25.01.2022 There has been a lot of talk of late about helping families and kids develop resilience in light of the extreme weather conditions we’ve been experiencing across our country. This article, by The Resilience Project Founder, Hugh van Cuylenburg, which appeared in The Week-end Australian magazine recently, is an uplifting read on how their resilient movement came about. It also has 3 tips you can apply each and every day to help you develop resilience: 1) Gratitude - the abilit...y to pay attention to what you have instead of worry about what you don’t have) 2) Empathy - the ability to feel what another person is feeling 3) Mindfulness - the ability to focus on that present moment. Grab a cuppa and take a read!

24.01.2022 To all our parents, participants and Apex Camps Supporters. It is with regret and disappointment that we are announcing the cancellation of our upcoming Easter School Holiday program. We are an organisation committed to giving young people opportunities and a great time, and know that our school holiday program is also highly valued by working parents.... However, in light of the continuing escalation of Covid-19 and additional measures being taken for the community’s safety, we believe it’s important for us to take a bigger picture view. Families are at the heart of who we are. And this is a time where we need to do what we can to support families by helping to protect them. We are truly sorry about this decision and apologise for the inconvenience. It has been something we have been constantly reviewing and believe in a vastly changing world, we need to help create certainty. Existing bookings will receive a full refund within 7 days. Thank you for your understanding. We hope to be back brighter than ever for our Winter School holiday program and look forward to seeing you then. PLEASE LOOK AFTER YOU FAMILY DURING THIS TIME.

23.01.2022 Maggie Dent is an Australian author, educator, parenting and resilience specialist with a particular interest in the early years and adolescence. If you have not come across her before she is worth checking out with great resources for parents and teachers. At Apex Camps we seek to provide opportunities for children to be challenged and develop resilience. See https://www.maggiedent.com

19.01.2022 #SadButTrue We apologise for any inconvenience, thank you for your support and look forward to relaunching in 2021!

09.01.2022 Did you know our Maggie Island complex is a great venue for organisations looking for affordable group accommodation in Townsville? We can cater for up to 125 people (and more at a push with access to other accommodation close by). For pre-season sports team training, offsite meetings, conferences, writers workshops, yoga retreats, church camps - any large gathering really - check us out. Our sleeping cabins are fully air-conditioned, we have a large meeting hall and we prov...ide onsite catering in a separate facility, plus there are restaurants close by. And we are only a quick dash across the waves from Townsville. A stay at Apex Camps is like stepping back in time to when life was simpler and more relaxed. Check out the link for more information.
