21.01.2022 Josh Philippe back at work and preparing for the IPL and season ahead _ Very excited to have Josh training us again this off season! We have already begun training and the man is flying! We have made some great inroads into his strength and power development as well as his movement efficiency already! Josh has also made great strides in specific areas of improvement since working with us last year and now it is about helping Josh achieve his specific fitness goals as well as to become as fit and prepared as possible for his return to training at the WACA again and flying out to the @iplt20 with the @royalchallengersbangalore!

16.01.2022 WA State Womens win their first title _ A huge congratulations to the WA State Womens team and our very own co-director of AP3X Performance and WA & Perth Scorchers S&C Rob Chipchase one their maiden WNCL title! It is the first year Rob has worked for the WA State Female team the head physical performance coach and has put a lot of time and effort into preparing the ladies week in week out to perform at their best! Cudos to the ladies throughout the season on taking on the challenges set by Rob and the coaching staff as well!! Glad to see the ladies get rewarded for a lot of hard work and dedication!

16.01.2022 Developing multi directional strength _ Here are two of our junior athletes Cruz and Ethan completing lateral lunges. We use this exercise to improve an athletes cutting ability or change of directional strength, meaning they are far more effective and quicker at changing direction. Research suggests that adding this into your programming will in fact improve an athletes ability to cut or change direction!

15.01.2022 In season strength work - @cricket_ireland international player @racheldelaneyxo abroad _ Always a pleasure working with Racheal! She is working through her in season strength work, making sure she is performing well and staying on the park! Here, Rachel is doing her RDLs with a tempo of 1:0:3 as a derivative aiming to improve fasicle length of the hamstrings with improving through range strength. Research suggests that detraining occurs after 2 weeks and therefore consi...stent strength training is key to both improving performance and injury prevention. _ In season programming for us at @ap3x_performance means that we make sure our athletes are strong in key movements and lifts in order to maximise performance while having focuss on key athletic fundamentals such as running mechanics, jumping and landing mechanics to maximise athletic efficiency! 12.01.2022 Off season - to train or not to train _ A great post and research from @ylmsportscience and Garcia-Pallares J. et al showing the difference in reduced training vs not training at all in terms of performance, showing that a reduced load in training post season approximately halves the loss in performance compared to a complete break _ The point? Theoretically, instead of training to get back to the same level of performance, you now will train for true improvements in you...r performance! What does this mean? If you have two groups of athletes (Group A and Group B - A is the non training group, group B the training group), group B has a far greater chance at truely improving their athletic performance than the group of athletes who do not train! 11.01.2022 Injuries are a part of sport _ If you play sport, the reality at some point in your career, you will have an injury. It would be foolish to think that you will go through your career and not be injured. How ever, to have the right coach, qualified and experienced, is the difference between getting back to the same performance on your return to sport and not. Having structured, researched practices is key to your return to sport to perform at a high level! _ A rehab pr...ogram is not doing circuit training until you feel like you can play again. A rehab program is a structured, researched program designed to get you back to performing at the level before you got injured to ensure a safe return! _ Therefore, coaches need to be testing their athletes on a consistent basis so that if their athletes get injured, they will know exactly where they need to be on their return back to sport! 07.01.2022 Coaching the hinge movement - Athlete development _ One of the critical movements for ALL athletes is the ability to hinge and progress to variations of hinge strengthening lifts/movements. - Here is one of our young athletes Lewis completing banded kneeling RDLs.... This is a great way to introduce the movement to athletes new to the gym for 3 reasons; 1 Pulls athlete into hinge position - tell athlete to engage core to make sure they hinge from the hips, not the back. . 2 engagement of the glutes - A critical component that we see a lot of athletes and coaches get wrong (the hips and glutes drive through to lift the bar - not the back). . 3 An easier variation to learn due to less components involved - the knee component/control is taken out to further simplify the movement.

06.01.2022 Coaching triple extension - A simple but very effective exercise for athletes - Here is a very simple but effective exercise to develop athletic movement qualities to enhance and athletes efficiency in athletic performance! Triple extension is a particular athletic quality that is important to all athletes who run, therefore to be strong in performing the skill and efficient can give your athletes the athletic edge on those they compete with! _... This is just one of many exercises we use to tech triple extension, with particular emphasis in starting to progress into power lifting, which is a great tool for athletes when done well and correctly!
