22.01.2022 The early dairy industry around Alstonville: Dalwood Creamery in 1902 - Like other small factories in the Alstonville area, it felt the impact of the NSW Creamery Butter Company - many suppliers went to the larger and more modern factory, causing closure of the smaller operations. Horsedrawn wagons collected cans of cream from the farms and took them to the butter factories. The Alstonville Dairy Company's Creamery on Teven Road was built on Portion 22 by Alexander Duncan, ...and the butter room's walls were lined with charcoal to provide insulation. It opened in 1890 and closed in 1905. Photographs from APHS Historic Collection www.aphsmuseum.org.au [email protected]
