25.01.2022 The ANZGOSA board would like to wish all our members a safe and happy easter during these difficult times of COVID-19 restrictions.

21.01.2022 Firstly, and most importantly, we hope that this finds you and all your families safe and well. The COVID-19 pandemic has had an unprecedented effect on all us, and on our Communities. The effect is not limited to the health consequences, but includes major social and economic impact that will affect us all for many years to come. It is important that we stand together at times like these. In that spirit, the ANZGOSA board meet last night to discuss some key issues tha...t we believe our subspecialty will need to address in the weeks and months ahead. In addition, we have developed some resources that we hope will be helpful. Guidelines for Oesophago-Gastric and Bariatric surgery during COVID-19 pandemic RACS have posted guidelines from a number of professional societies for triaging and specific management of cases during COVID-19. There are important guidelines within this RACS hub, and I encourage you to review the general principles of care during COVID-19, guidelines for elective surgery and GESA guidelines for Endoscopy. Recognising the special needs of our patient group, we have now emailed two guidelines for Upper GI and Bariatric Surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic. ANZGOSA/ANZMOSS guidelines for the triage of Emergency and Urgent patients ANZGOSA guidelines for the management of Oesophago-Gastric Cancer These guidelines have been developed by both the Boards of ANZGOSA and ANZMOSS and have had input from our Past-Presidents. They are not intended to be exhaustive, and it is recommended that you still consider every case on their merits, considering your available local resources (that maybe changing on a daily basis) and directing care to those most likely to have long term survivorship. They will be reviewed weekly by the Board and updated as the pandemic progresses (or hopefully regresses!). We welcome any feedback. We hope that you find them useful. Again, we send you all our best wishes during this difficult time. As I said in the beginning this is a time that we need our community more than ever, so if there is anything that you feel that ANZGOSA could be or should be providing, or if you would like to provide feedback on any of the above, please feel free to contact me or any members of the Board at any time. We are planning regular updates to our members, and so please keep an eye out for our emails.
