15.01.2022 Here's a great way to wake up. This says under 4 hours flight from Australia. Yes under 4 hours from Melbourne, just over 3 hours from Sydney and under 3 hours from Brisbane. 12.01.2022 Hi everyone. A quick report on Aoredise after the cyclone. The Cat 5 beast really hammered us, with Aore, Malo, Santo and Pentecost among the hardest hit. Aoredise copped some damage but it could have been worse. On Aore Island all of the locals and some of the expats lost roofs, walls and whole houses. We still have roof and walls on the house and shed. Some door, ceiling and flashing damage but it can be fixed. We don’t have a full report as yet as we are stuck in Australi...a and can’t get there. The garden is stripped, the sea wall has gone along with some of the land in front of the house. And our new Nakamal is falling on to the beach (or what was a beach, all the sand is gone again). But it is all good, we built it once so we can build it again. Give us a bit of time and a lot of effort and it will once again be Paradise on Aore Island. Some friends and previous guests have asked where they can make a small donation to help the Ni-Van locals on Aore Island re-build their villages. Here are a couple of options; For the Santo region in general I suggest Big Heart Island Vanuatu on Facebook run by Mayumi Green in Luganville who started it to help with the Volcano eruption on nearby Ambae Island in 2018. Or to help the locals on Aore Island itself I can arrange for donations to go to Susan Harper, an expat living on Aore who can make sure all funds donated are put to the best use helping those most in need to re-build their villages. 07.01.2022 Inside Aoredise ... We love our little house on the water. It isn't big, luxurious, six-star, air-conditioned. But it is all the "C's" - Cute, Comfortable, Cool, Convenient, and if we may say so a little bit Classy and Creative.

06.01.2022 Overall Aoredise was very lucky! We are stuck in Aus so can't see the full extent of the damage, but from what we have seen and heard, a lot of houses are in a much worse state. We still have a roof and walls, some have nothing but slab or stumps! The rock wall is gone, the soil eroded back towards the house, the Nakamal is falling down on to the beach, the shed door is damaged, the garden is stripped, and as yet we don't know the state of things inside the house. But I'm sure we can fix it and bring it back to the place we and our previous guests have loved. With some luck, hard work and patience it will once again be "Aoredise - Paradise on Aore Island"

05.01.2022 We love our Kayak at Aoredise ... It's called a 2 plus 1, means it can take 2 adults and one child. Yet it's still easy to paddle on your own if you want. No charge for our guests to use, along with our SUPs and bikes. Book, stay and have fun at Aoredise!
