20.01.2022 APBC ANNOUNCES BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND NEW LEADERSHIP Australia Philippines Business Council (APBC) is pleased to announce the Board of Directors for 2021-2022 as elected by the membership at its Annual General Meeting on September 30, 2021. A new President is at the helm of APBC Rene Cabrera, Managing Director of San Miguel Yamamura Australasia and APBC Vice-President for NSW prior to his current position.... "I feel very privileged to take on the leadership role of this highly regarded organisation which has a track record that dates back to 1975, said Cabrera. I’m personally delighted to be working closely with such a strong group of board members. I look forward to serving with each of them to continue to ensure the Council makes a positive impact for all stakeholders, he added. Cabrera also noted that it is his first time to lead a non-profit organisation. He is an experienced corporate executive, boasting senior roles in manufacturing, sales, logistics and planning in the various packaging businesses of San Miguel Corporation, one of the Philippines' largest and most diversified conglomerates. Cabrera succeeds Eduard Alcordo, who stepped down after serving as President for the past nine years. Delivering his last address as President at the Annual General Meeting, Alcordo reported on the numerous initiatives and engagement with the government and private sectors of Australia and the Philippines during his stewardship of the Council, which built deep bilateral business partnerships. APBC’s 2021-2022 Board Directors come from a wide range of industries and experiences and will lend their diverse perspectives and collective expertise to inform and support the Council's work in the year ahead.
