25.01.2022 ATEL-Female Factor ATEL - Apprentices Trainees Employment Ltd - Wagga Wagga commence MIP in Carpentry, Joinery, Paint and Plaster with 10 participants, 7 in the class are long term unemployed. One of the long term unemployed is the only female in the project, 21 year old Bridget. Her MIP journey is depicted in ATELs group project report... One particular participant Bridget was a very keen and enthusiastic contributor to the learning group. She expressed a particular interest in the Painting element of the course and sought to undertake work experience in this field. After completing, the first week of this work placement Bridget was offered a full time Apprenticeship with the employer. Bridget has grasped at this opportunity with both hands and has since commenced her Apprenticeship in Painting. When asked how she was enjoying the work she sis I absolutely love it! 19.01.2022 Apprenticeships R Us The Female Factor A group of 10 complete an Automotive Industry MIP in Preston Melbourne. Several gain apprenticeships and 2 of these are the only 2 females in the Group, Jessica and Prtibha . Jessica joins class mate Terry at Subaru Docklands in light automotive soon after completing. Prtibha has a longer search in front of her, she is dedicated to following a career in restoration, a very specialised area where apprenticeships are difficult to find a...nd the rarity makes them fiercely competitive to secure. Prtibhas home is Shepparton in regional Victoria, following her goal she has relocated to Melbourne and has started her apprenticeship at JC Classic Cars in Mt Evelyn an outer eastern suburb of Melbourne. 17.01.2022 Trade Tester Secures School-based Apprenticeships for 10 Western Victorian Secondary College Students Westvic Staffing Solutions have completed a MIP combination project in 5 regional western Victorian secondary colleges with an average of 12 to 13 participants at each college. To date 10 participants have already secured a SBAT in 2017. Westvic have worked hard with all stakeholders to provide Trade Taster and Industry days with the complications of logistics and transport... for regional towns. Westvic travel regularly to the schools to deliver Career and Industry sessions. They continue to develop their delivery plans to accommodate the learning styles of the various groups with a range of materials and activities developed for foundations skills training have been incorporated in the sessions. 17.01.2022 26 Participants from Western Heights College in Geelong Commence School-based Apprenticeships following their Construction of a Community Garden Victorian Group Training completed 2 Projects, 1 year 11 VCAL and 1 year 10 program both at Western Heights College Geelong. The year 10 group extended across the Christmas school holidays with much of the work experience conducted in 2017. With this group having just completed 12 have responded in their survey they plan to commence ...an SBAT in the next 12 months, 4 already have. The year 11 group of 26 students completed a project involving the design and construction of a school/community garden. This garden has been landscaped (by students) and even includes a student made outdoor pizza oven. Students have propagated and planted the vegetation and plants and constructed the fencing and gates which involved engineering and welding of the metal gates. All 26 participants in this program have commenced School Based Traineeships and year 12. The partners of this project are very engaged in the community and proactively seek pathways for youth. The community collaboration provided an opportunity for these students to enter a SBAT in 2017 in Horticulture at The Paddock a business enterprise of Encompass community services. These participants in their SBAT will continue to explore the opportunities in Horticulture and have the experience of working with those with a disability. 14.01.2022 Four MIP Participants Secure Apprenticeships with Apprenticeships R Us Apprenticeships R Us completed a group of 10 participants in a MIP automotive industry. Four of these participants have secured an apprenticeship. With several great outcomes from the group Mark of Apprenticeship R Us features the story of Terrys achievements in their Group Project Report.... Terry and his family moved to Australia from The Ivory Coast He lives with his mother and four brothers, being the oldest of five boys Terry wants to set a good example for his younger brothers. After finishing year 12 Terry worked at several different jobs to help his mum support the family. Now 22 Terry decided he wanted more direction, a career something he could be proud of. With some previous exposure to Automotive Terry knew he had an interest in cars so he started inquiring about apprenticeships. This is how Terry came across our course. He showed great interest in learning about the different jobs available in the Automotive industry. After an impressive, enthusiastic effort in the class room we sent Terry to Subaru where he was able to experience several different careers available. Terry had a very positive attitude towards the opportunity he was given and made the most of it. Subaru were very impressed with Terry and learned that he enjoyed his time in the workshop with the technicians and being around the cars. Terry was offered an apprenticeship as a light vehicle mechanic at their Docklands Site and is now a very proud member of the Subaru team. 11.01.2022 We are pleased to announce that on Thursday 3rd of March the Group Training Association of Victoria will be launching its new trading name - Apprenticeship Employment Network. Over the past 30 years, our members have employed and supported an estimated 150,000 young people into a wide range of apprenticeships and traineeships. We believe our new name better represents what our members do and will provide a stronger connection with the community.... Our social media handles will change from @gtavic to @appemploynet on Twitter and likewise our Facebook page will be renamed accordingly. We will be launching our new look website on Thursday so continue to follow us on social media for further updates.
10.01.2022 On Wednesday evening this week we held our Annual Awards Dinner. Around 120 guests attended and the night showcased some fantastic examples of young apprentices and trainees, members and staff within the Victorian GTO industry. The awards categories covered Apprentice of the Year, Trainee of the Year, Outstanding OHS Award, GTO Service Excellence Award and Industry Service Awards (10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years of service). 09.01.2022 MEGT - Female Factor Bree is the only female in MEGT Institutes Hobart MIP in Carpentry, joinery, brick and plaster/paint project. Joanna of MEGT reports Brees achievement at the end of the project... "The sole female participant, Bree Kelly, was the one participant who completed the course and also completed Work Experience. Work Experience was with the construction company VOS Constructions. They had been advertising for an apprentice and Bree applied but had not been given an interview until being confirmed as a work experience participant. Although she did not secure the apprenticeship, she was shortlisted as one of six for interview. On her Work Experience, Bree was the only female construction worker on site. Bree was breaking some new ground with VOS and remains committed to working in this industry." Bree has since gone on to secure a building apprenticeship with VOS. 05.01.2022 In 2016, 75% of a group of 12 year 11 students complete a 16 week MIP project. 80% of survey respondents elected to continue at school which is a great result in this area where there is high risk of early school leavers. In 2017, 11 students commenced, this years project which is spread across a longer time period with work experience placements of 2 to 3 days a week rather than week blocks.
