21.01.2022 Great to see some racing starting up again in Victoria Good on Geelong for getting out there! Hopefully it won't be long before the metro lockdown clubs will be fit enough to start racing too

21.01.2022 Lockdown tip for SPLSs (Single Paddlers Living Solo): Choose your Bubble Buddy wisely and find a friend with access to the water so you can go for a paddle (super important for paddlers who have been stranded on land by living more than 5km from the beach!) Starts Monday 14th September!!! Also important for SLPSs living at the beach already so they can connect again with their water safety buddy ...there may not be any club paddling for a while, but you can go out on your own craft... if you don't have one yet is there any better reason to buy a canoe?? (put the expense down to the cost of living in lockdown!?!) STAY STRONG SSZ, our very split zone will be together again before we know it!!! https://www.facebook.com//a.17548758921/3293773074049713/

21.01.2022 Can't keep us from the water forever, especially when there's dolphins!!! Shout out to all those in the Southern States still able to get on the water: keep posting those pics!!! And yes we want more from SA and Tassie!!! [Covid UPDATE in Vic: Stage 3= in pairs outside of households; Stage 4= in pairs ONLY if within 5km and ONLY 1hour round-trip incl travel time (luckily the do-not-drive to exercise rule has been lifted opening up some paddling again to a lucky few! Wooh!)]

20.01.2022 Water views from land only until restrictions ease! No recreational sports including boating and surfing while in current stage 4 restrictions for Melbourne metro areas. Regional VIC paddlers in stage 3 can go out in groups of 2. STAY SAFESTAY STRONG

20.01.2022 STAY SAFE STAY STRONG Updated COVID-19 guidelines for SSZ paddlers. Keep it sensible and safe out on the water!

18.01.2022 Wooh! Some Victorian clubs are opening up again to join the rest of Australia in being able to paddle together with physical distancing in place albeit the Zone remains completely split (No travel between SA, TAS, VIC, nor between regional and metro melbourne within VIC) Some of our most active clubs still remain in strict lockdown, unable to use club houses and unable to travel beyond 5km from their homes. Big shout out to Kai'Opua Outrigger Canoe Club Australia Melbourne Outrigger Canoe Club Patterson Lakes Outrigger Club Western Beaches Outrigger Canoe Club STAY STRONG SSZ

17.01.2022 We are strong in the south and we will wait this out like we waited through winters past. BASS STRAIT CHALLENGE IS CANCELLED THIS SEASON. We paddle together in spirit for now. STAY STRONGSTAY SAFE

17.01.2022 Another stunning view from a southern States Zone club member Exercise, on and off the water, is still an essential reason to be outside! Please share your pics of your local waterways, running paths, dog walks etc to remember #whywepaddle

16.01.2022 Fingers crossed the world gets back on schedule soon! Stay healthy Southern Paddlers https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=3384549004893887&id=341542709194547

13.01.2022 Hold on to your paddles and sanity while keeping your physical distance!!! Clubs are hopefully completing their COVID-safe plan for SSZ to assess to be ready to hit the water when it's safe to start competing again. NB: Victorians in lockdown zones are still able to paddle their own canoes but only single craft in groups of 2 (and yes we all know who the nutters are still out on the water in these chilly winter conditions!!!)

13.01.2022 A guide for paddlers and Social Distancing: If you can reach someone with your paddle you're a bit too close. Help protect the vulnerable within the community and slow the spread of Covid-19 but definitely get out and keep paddling on your single crafts with your paddling family

07.01.2022 Victorian sporting clubs that have been financially impacted due to COVID-19 restrictions may be eligible for grants through the community sports survival package: https://sport.vic.gov.au//community-sport-sector-coronavir

03.01.2022 Have clubs considered combining the "change and shower at home" concept with "wash equipment with soap" for their COVID plans...no???...well I'm just gunna leave this here.... think on it...

02.01.2022 Pssst! Metro Melbourne clubs.... Did ya hear the news !?! Dust off those COVID Plans!!!! WE'RE GOING PADDLING!!!!! Fill those waterways with single craft and V3s until your souls are full! Stay Safe

02.01.2022 Get a taste for Tassie paddling and get the whole family involved! Love your work Hobart Outrigger Canoe Club

02.01.2022 VICTORIAN PADDLERS ARE ALLOWED TO PADDLE again!!! Stay safe, stay strong, stay 1.5m away from everyone, only in groups of 2, use your own gear, single craft only, avoid club houses, launch from an open beach, jetties and piers are probs still closed, and paddle in your local areas It's been a fun rollercoaster for Victorian paddlers and all the new covid-19 guidelines, but sense has prevailed and canoeing has been moved out of the boating ban and officially back into the exercise category.
