16.01.2022 Last week we received development approval from Colac Otway Shire Council to upgrade our Apollo Bay store. The project represents a significant investment that ...is required to modernise the site and to ensure it continues to operate safely and reliably for the local community and visitors well into the future. The store will close on 17 June with works to be delivered over 12-14 weeks. The work will include the replacement of fuel tanks and lines, a new canopy, an upgraded shop and the store will also be transitioned to the revitalised Ampol brand. Delivery of the works has been timed so the site can reopen ahead of the peak summer holiday period. Given the extent of the works, unfortunately fuel service cannot be maintained while works are completed. We have exhaustively considered and proposed a range of other options to maintain service to the community and visitors while these essential works are delivered, however we have not been able to obtain the required regulatory approvals. This is in no doubt recognition of the fact that there are a range of safety, environmental and other regulations that must be met in order to operate a retail fuel service. As a result of these exhaustive considerations, the most viable option is a fuel delivery service through HaloGo. Caltex will subsidise the service to ensure that is available to the local communities of Apollo Bay, Skenes Creek and Marengo two days per week (Tuesday and Friday) between the hours of 10.00am and 10.00pm starting on Friday 19 June. Customers from outlying properties will be able to arrange for fuel delivery to their vehicles at an agreed location in the townships. While the price of fuel delivered through the service will be competitive and comparable with other areas in regional Victoria, there will be a $5 delivery fee for pre-bookings to use the service. For those that need to access the service on the day in an emergency situation without a booking, the delivery fee will be a little higher. A dedicated phone number will be available for this service and will also be available to the elderly who cannot access the service using a smartphone. The operation of this service comes at a significant cost to Caltex however we want to ensure we can provide some alternative for the local community while works are being delivered. We remain open to working with local council and other stakeholders to consider options to extend this service where appropriate. Further information about HaloGo and about access to the fuel delivery service can be found at www.halogo.com.au. See more
