Like you, we’re disappointed but also pretty determined that a week of lockdown might save a Festive Season. This most recent series of Appellation Locals Night has been an overwhelming success, with every single session booking out in record time. To say thank you to all of our locals and supporters we wanted to do it all one more time and make sure that this series goes out with a bang. So, here’s to one more on Thursday 24th of September! On this night, we’ll also be celebrating three important milestones with you. First is the ...15th birthday of Appellation restaurant, an occasion that we’re immensely proud of. Our team past and present along with our suppliers and supporters have helped push us forward every step of the way and the result has been a regional restaurant with longevity that remains guided by the seasons, inspired by an historic food culture, and continues to look towards the future. We will also celebrate the commitment, passion and talent of a great chef and friend, Daniel Murphy, who will complete his last service in Appellation restaurant on this very evening. Dan is moving on to take an exciting new step in his career and we want to wish him well in true Barossa style; with a feast of epic proportions! (that he will be cooking, of course) With the departure of Dan comes a new era for Appellation and we welcome Kyle Johns to head up the kitchen team. Many of you know Kyle from his flavoursome comfort food in three75 bar + kitchen but we’ve always known that his ability extends far beyond what we’ve seen from him so far. 10.01.2022 In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Appellation at The Louise will pause operations until further notice. We hope to reopen as soon as possible and will be looking to our government to advise when that will be appropriate. This is a particularly heartbreaking announcement to make as we feel that, at 15 years old, our restaurant had just entered into one of the best phases of it’s life with a brand new look and a team of some of the very best hospitality professionals we kno...w. It’s extremely sad for us to have to stop this incredible feeling of momentum and we know that many restaurants across our country and the world are experiencing the same grief. 07.01.2022 Last night we celebrated our 15th birthday, and what a bash it was! We welcomed our founding executive chef, Mark McNamara, back into the kitchen for the night and fondly remembered where it all began. We said goodbye to our much loved chef Daniel Murphy who’s been at Appellation’s helm for the past two years, creating top notch dishes and becoming life long friends with us all. We also got to eat this amazing dessert made by Dan’s wife and our ex pastry chef, Emily, who came... in to cook by Dan’s side on his last night. And we watched Dan hand the baton on to Kyle Johns who will take Appellation into the next phase of its life with flare, talent, and a true love for the art of sharing great food. Most importantly, we were able to experience this special occasion with our friends and supporters who booked us out and made this the busiest service in Appellation’s history. 06.01.2022 We’re so happy to learn that lockdown restrictions in South Australia will be easing from Sunday 22nd of November, 3 days earlier than anticipated. After swiftly responding to the original announcement of six days of lockdown, it will take us a bit more time to be back up and running. As such The Louise and Appellation will resume normal trading hours from Thursday, November 26th. When they’re young and tender you can eat them raw in salads or even use them to make a pesto.
