21.01.2022 Truck Series Recap: Atlanta Speedway hosted tonight's ANZCAR Truck Series round for a 107 lap race in week 7. Jason Martin sat his #21 Chevy Silverado on Pole Position with Jackson Callow in second place. Riley Curtis coming off a win last week was running strong in the lead after 24 laps followed closely by Jason Williams and Steven Williams. Jason Williams was able to get around Curtis for the lead on lap 38 but then lost it again to Curtis when lap traffic got in the way on the front stretch on lap 43. Jason Williams pitted on lap 57 and Riley on lap 58 which gave track position to Williams while Steven Williams decided to stay out until lap 62 before making his way down pit lane from the lead. After pit cycles had finished on lap 64, Riley Curtis was back up into first place and pulling away from J. Williams by lap 75 and had driven out to a 2 second lead by lap 90. 17.01.2022 Reminder that there is no cup race this week. When the series was set up this week was set as a week off so people could be off camping at some big race or something. But that was all pre covid and now that race is next week instead but without the camping. So 31 races into the season, take a breather and get ready for the last 4 races of the season.

15.01.2022 To Finish First, first you must finish!!! Both combos proved to be a bit trickier that expected to drive Race 1:... Race would see a lot of cautions early until the drivers would settle down for a reasonable run to almost finish the race, but a green white checker would be needed to complete the race. Edward Foster coming home first in this one. Cautions: Incidents have been noted for the following: Lap 3 single car spin Lap 10 Hamish Gallagher Lap 14 restart Edward Foster unprofessional conduct - 1 night of racing ban only Lap 15 racing incident Lap 22 single car spin Lap 49 Steven Williams Incident Top 5: 1: Edward Foster 2: Jason Hartigan 3: Hamish Gallagher 4: Joshua Carroll-Warden 5: John Sorensen Broadcast of the race: https://youtu.be/_Vsjc3Fn3MA?t=4158 FGM Ecast https://www.facebook.com/fgmecast Race 2: Well this would be an interesting race with caution laps not counting allowing drivers involved wrecks enough time to get repairs and tows done without losing laps. But really this race was carnage. Some good racing and some not so good racing. With a lot of cars getting DQ’ed for reaching the 17-incident limit and a lot of engines being blown up from contact. By Lap 65 there was only 7 cars left on track and only 4 of those on the lead lap. By lap 75 it was down to just 2 cars on the lead lap and 5 cars on track. Hunter would recover from being stuck on his roof on lap 2 and use the advantage of fresh tires to drive away with the win reinforcing the saying to finish first, first you must finish !! The holy name of NASCAR was uttered during one of the driver interviews (it was Ed ) and one of NASCAR's bots overheard and struck down the blasphemy, stating we had pilfered content from the North Carolina Xfinity race. Long story short we are pretty sure we will get the block overturned, but to save us the trouble in future can we pl...ease refrain from using the name of our Lord and Saviour NASCAR when being interviewed. Cheers all.

Lap 44 saw the 4th caution of the night when Bevan Moyes hit the outside wall and collected Scurlock sending Moyes airborne down the back stretch. As the field pitted, Brendon Bartlett took the lead but wound up in a wreck at the halfway mark entering Turn 3 triggering the nights 5th caution flag. The race resumed on lap 55 with Michelmore leading the field once more, the field had thinned out to about 15 trucks at this point. Mark Smith fell in line for 2nd and Tristan Koch up to 3rd after starting in 20th position. Lap 65 saw Steven Williams make a move into 2nd place while Michelmore raced away to a 4 second lead. 08.01.2022 Although not specifically ANZCAR (or even stockcar) related, it would be remiss of us to fail to acknowledge the passing of the legendary Murray Walker. The tank commander, advertising executive and then commentator turned his linguistic skills to everything from F1 to rallycross, bikes, touring cars, supercars and even snooker! Have managed to find this video of his legendary commentary dubbed over some NASCAR moments. Enjoy.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5mei7Xd6d8

