25.01.2022 A massive thank you to Billy Hannah for helping out today to spread the top soil with his bobcat - very much appreciated! A reminder to all to please keep off the oval until mid-June!
25.01.2022 The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority (GORCPA) will be set up soon. Does anyone know why on earth the GORCPA should be managing the Rec Reserve in Apol...lo Bay? The Cricket and Rec Reserve was set up in 1868 and until 2001 was managed by a locally elected committee who used income from sports and more recently from camping to develop and maintain facilities. By all accounts they did it very well. In 2001 the Otway Coast Committee, appointed by DELWP, took over the Rec Reserve. Unfortunately, despite best efforts, the OCC has never had the resources or scale to deal with the many issues along the foreshore or the local accountability and sports management expertise to manage the Rec Reserve properly. In the last twenty years the Rec Reserve has been sadly starved of investment as its income has been diverted to maintain the foreshore. So, the Presidents of the Footy/Netball, Cricket & Tennis Clubs plus the Ag Show - as users of the Rec Reserve - have written to the Minister in charge of setting up the GORCPA to ask: 1. What process will there be to consider which community facilities & landholdings will be managed by the GORCPA? 2. What community consultation is planned during this process, when will this occur and what weight will be given to community views? 3. Is it intended that a core function of the GORCPA will be to develop and manage sporting and recreation facilities for all the communities along the Great Ocean Road? It is very clear that the Rec Reserve has been run down over the last twenty years. And it seems most unlikely that developing and managing local sporting facilities will be a priority for GORCPA. Since the Rec Reserve isnt even on the foreshore it is clearly time that new management arrangements are put in place.

24.01.2022 The ABFNC would like to advise all of its players, members, supporters and families of the following regarding the 2020 season. AFL Barwon has made the decision to immediately postpone and shutdown all training, practice matches, large scale events and gatherings at all clubs across the entire region until May 31st, in line with current health guidelines implemented by the Australian Government. NAB AFL Auskick centres and programs operating or set to begin as well as club sc...hool visits, will also be postponed until May 31st. Whilst we understand this is a big measure, we believe it is a necessary one. The safety and welfare of our players, volunteers, officials and their families, remains the number one priority. We do acknowledge that everyone has been working extremely hard in preparation for this season and we recommend that you continue your fitness and skills the best you can, whilst we wait for the next steps in the coming weeks/months. We dont suggest that you train in groups, as there needs to be measure of social distancing between everyone during this challenging time. Once we receive more information, we will update you all. Stay healthy, stay safe, stay strong. Go Bayers
23.01.2022 Ground works are underway on the oval at the Football Netball Club with the spreading of new top soil and re-seeding. We ask that people please stay off the oval for the next 8 weeks - so no jogging around the boundary, no kicking the footy, no playing cricket, no hitting golf balls, no flying a kite or anything else. So just to be clear, please please please stay off the oval until mid-June. Thank you.

12.01.2022 Hi everyone Here is an update from AFL Barwon on the easing of certain restrictions released yesterday. Please keep a positive attitude and a belief that we will be back in action soon, Kyle
11.01.2022 To all members and sponsors of the Apollo Bay Football Netball Club. The committee joins me in hoping you and your family are all safe and well. COVID-19 is having an impact on every area of life, and our club will feel its effects for some time to come. Our teams will not be able to play until the end of May, at the earliest, and all club public activities have been put on hold. In addition to this, we are still planning on having a reduced season of a proposed 9 game stru...cture plus finals. We will provide more information once we have been updated from AFL Barwon. This forced downtime poses a serious threat to all clubs. Players, supporters, volunteers and community sentiment can all drift away from our club if we do not take action. On the other hand, if we use this time wisely, we can plan for a successful return to normal club activities. AFL Barwon has been in touch with us and all other clubs with information and guidance on responding to the situation. With their support, the club committee is already working to secure the clubs future. Our aim is for the club to be ready and in the best possible health when normal activities resume. We are still working on the improvements around the club. We will have our new lights around the oval and electronic scoreboard up and running by the 24th April. The netball playing court has already been resurfaced and the girls were enjoying training on it. We will inform you of our progress soon. In the meantime, please stay safe and look out for each other. Best regards and Go Bayers Kyle Briggs President ABFNC
11.01.2022 A great article in the Colac Herald today.
10.01.2022 To all Club sponsors, members, players and the wider Apollo Bay Community. By now I am sure you have heard about the cancellation of the 2020 Football Netball season. This announcement was made on Tuesday 9th of June by CDFNL and AFL Barwon. I feel that this is a wise decision, the main being the safety of our Club community. Once further restrictions are eased, we will look at options for a short term round-robin series for our juniors both football and netball. This opti...on will be further investigated, and details will be released once we have detailed information from the Government and the league. The committee is in discussions to look at holding a set of social functions to reunite as a club. I am sure that you are all missing the social aspect to a playing season, I know I am. Moving forward, we are continuing to improve our Club facilities and make our Thursday evenings and game days an enjoyable and comfortable experience for all. We will keep you informed with any further progress and encourage you to stay connected and build the momentum going into next season. Thanks everyone for your patience and understanding in these strange and uncertain times. Go Bayers. Regards, Kyle.

07.01.2022 Apollo Bay FNC Family, I hope that everyone is doing the best they can in these uncertain times. Today we would have completed our first round for season 2020 and I must say it has been a very somber feeling not being able to watch you all play, cheer and celebrate both codes of netball and football, juniors and seniors. Lets stay confident in the fact that we are all united and connected by community spirit and we will bounce back in the coming months ahead. Stay healthy and lets keep a positive mindset for the future of our club. Kyle.

03.01.2022 As this year slowly ticks over, the 1st weekend in September will soon be upon us. There a just a few days left until a year has passed that we witnessed a glorious game of football, played by a champion team. We may not have been able to take to the field this year, but this one thing still remains the same. Our Reserves won that last Grand final and they are still the reigning premiers!... Bayers!
