25.01.2022 Although Blake has become better known for his relief etching, his commercial work largely consisted of intaglio engraving, the standard process of engraving in the 18th century in which the artist incised an image into the copper plate, a complex and laborious process, with plates taking months or years to complete, such engraving offered a "missing link with commerce", enabling artists to connect with a mass audience and became an immensely important activity by the end of ...the 18th century. William Blake (28 November 1757 12 August 1827) was an English poet, painter, and printmaker. Largely unrecognised during his lifetime, Blake is now considered a seminal figure in the history of the poetry and visual arts of the Romantic Age. Although Blake was considered mad by contemporaries for his idiosyncratic views, he is held in high regard by later critics for his expressiveness and creativity, and for the philosophical and mystical undercurrents within his work. His paintings and poetry have been characterised as part of the Romantic movement and as "Pre-Romantic". A committed Christian who was hostile to the Church of England (indeed, to almost all forms of organised religion), Blake was influenced by the ideals and ambitions of the French and American Revolutions.[9] Though later he rejected many of these political beliefs. view on Instagram https://ift.tt/2W6NwrL See more

21.01.2022 When you browse the internet you are #publishing a lot of information about yourself, marketers can track your activities from the fingerprint of your computer. In addition to third-party cookies, the unique characteristics of your computer, such as its screen size, browser window size, fonts installed, and more. If you use Chrome #browser you might consider switching to Brave browser. Brave was co-founded by Brendan Eich, the creator of Javascript and the co-founder of Moz...illa, the organization that makes Firefox. Braves look is indistinguishable to Chrome and is 100% compatible with the Chrome Webstore for browser extensions. It has massive privacy protections built in, such as HTTPS everywhere which encrypts your connections with websites you visit, preventing 'man-in-the-middle attacks, also protection from aforementioned #fingerprinting. But the strongest privacy feature of Brave is its private browsing mode. Standard private browsing (known in Chrome as Incognito mode) doesnt keep your web activity or identity private from your ISP or the websites you visit or Google. Instead, those modes simply block traces of your browsing activity from being left on your computer. Braves private browsing mode is radically different and provides much more privacy. When you activate a private window in Brave, that window uses Tor, a software project that helps mask your IP address by running your internet activity through a relay server that forwards your request to its final destination. This makes it virtually impossible for the website you are accessing to know that the request came from your computer. view on Instagram http://bit.ly/2Gpo4J2 See more

19.01.2022 A Square format logotype for our #PillarboxRed publishing imprint for independent authors of children's titles. The logotype is built with the typeface Clarendon, which is a slab serif released in 1845, the plain and sturdy typeface became instantly popular as it was particularly suited to creating posters using wood type. I have modified the top serif of the 'd' to echo the pillarbox graphic, to bind the elements visually. Facebook/Instagram image compression does strange t...hings to the colour red. 17.01.2022 Mother's day is a while away here and it's come and gone in Ireland. We're in an international Mother's day no-man's land. However I just came across a nostalgic poem by my mum (aka mammy) micropublished by her writing group. It mentions 'fat books', I'm posting it. 11.01.2022 "And because copyright was invented by writers and publishers, not painters, the control that you have is not over the physical object through which your expression is fixed, but over its copies." - #ericschrijver A Creative Commons (CC) license is one of several public copyright licenses that enable the free distribution of an otherwise copyrighted "work". A CC license is used when an author wants to give other people the right to share, use, and build upon a work that he or... she (that author) has created. CC provides an author flexibility (for example, he or she might choose to allow only non-commercial uses of a given work) and protects the people who use or redistribute an author's work from concerns of copyright infringement as long as they abide by the conditions that are specified in the license by which the author distributes the work. #aaronswartz #creativecommons view on Instagram https://ift.tt/2Ymwvvx See more
