, provides an in-depth analysis of the opportunities and results of inter-professional collaboration in parks, recreation and human services. Central to this textbook of case studies is promoting greater quality of life and well-being as well as improving the livability of communities. The editors are seeking case studies within the following six themes: 1) Health, Wellness, Social Determinants of Health; 2) Ageing; 3) Homelessness; 4) Community Development, Community Building; 5) Youth, Family; 6) Land Use, Urban Design. 15.01.2022 Join the Association of Outdoor Recreation and Education (AORE) Annual Conference October 28-30, in the warmth of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, as we gather around the campfire to make connections among colleagues, partners, industries and the outdoors. Proposals describing new empirical and conceptual research in the area of outdoor recreation education are now being solicited for the 2020 Association of Outdoor Recreation and Education (AORE) Research Symposium. The sympos...ium will include traditional oral presentations (15 minutes to present/ 5 minutes of questions) and poster presentations. The oral presentations will be grouped according to themes emerging from the highest-ranked papers whose presenters requested oral presentations. Poster presentations selected will be displayed in a visible location for all conference attendees to view, and time will be scheduled for authors to present and discuss their research. Texas A&M has launched an Accountability, Climate, Equity and Scholarship (ACES) Fellows Program. The Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences is one of only a few departments in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences authorized to participate. The ACES Fellows Program promotes the research, teaching, and scholarship of early career scho...lars who will expand the racial, ethnic, cultural, and/or gender diversity of their faculty and who embrace the belief that diversity is an indispensable component of academic excellence. Fellows will receive $60,000 in salary, $5,000 for relocation to College Station and $3,000 in start up funds for the initial two years of their appointment as a Visiting Assistant Professor. If all is well after two years, the Fellow is able to transition directly into a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with a salary commensurate with other Assistant Professors in the department. Fellows would teach one course per year and have a minimal service expectation in order to promote their research program. 08.01.2022 Consider sharing your camp-related research at the 2021 Camp Research Forum, held in conjunction with the American Camp Association National Conference, February 2-5, 2021, in New Orleans, LA, and sharing this information with other camp researchers and evaluators, including faculty and students. They recognise that global pandemics or other concerns could lead to adaptations in conference plans. The focus of this Forum is to communicate the applications of completed research to camp professionals. A double-blind peer-review process will examine the appropriate research designs and rigour, but the presentations need to be practitioner-friendly and emphasise the application of the findings to building a body of camp knowledge. Session conveners: Dr. Michael O Regan (Bournemouth University) We are currently seeking contributions from any branches of geography for a paper presentation session involving five presentations each lasting around 15 minutes with time for questions. We also invite scholars to frame stories within the world-building genre to explore ideas, concerns, and controversies to illustrate what it might mean to be a tourist in the future under different scenarios and provide different perspective on how to prepare for the future.
