25.01.2022 Important announcement - cancellation of Moorabbin A Plus Market - Sunday 29th March 2020. Having been closely monitoring government and health department advice regarding COVID-19, we have decided to cancel the forthcoming A Plus Market event that was planned for Sunday March 29 at Kingston City Hall, Moorabbin. This decision considers both the the safety and wellbeing of our patrons and staff as well as the broader community. With the governments recent decision to ban all ...non essential events that attract greater than 500 people; the situation escalating and changing rapidly we feel we cant guarantee a safe and fun environment that weve come to expect from an A Plus Market. We thank you for your support and understanding at this challenging time and look forward to seeing you safe and sound in A Plus health when the air clears. Fingers crossed - well be back in May!

19.01.2022 Quick update re plans for the next market. Simply we don’t know. Venues are not confirming dates because they don’t know. Restrictions continue to change so it’s difficult to make plans that we can be confident to stick. Annnnd with the current level of restrictions probably continuing near indefinitely (or at last that how it feels) it’s difficult to understand how we’ll be able to function safely, comfortably and viably.... We are slowly working through some alternative ideas but have yet to have any light bulb moments.

We have a really diverse range of people within the A Plus Market community, many activists and strong supporters of Fat acceptance and some that have never heard there is such a movement. We want everyone to feel welcome and if we can spread the knowledge and power in a non threatening way. So with this in mind - weve created a bundle of fat activist badges ...that you can collect if you want - for free! Theres a whole bunch of differing designs that you can choose from that best suits how you wish to show your support and spread the message. Plus! 10.01.2022 The long over due A Plus Market 2020 update. With the social distancing laws being in flux and potential for them to change suddenly we have decided to cancel both the May and July A Plus Markets. Personally Im devastated to be missing out on my winter clothes shopping though considering both health and space restrictions this seems the best path forward. ... If all goes well the next market at this stage will be in September at the new Werribee location. We are however not accepting bookings yet. In the mean time I am working on a presentation for the upcoming online New Zealand Fat Studies Conference. I may need some help in this regard - just some answering questionnaire things, so please watch out for these updates and requests. The other thing I will be doing is taking a much needed break from A Plus Market stuffs. Its been a fun 7 years but Im looking forward to having a bit of a brain and activity holiday whilst also doing some background planning on how best to relaunch the markets in the safest way possible. 09.01.2022 Update time After the enforced break of the long lockdown planning is go! Yet, theres still not a lot to update with, unfortunately. ... Restrictions as they are now do mean some changes are afoot. I want to make sure we can all have a rewarding and safe market experience. I want to be as sure as I can that there’ll be no last minute cancellations or changes. The risk of financial and time loss is real! So far I’ve made some tentative plans but won’t be making any bold moves until the new year. Stay tuned

08.01.2022 Usually just before a market we post some shopping tips for everyone - like being a big bag and plenty of cash (no atm on site and majority of stalls are cash only) but the best tip we have is to come to have fun, be present and kind to one another and yourself. 07.01.2022 Soooooo... To market, to market? That is the question...... Now that we are back on track to socialise again the time has come to consider the what to do... To return safely and successfully we are going to need to implement some changes. It’s totally doable and I need to top up my wardrobe so the chances are we’ll return sometime in 2021. But we’ll finally after all these years be increasing our entrance fee. We’ll need to move to an electronic payment system too. I’m considering a pay what you feel/can with suggestions of -$5 keep us going -$10 help us grow I’ve even considered some kind of yearly subscription payment for frequent attendees... I’d love your feedback? Thoughts on this pricing structure...
