17.01.2022 These are certainly strange times that we are living in. But the reality is, that what is going on, is what is going on. How we navigate ourselves through t...his experience is up to us. We do not need to allow ourselves to be overwhelmed and consumed by fear and anxiety and worry. It helps nothing, and achieves nothing positive. The only thing that we have any control over in a situation like this, is how we choose to think and behave in each and every moment. We always have the ability - even though it might not feel like it - but we do have the ability to choose not to buy into the fear and the panic that is going on, and to be considerate about the conversations we are having and the actions we are taking. During times like these, when we are inundated with messages and images from the media and all of the socials, and when we go to the supermarket and see the empty shelves, and we are living with daily uncertainty about what's coming next - feeling bad or worried or anxious or fearful HELPS NOTHING. The best thing we can do is to remain as calm as we can. To conduct ourselves with dignity and integrity, whatever comes to pass. To try and live in the moment. To try and maintain a real sense of humour. Laughter is such an incredible antidote to stress. To use this time to reconnect with friends and loved ones and to start or finish those projects that you've been wanting to do for a long time. To remember that we live in a community made up of other human beings, and to make decisions that are civically minded. There's a lot of people in our community and as we have seen, demand in the supermarkets is currently outstripping supply. So, even if others are not remembering that we all need food, and we all need toilet paper, you can remember. Just because everyone else seems to be doing it, it doesn't mean that we all have to follow the herd and to buy into the panic and it doesn't mean that we have to follow suit. So simple - to wash our hands. To keep an eye on those in the community who might be living on their own, or who are genuinely afraid, and to reach out to them. To keep spending our money, to not buy into the economic fears, and to keep supporting businesses wherever we can - ESPECIALLY SMALL BUSINESSES - so that our economy can continue to flourish. We can all play such a significant part in this. It's really important. To care about each other, and to look out for each other. It's in times like these that the human spirit can truly triumph. We can all choose to be that light for others. And to remember, like all things, that this too, shall pass. Love, Fiona xxx
