The vast majority of people with congenital hypothyroidism ( born without a thyroid gland) do not have any problems fighting contagions, although there is some evidence that if the hypothyroidism is not well controlled with medication, the susceptibility to viruses can increase, this problem is reversed when the hypothyroidism is appropriately treated.