08.01.2022 This week's Wednesday Night Speedway is looking like a cracker!
07.01.2022 And another new race winner appears. Round 5 of the Virtual Motorsport Mentor ARCA series would see Aiden Schultz come away with a win. Aiden would Qualify 1st and lead the field off but it would be Lachlan Urquijo that would take the early lead and run away for the opening stint to the 1st caution of the night on lap 30.... Fresh tires were the order of the day with all cars pitting at the caution. A quick 2nd caution would see everyone stay out this time. Lachlan would keep control of the race from here till the lap 74 caution with Aiden on his heels. After a pit stop for fresh tires Aiden would win the race off pit road to grab the lead only to be given a pit penalty dropping him down the order for the restart. From this Lachlan would take off and looked to have the race won only for there to be another caution for a single car spin on lap 88. At this caution Lachlan would stay out on track while Aiden in 3rd place was the first of lead lap cars to pit in what would be a race winning call as from the restart the fresher tires even just 12 laps or so younger would be the advantage to win the race. Good racing battles throughout the field tonight which was fun to be a part of. Race Results: 1: Aiden Schultz 2: Karl Hoffmans 3: Lachlan Urquijo 4: Bradley Kemp 5: Cam James Incidents have been noted for: nada Other mentions: Lap 30 Caution for single car spin Lap 38 Caution for single car spin Lap 74 Caution single car spin Very nice job holding brake till safe to move. Lap 88 Caution Single car spin Next week the Arca series heads to the Nashville Fair Grounds for 112 laps. 04.01.2022 Truck Series Recap: Watkins Glen played host to the 9th round of the Activity Hub Bali Truck Series tonight which saw Riley Curtis top qualifying with a lap time of 1:12.893s, Justin Howe would line up in 2nd place. A standing start opened up the racing and Howe spent no time going for the lead in turn 1 getting the job done with Aaron Dillon following through to take 2nd, Riley fell back into 4th place as the field raced through the first lap. The top 5 started to get close... by lap 5 and Curtis and Duane Preece got together on the exit of turn 1 ending both drivers nights and Kayd Donnelly and Aaron Dillon came together through the bus stop sending Dillon out into the sand. Stephen Clarke and Jason Hartigan had moved their way into the top 6 by lap 10 after starting towards the rear, Donnelly and Nathan Rohrlach held spots 3 and 4 and Hamish Gallagher had moved into 2nd place and started to chase down Howe in the lead and was able to make a move for the lead on lap 12 before collecting the grass a lap later on the back stretch and handing the position back over to Howe. At the halfway mark Howe continued to lead and was pulling away from Gallagher but Hartigan and Jackson Callow who'd also made his way from the rear had closed within 4 seconds from the race lead. Pit stops started happening for the leaders on lap 20, Hartigan stayed out and led a lap before pitting on lap 21 handing the lead over to Howe who lost a little time to Gallagher who was in hot pursuit. The race for lead really heat up on lap 26 as Callow and Hartigan both caught the two leaders, Hartigan was able to move into 3rd place on lap 27 and started applying pressure to the back of Gallagher's truck and was able to move into 2nd on lap 28 and then into 1st position only seconds later as the top 4 raced up the hill. Callow was able to make his way into 2nd place on lap 29 and set his sites on the leader dropping Howe back into 3rd place with 10 laps to go but it all went wrong for Callow, Howe and Gallagher as the 3 drivers ended up in an incident through the bus stop which resulted in Hartigan gaining a 15 second advantage over Gallagher who managed to correct himself in 2nd. The wreck had also pulled Josh Michelmore, Nathan Rohrlach and Christopher Finlay up into the top 5. With clear track in front and behind, Hartigan was easily able to race away with the win 1. Jason Hartigan 2. Hamish Gallagher 3. Josh Michelmore 4. Nathan Rohrlach 5. Christopher Finlay As the race started from a standing start, no penalties awarded. Next week the trucks hit North Wilkesboro for a 130 lap race!
04.01.2022 Round 14 and the final round of the ANZCAR Grand National Series saw the series head to Watkins Glen. Jason Hartigan would grab pole and sail off into the distance leading from start to finish with Foster following him home. Back in the pack would see more action with a big first lap crash causing a lot of damage and letting the front 2 skip away by 20 to 30 seconds straight away. ... Norman Clark would roll his car completely and go on to drive his way up to 4th. Matthew Raymond would perform one of his trademark drives from the back up to a top 3 finish. Top 5: 1st Jason Hartigan 2nd Edward Foster 3rd Matthew Raymond 4th Norman Clark 5th Joshua Carroll-Walden Stewards Report: Lap 1 Quite a big incident at the start here but started off by a car wheel locking and spinning in the racing line with no help from anyone else. Drivers have taken avoiding action which has resulted in cars having contact with other cars which was unavoidable. Part 2 - of this incident was set off by an unsafe re-join to the track and an incident has been noted for Scott Rankin. Want to say a big thank you to all the drivers that showed up to race during the season whether that was for 1 race or more. These cars are tough to drive and the season was a long one. Next week we are shifting focus with this series and concentrating on short track racing for a while. We have already announced the first week stand alone race night which will be broadcasted by FGM ECast so check out our page for more details. So, head on over to their page and give them a like and a follow. https://www.facebook.com/fgmecast

01.01.2022 ANZCAR are delighted to announce that FGM Ecast will be broadcasting the Activity Hub Bali Truck Series starting next week and into 2021! 01.01.2022 Throwback Thursday! Who remembers the original ANZCAR Newsletter? I had a lot of fun doing these up but eventually they would become too time consuming to continue and I'd lose a good day's work working on them rather than doing my work. Being fairly new to iRacing and having no idea about how leagues worked I took a look around at what others were doing and decided to do something different and give our ANZCAR league members something to read which I attribute in helping us get a small band of drivers together to make the league what it is today!
