13.01.2022 Christmas Message from National President, Bethany Paterson. Dear Apexians, As the year draws to a close, it is a great time to reflect on the past year and what a year it has been! Our year started off with some of the worst bushfires in living memory, and Apex, in partnership with the Apex Foundation, rose to the occasion and raised over $57,000, dispersed through Apex Clubs to those who needed it most. Covid-19 descended on the world, lockdowns and restrictions caused ...extreme hardship for our clubs, and our National Board responded by providing fee relief for all of our clubs by using reserves to fund two drawdowns. Our first ever Zoom Convention ran smoothly and the postal/electronic AGM has been completed, with all of motions being passed without the need for the default proxy votes. Thank you to all of the clubs who took the time to vote in the AGM, we need a majority of our clubs to vote for a quorum and we can’t carry out our core business without your votes. I am humbled to be officially voted in as your National President, it is an absolute honour, a huge responsibility and a fantastic opportunity to give back to this incredible Association. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our amazing volunteers who have kept our clubs running under such difficult circumstances. It has been heartwarming and inspiring to see the determination and resilience demonstrated by Apexians during these unprecedented times. Apexians have always been a source of strength for our communities during adversity, and this year our Apexians have been exemplary. I would also like to thank the National Board and the Regional Communicators for their dedication to Apex. They commit endless hours of volunteer time to ensure the proper governance of our Association, and I am very grateful for their tireless work for the benefit of Apex. Next year, we will be celebrating 90 years of Apex, and we will be holding an anniversary celebration in Geelong on 6th March, 2021. In addition, I also look forward to our National Convention in Bundaberg in October 2021. After the cancellation of so many events in 2020, these events will be a fantastic opportunity for us to gather together as an Association and enjoy some much needed Apex fellowship. I also encourage all of our clubs to actively get involved in our National Project, which is to support the mental health of our local communities. On behalf of the National Board, I wish you all a happy and safe festive season and I hope that the New Year provides opportunities for positivity and growth for our clubs and our members. Yours in Apex, Bethany Paterson National President Apex Australia

12.01.2022 Want to know what goes on in VIC during these crazy times, let's ask our Region 9 Regional Communicator G’day fellow Apexians, Ben Kotts Curnow here, RC9 in Western Victoria. Just thought I’d check in with all of you to explain the current situation that us Vics are dealing with. This is no means a cry for sympathy, it’s just life from my perspective as an Apexian and RC....Continue reading

10.01.2022 It is with great sadness that Apex Australia advises its members that Life Member Wayne Smith passed away on Tuesday 12th January after a 12 month battle with cancer. Wayne, a tireless contributor to his community, was life member of the Ulverstone Apex Club as well as 4 other organisations. Wayne was club President in 84-85 , editor of the State Apex Magazine, and he researched, wrote and published the history of Apex in Tasmania. During his year as State President he visite...d all 30 clubs at least twice during his term of office. He was a finalist in Apex national public speaking competition, he organised some of the first Apex executive training seminars, and he was the main instigator behind the purchase of Apex house in Ulverstone. Wayne was the driving force behind ‘Community Pride’, the first ‘work for the dole’ program that led to many long term unemployed people gaining permanent jobs and also led to the Ulverstone/Penguin community receive many permanent assets, such as the zigzag walkway, the West Beach Park development and the toilet block at Coroneagh Park nursing home, amongst many other community projects. He was a leader and mentor to many, and a friend to all. He had an brilliant smile and an infectious laugh, and was one of life’s champions and will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. We extend our sincere condolences to Wayne's family. May he Rest In Peace. See more

06.01.2022 This is the CHOSEN ONE, our OBI-WAN KENOBI & current President in residence Bec! What a year to take on presidency (ugh, 2020, am I right?!) but during the las...t 6 months Bec has introduced some clever new ways to conduct meetings and ensure that board members are on task & supported as well as arranging and attending service events in the community. I sat down with Bec and asked her some questions so that you the people can get to know and love her just as we do What inspired you to join Apex? "I've always loved helping and doing 'the right thing' but for me it wasn't so much a what but a who. I joined because of Stacey! (Refer to our 'Haaaaaaaaaaave you met Stacey?' post) What do you love most about being part of Apex? "Our club (Bunbury Kooombana) is not just a club, it is family." What do you see in the club's future over the upcoming year? "Celebrating our State Catch-up as well as the 85th (plus one, thanks COVID ) Anniversary of our Club" What is your BEST Apex memory? "Seeing my best friend (Stacey) flourish after the club assisted her family to raise funds to undergo vital medical treatment in Russia. I will never forget the feeling I had when they flew out to Russia knowing that the club had had such a huge and positive impact on peoples lives. It was amazing!" Some fun snaps captured of Bec in her natural Apex environment which capture just a hint of her spark
