22.01.2022 APIA LEICHHARDT LEGENDS- Peter Tredinnick The Avvocato (the solicitor), an amazing player who is known as both a midfielder and defender. Peter played for APIA Leichhardt FC in 1983, ‘84, ‘87 and ‘88. Tredinnick played 272 matches over 12 seasons in the National Soccer League and represented Australia with the inaugural Young Socceroos and at senior level on six occasions with the Socceroos.... Peter was part of APIA’s incredible 1987 season where the team held a 20 game unbeaten streak! This team was titled ‘The Invincibles’. This is a record that still stands today. 22.01.2022 APIA / LTFC EDP (U7&U8), SAP (U10/U11/U12), Youth (U13/U14/U15/U16) Trials for 2021 This year APIA SAP and YOUTH teams have been dominant throughout the FNSW calendar and it has been a very successful season thus far. This is not an uncommon occurrence at APIA, hence as usual, there have been many enquiries regarding trial dates for the 2021 season. The club looks to build on this success for the coming 2021 season and advises that there will be trial dates set in the coming... months. The current pandemic has impacted on our season this year and things are running a little later than usual, but trial dates will be set for; U7 & U8 APIA Elite Development Program There are no trials for our U9 SAP team. Graham played for APIA Leichhardt FC from 1989 until 1992. Graham enjoyed a long career playing with the Australian national team from 1983 until 1989 playing 84 times for the Socceroos, 44 of which were full 'A' internationals.... After a distinguished club and international career spanning twenty years, Jennings was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame in 1999, receiving the Award of Distinction. 18.01.2022 APIA Leichhardt Legends- Ian Gray was an experienced defender and midfielder, he commenced a 13 year national representative career in 1981. Ian played with the Socceroos in various tournaments including World Cup runs until 1994. Ian played for APIA from 1980 until 1985. With APIA, Ian won the National Cup in 1982. He scored six goals in the 1984 National Soccer League (NSL) season and obtained a prolific name for himself due to his speed and talent on the ball. ... In 2004 Ian was inducted into the Football Australia Hall of Fame - Award of Distinction. Ian is truly missed and will always be a legend to us.

Terry was an APIA junior who surprised his coaches and quickly made it through to playing for APIA’s first grade team from 1971 until 1988. Terry was part of APIA’s incredible 1987 season where the team held a 20 game unbeaten streak! This is a record that still stands today.... Terry also played as a winger for the Socceroos in 1972. This contributes to the proud, long and unparalleled history of APIA players playing at a national team level. John played for APIA Leichhardt FC from 1964 until 1968. John enjoyed a long career playing with the Australian national team from 1965 until 1974 playing 31 times for the Socceroos, including being a member of the Austr...alian 1974 FIFA World Cup squad in West Germany. John scored 4 times while wearing the Socceroos jersey. Watkiss Street in the Sydney suburb of Glenwood is named in his honour. 06.01.2022 The legend of the gloves Greg Woodhouse grabs the ball around the stellar lineup of Peter Wilson, Eric Curruthers and Ken Reid. APIA caught up with Greg who said, (We had) good tough games and great crowds at urban grounds. I really enjoyed my time at APIA! Peter Wilson was one of the toughest players that I ever played with. ... Every game we beat Marconi or Sydney City were the most important games. This team went on to win the National Cup in 1982 against Heidelberg when APIA won 2-1 in Melbourne, at Olympic Park Stadium.

04.01.2022 APIA LEICHHARDT LEGENDS- Peter Ollerton, an amazing goal scoring machine who played as a striker for APIA Leichhardt FC in 1974. Peter scored 35 goals in 45 appearances for APIA. The 1974 final was considered "one of the most incredible finals" of the history of the club when skipper Jimmy Rooney and centreforward Peter Ollerton, who scored five goals, won 91 against Auburn in front of a crowd of 5210 at Wentworth Park, the highest finals result ever.... Peter also played as a striker for the Socceroos from 1974 until 1977. Peter received the invitation to play for the Australian national team while he was playing at APIA. 04.01.2022 VALE John Economos It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend and colleague - John Economos aged 78. Highly controversial and set in his ways with a granite like resilience, John had endeared himself to a select group of friends and the broader soccer community. He is in that big stadium in the sky with his mates Johnny Warren, Michael Cockerill and Eddie Thompson. ... John was an Australian Football Journalist Legend - in every sense of the word. Being the only journalist ever awarded recognition and induction into the Football Federation Australia Hall of Fame. Apart from that John was a close and loyal media partner of our Club, spanning an amazing 5 decades. As well as being a regular visitor and passionate follower of our Club, throughout the years. Jimmy played for APIA Leichhardt FC from 1972 until 1976. Jimmy enjoyed a long career playing with the Australian national team from 1970 until 1980 playing 57 times for the Socceroos, including being a vital goal scoring member of the Australian 1974 FIFA World Cup squad in West Germany.... 01.01.2022 APIA LEICHHARDT LEGENDS- Rosario Rampanti, the Italian wizard, started his senior career at Torino Football Club in the Italian Serie A, where he made one-hundred and twelve league appearances. After that, he played for SSC Napoli, Bologna Fc 1909, Brescia Calcio BSFC. In 1978, Rosario joined APIA Leichhardt until 1979. He lead a fearless midfield that inspired the players around him. His possession control was like no other and demanded excellence from the players around h...im. Rosario discussed his time at APIA stating It was a wonderful experience on a human level, for me and for my family: my two girls were 3 and 4 years old. APIA immediately taught me the English language. Sydney was and is a great city, I went back a couple of years ago, because I still have friends there. The weather is great and the people too. APIA then sold Rosario to SPAL, returning him to Serie A. See more
