01.01.2022 Greater Geelong has recorded two new cases of coronavirus. There were 65 active cases reported for the municipality on Friday, down from 71 the day before. Two ...new cases were recorded in Colac Otway, while active cases remained steady at nine. The Department of Health and Human Services has linked four further cases to the Australian Lamb Company in Colac since Tuesday, bringing the number of cases connected to the meatworks to 88. An outbreak emerged at the abattoir last month, resulting in a temporary closure, and the facility reopened earlier this month. A worker from ALC, who lives in Geelong, tested positive for coronavirus on Monday. Barwon Health spokeswoman Kate Bibby said no further positive cases at ALC had been identified since then. No new coronavirus cases were reported for the Surf Coast, where active cases dropped by one to four, on Friday. The Borough of Queenscliffe and Golden Plains remained at no active cases Ms Bibby said the G21 region has continued a positive trend of case numbers over the last week, with an ongoing reduction of about 50 per cent.
