25.01.2022 Although some Yoga Studios will be reopening next week, Applecross Yoga is staying online for the meantime . Thank you to all the students who have embraced our Zoom classes , they are working really well and keep us connected. And as Mark Mc Gowan said today its so important that we take a cautious approach to winding back restrictions Sharing with you some photos from my sunrise walk along Waylen Bay yesterday

24.01.2022 Today is a very special day, winter solstice, International Yoga Day and Sri TKV Desikachar's birthday. His teachings are the foundation of my yoga study and practice.

23.01.2022 The beauty of Waylen Bay is one of the joys of our simple venue. As we are not able to be there for now I am sharing some photos taken on my walks . Online classes are keeping us connected and we are all adapting to this new norm of practising Yoga together. Sending love

20.01.2022 Thanks to my lovely friend and colleague Charley Hickey for posting this today . Applecross Yoga is suspending our in person classes for now but will be offering live classes online once I have practised a bit ! They will be available to current and former students only, so check your emails !

20.01.2022 End of term , almost the end of this strange year . Congratulations and thanks to all Applecross Yoga students who adapted to and embraced Zoom yoga classes or waited patiently for face to face classes to resume. This week we all brought flowers and created these beautiful mandalas. We have a wonderful supportive sangha. There will be a class on Monday at 9.30am and two more Wed 6am sessions before Christmas . Love to you all

19.01.2022 Remember Meditation is part of your yoga journey, it is not separate, it is one of the 8 limbs . Every time you take a yoga class , every time you go on your mat at home , you are on the path to meditation . Your mindful, breath centred yoga practice can be a meditation in itself; your morning walk, your quiet times in nature, all can be meditation if you allow it.

19.01.2022 This is a really interesting article about how what we eat and drink can affect our sleep.

19.01.2022 Our little hall, tucked into the hillside by the water , viewed from Heathcote . Such a peaceful special place. We have been there for almost 30 years now, firstly with Billee as our teacher and then 23 years ago I taught my first ever Yoga class here. So much history, so much sharing. Monday and Friday classes are back at the hall and from October all classes will have returned there . Still on Zoom for Wednesday classes until then .

18.01.2022 This week at Yoga via Zoom we have been meditating on the peaceful centre of ourselves. The message of yoga is simple: your inner self is one of peace. If you connect with the feeling of peace within through yoga, you will find your true self. That self is a calm presence that is always inside you, in your heart center. Whenever you practice yoga, whether it is asana, pranayama, or meditation, connect yourself to that peaceful feeling. The more deeply you are established in... that tranquil center in your heart, the more easily your life will flow. Indra Mohan For a change I am sharing a beautiful peaceful video from my birth country Enjoy the peace and beauty of Scotland !

18.01.2022 Here we all are, five days of chanting and learning , day off today and then 5 more days . Just wonderful

18.01.2022 Kintsugi (, "golden joinery"), also known as kintsukuroi (, "golden repair"), is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of brea...kage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise. We can apply this to our selves, finding the gold or beauty in aspects of ourselves that we might consider to be 'broken'. This is just one of the Japanese words that Fuyuko discussed with Stephanie in a recent sangha session. If you'd like to listen to this beautiful interview and discover some of the depth behind language, here is the link: https://vimeo.com/473032

17.01.2022 We often see Pelicans swimming or flying by our Yoga Hall , their majesty and grace always inspires me. This photo was taken by my friend David Baker of Katieyoga. He kindly gave me permission to use it. Isnt it beautiful? I am in Melbourne for the last module of my Vedic Chant Teacher Training but classes are in good hands with Anna, Graeme and Shelley relief teaching for me. See you in March!

15.01.2022 Yoga teaching 2020 style! I love this photo of one of my colleagues teaching in Sweden. To me it epitomises how yoga teachers and students around the world have adapted successfully to changes in how we practice and teach yoga and stay connected during this pandemic. Applecross Yogas term 2 has been entirely online, thanks to all students who have participated and embraced this new way of sharing Yoga together. Term 2 ends this Friday 3rd July . Next term we will start with a combination of face to face and online classes . Thanks to Hanna Staaff for permission to use this photo

15.01.2022 I think this photo taken at a smoky dawn yesterday expresses some of the emotions we have been feeling during this strange time . Our little scout hall where we meet for yoga is hidden from view, quiet, alone but still there . Waylen Bay remains as beautiful as ever and will be when we eventually return. In the meantime our online classes keep us connected , sharing the gift of yoga together, supporting one another as we navigate strange waters

14.01.2022 We are all set and ready to go! Tomorrow at 3:00 pm SG time is the start of our 10 months Yoga-Stra webinar about antar-anga-sdhana, the internal practice. 02.01.2022 Just before 6am class yesterday. We had a wonderful week. Thank you to all who participated in our annual summer early morning classes. 02.01.2022 Here comes the Sun...Spring term has begun! We are back at the hall for all classes and will be running Zoom concurrently on Wednesdays only ( 6am and 9am)

02.01.2022 When it feels like the world is weighing down on us, it is helpful to step away from the why and when questions about its condition, and take up what and how... questions about the positive change we wish to see. Why is the world like this? When will it change? Why are people behaving like this? These are worthy questions, but they are not easily answerable. They will pull you down if you lose yourself in them. It is important to focus on what we can do to make a positive change and how we can keep moving toward that one step at a time. A Yoga Sutra commentary gives the metaphor that a room may be dark, but that will not overwhelm the rays of light we shine into it. If the negative pulls of greed, anger, and delusion are like darkness, their opposites of charity, kindness, and clarity are like rays of light. All conscious effort toward a beneficial change, however small, leaves behind an imprint in us and in others that makes the next positive action easier. It is helpful to keep reminding ourselves of this truth in these times. Dr. Ganesh Mohan In-depth traditional yoga studies at www.YogaKnowledge.net. 01.01.2022 This is so pertinent to our situation right now. I have joined a Facebook group View from my Window where people from around the world in lockdown share their varied views from their homes some stunning, some ordinary . But we also right now can use our time to look inwards , it can be confronting and scary at times but it can also bring clarity .
